Richard James Bolan had some great licks/sound ''king of the rumbling spires'' (or was that with johns children?) elemental child, i love that lead in ''born to boogie''
@7byseven Let us not forget the late great Mick Ronson who played with David Bowie. He also used a MKI Tone Bender for his signature sound during the Spiders from Mars era.
Well, the curly guitar lead has higher capacitance, because the coiling process actually causes the cable to be longer. What I mean is, if say you took a 20 foot curly lead, and were able to straighten it out, it'd actually be longer than a normal non-curly 20 foot lead. Hence, you'd get a little top end rolled off. It's been said that part of Pete Townshend's guitar sound on Live At Leeds (and most other live Who recordings) comes from the fact that he's using a curly guitar lead.
Hey GMD, have you ever tinkered around to make a fuzz pedal? Seems like a MK1 clone would go REAL nicely w/ the other pedals you make. Or maybe like a germanium Fuzz Face clone, or... I dunno. Just a thought:)
Hi Gearmanndude. I really enjoy your videos especially the D*A*M pedal demos. I only wish that they were available in Australia. I love the 65 Tonebender Mk!.
I wish it was a tone bender MK 2 with a bit of noise gate. I got WARM AUDIO FOXY TONE BOX, BOSS WAZA CRAFT FUZZ FZ1W AND BRITISH PEDAL CO BRITSOUND FUZZ and on its way is a SOLASOUND MK4 TONE BENDER FUZZ this is a very cool effort though
Was Mick Ronson using a Tonebender on The Man Who Sold The World - wasn't it just a cranked Marshall? I always wondered how they played alongside an amp of that volume...
Your'e wrong about the Fuzz Gods landing in England first gearmandude....They landed here in the states in '62 with the invention of the Maestro Fuzz Tone.
I found this cable that has ultra low capacitance per foot at DH Labs. Yea, they make high end hifi interconnects and mega buck speaker cables, but they have this stuff called Pro Studio cable that is fantastic for guitar cables. I guess the stuff is actually high quality stranded copper that is silver coated. It ain't the cheapest, but it sure as hell sounds amazing. Also quiet.
@Guitarman3348 These are discontinued. Good luck finding one. I haven't seen one of these for less then $500... and I'm sure the way people have been jacking up prices on D.A.M. pedals... I'm sure if you found one it would be $750-$1,000.
I think Ronson mostly used the later Mk.'s in the Bender series,- the 2-4; 2020, nice to see him getting the recognition he deserved.Still impressed that GMD knew the Man Who Sold The World EP,- Nirvana made it a little more well known , but for decades it was a obscure, "pre fame" album only familiar to true fans. Some great songs on there, very clearly influenced by Marc Bolan.Ziggy didn't come out of nowhere...
Now THAT is a fuzz! I just ordered the JHS bunrunner from JHS pedals... It's a JHS astro mess fuzz and a modded 60's tonebender in the same enclosure. I can't wait! Check em' out! JHS pedals!
BritTish?!... damn Ammerricanns! ... just kidding. I'll let you off. Nice demo. I love my D*A*M's. You gotta get hold of a Fuzz Sound MkIII man, it's my favourite fuzz pedal ever! Xan :)
It doesn’t sound very Ronno like to my ear and I love Ronno’s tones. The Mark 1 was a copy of a Gibson Fuzz. Though a lot of great fuzz pedals did come from the U.K.
Now THAT is a fuzz! I just ordered a JHS burunner from JHS pedals, its one of their pedals and a 60's tonebender together in the same enclosure. Can't wait! Check em' out: JHS pedals
Cool pedal, I have custom made mk1 tone bender clones from PigeonFX and Ghosteffects pedals with oc75 and TI 2G381 tranny's. They are time machines, mean, nasty, gaty and great freakin tone to die for. Subjective, but those pedals eek out this one in obtaining that YARDBIRDS sound. Thats for the video.
He doesn't sound like Jack Black, he IS Jack Black: The Humor, the money to buy all these amps, pedals, and awesome guitars, the playing style, th SG preference,.......
Well, you're wrong you wily wabbit. The fuzz-Gods' first landing on planet earth was in America! And the Maestro Fuzz-Tone was born as a result; the Brits used the circuit as a template to commence their own (Tone Bender) fuzzbox design thereafter. Nice demo.
I'd check that battery...sounds a bit low ;) @2:58 the sound is unusable for professional recording IMHO.....This may be one of those pedals that you need to message to find just the right setting.
It was the english that created vox and marshall, and the english that created the wah wah, fuzzface, tonebender, octavia, and the treble booster. Not the british lol....
Awsome sound man!! I want that one!! I'm getting one of these babies!!! TY! TY! I'm now off to play guitar insanely! That's what a good sound should do you! Inspire you to play or dnce, or run around naked with hookers, or smash shit up!! rock n roll!
Congratulations on ten years, by the way!
Years too late but the first song is “Black Country Rock” by Bowie and Mick Ronson of course.
Best fuzz sound I've ever heard!... absolutely rippin'!
'Black Country Rock' lick at the start I'd say :-)
Richard James Bolan had some great licks/sound ''king of the rumbling spires'' (or was that with johns children?) elemental child, i love that lead in ''born to boogie''
@7byseven Let us not forget the late great Mick Ronson who played with David Bowie. He also used a MKI Tone Bender for his signature sound during the Spiders from Mars era.
This doesn’t sound a lot like Ronno though. The transistors make a world of difference in these pedals. Perhaps Ronny’s pedal was biased differently?
OMG!!! I THINK I'M IN LOVE!!!! (with the pedal of course. this thing is brilliantly amazing!!!!
such a killer pedal! great demo too!
Gearmandude, trying to get that "ziggy" sound, is this the same as the Ronno MKI Tone Bender?
I think Geramanndude just has some awesome chops and could make any pedal sound sound pretty darn awesome...rock it dude!!!

man. this is definitely my favorite pedal you've done yet. and thats a lot, hah ha
OMG, this sounds like heaven to me!
Hey GMD, have you ever tinkered around to make a fuzz pedal? Seems like a MK1 clone would go REAL nicely w/ the other pedals you make. Or maybe like a germanium Fuzz Face clone, or... I dunno. Just a thought:)
I like the cross between fuzz face and tone bender. They have the bias set perfect. c]8-) 👍
Hi Gearmanndude. I really enjoy your videos especially the D*A*M pedal demos. I only wish that they were available in Australia. I love the 65 Tonebender Mk!.

can someone tell me the title of the final song?? thanks!!
great video and pedal anyway!
Oh my gosh that sounds fantastic
Was Mick Ronson using a Tonebender on The Man Who Sold The World - wasn't it just a cranked Marshall? I always wondered how they played alongside an amp of that volume...
D*A*M*N*, this thing is totally awesome! Where can I get one of those? This model is not on the list at vintageandrareguitars
Your'e wrong about the Fuzz Gods landing in England first gearmandude....They landed here in the states in '62 with the invention of the Maestro Fuzz Tone.
well british are masters of rock. the states can take the fuzz or wharever. no prob.
are you saying the rolling stones are horrible? or the who? or led zepellin? or sabbath or deep purple?
or david bowie
well you got your facts right Mr. you deserve a beer.
TruthFoot nevertheless i disagree on David Bowie, incredible singer, and dispites americans. maybe thats why you cant find him "sincere"

Yep, unfortunately this one's discontinued. The guys at the DAM forum can tell you how many were done - they were a limited run.
Holy shit....
And where can I get one of these??
Where can i find one! D*A*M*N! I need it!!!
@surftherock1 Been chasing this for some time now! Long live Mick Ronson! "Black Country Rock"...
@Guitarman3348 These are discontinued. Good luck finding one. I haven't seen one of these for less then $500... and I'm sure the way people have been jacking up prices on D.A.M. pedals... I'm sure if you found one it would be $750-$1,000.

Ronson used a MKI with a wha that was always on, even during rhythm guitar.
Hey GMD could you demo some Colorsound reissue stompers???
-cb
Anybody know where to buy one of these ( 1965 Tone Bender MK1 Replica effects pedal? I sure want one of these! Am I a year to late?
can we hear some of these D*A*Ms with single coils? (maybe even a strat??)
love your shoes man
really the fuzz gods landed here in the usa the maestor fuzz tone was the first the tone bender was based off the maestro fz 1 fuzz one
First song ? Black Country Road from David Bowie (&Mick Ronson)
From a quick check you basically can't order one of these (or the 1966) which is a darn shame as that tone is a beauty!
Hey gearmandude
Is there any dealers in the US for D*A*M I'm looking hard at D*A*M 1965 Tone Bender Mk I Replica and the fuzzaround?
Is it me or dose this guy sound like jack black
I was thinking the same thing.
If I had a dollar for every time someone has said that.
I legit think that is Jack Black. Am I wrong. Never see his face.
@gearmanndude isn't it Briddish?
What's the title of the song at the end. I can't tell what the guy is singing but I like his voice. :)
Dam sounds sweet
I clicked on this video because the thumbnail looks like a snake about to eat that pedal. And now I want one.
Suburban Havoc snakes are not just for Christmas y'know?
Funny statement,...made me laugh,...thanks.
Not to nitpick but isn't British spelled with just one "T"? Oh yeah, outstanding demo
as usual from the Gearmandude. Thanks dude!!!
Whats with the coily cable? Does it make a difference?
Nice to kick off the jam with a bit of Ronno,
Now THAT is a fuzz! I just ordered the JHS bunrunner from JHS pedals... It's a JHS astro mess fuzz and a modded 60's tonebender in the same enclosure.
I can't wait!
Check em' out! JHS pedals!
Black Country rock 🤟
damn a awesome sound!
@tonewife , Dudley or Tipton ?
What is that on the right side of the pedal?
The opening riff is Black Country Rock, originally played by the amazing Mick Ronson. Do I get my 100 bonus points?
jack black?
GMD The site, vintagegearandrareguitars says it's been discontinued!@?! Noooooooooo
I hear a Saint Anthony´s Fyre riff towards the end too
Black Country Rock homie
BritTish?!... damn Ammerricanns!
... just kidding. I'll let you off.
Nice demo. I love my D*A*M's. You gotta get hold of a Fuzz Sound MkIII man, it's my favourite fuzz pedal ever!

Seriously.. I want a D*A*M so bad.. How can i get one without using ebay???
I thought it sounded best when the side switch was pulled back to the 12 o'clock position and beyond.
@mrbeautiful999 Ha, you're right...at 5:25 for a few seconds...
this is one of the great fuzz pedals ever. Enough said.
There's supposed to be another limited run of the D*A*M 1966. I can only dream...
Black Country Rock!
Cool pedal, I have custom made mk1 tone bender clones from PigeonFX and Ghosteffects pedals with oc75 and TI 2G381 tranny's. HOLY HELL!!!!
well then, obviously you must get the mkII & demo it--it should be every bit as awesome
whoa wtf u sound exactly like jack black r u him?
BLACK COUNTRY ROCK!
ENGLISH, you do mean english and namely London! Clapton baby x x x
He doesn't sound like Jack Black, he IS Jack Black: The Humor, the money to buy all these amps, pedals, and awesome guitars, the playing style, th SG preference,.......
You think Jack Black stalked him? 😜
GMD is a better guitarist, but can he sing?
Sounds pretty damn hot to me. The one Page uses is mega bucks.
Well, you're wrong you wily wabbit. The fuzz-Gods' first landing on planet earth was in America! And the Maestro Fuzz-Tone was born as a result; the Brits used the circuit as a template to commence their own (Tone Bender) fuzzbox design thereafter. Nice demo.

Holy Cow!!! To bad they are so damn hard to get...
Classic Mick Ronson riff: D.Bowie ''Black Country Rock''
a Jimmy Page might say - "That sounds pretty rude"
2:59 Nokia playing satisfaction
eargasm
@phatsound1 This one is better than the real one.
''Black Country Rock''-David Bowie from ''The Man Who Sold The World'' with great guitar from M.Ronson but not Bowie's best moment.
Sounds to me like George Harrison's fuzzy strat on "it's all too much" from the Yellow submarine.

The Britttttish are coming! The Brittttish are coming!
(everyone knows that they do like their teas in England...)
Is this Jack Black??
Awsome sound man!! I want that one!! I'm getting one of these babies!!! TY! TY! I'm now off to play guitar insanely! That's what a good sound should do you! Inspire you to play or dnce, or run around naked with hookers, or smash shit up!! rock n roll!

@sbenson76 Last one I found was $2500.
I KNOW THOSE BOOTS ANY WHERE !
