I purchased my hero 10 two weeks back, and have been having this issue a number of times. Battery will be over 50% charged and I’ll go to turn it on, and nothing happens. While this method has fixed it each time, I feel like it shouldn’t be something that’s happening to a new $600aud camera. Is everyone with the hero 10 experiencing this? If not I’ll need to send it back to GoPro
Dude i just got my hero 10 today and i went to turn it on and it did the same thing. My Gopro hero 8 had this problem as well. I just cant understand why they cant fix this shit.
Bought a Hero 9 Black and used it 3-5 times and now it just won´t turn on. I´m just a week away from the warranty expiring and after 45 minutes on the phone they are replacing it. I have a 10+ year old Canon superzoom camera and it´s NEVER failed. I really can´t believe how a $500+ camera can be so unreliable.
@@danielmatamoros Yep i the gopro10 back and now trying the action 2 . Im just so sick of gopros not being reliable and to be honest the footage on gopros isnt even really that good.

Yeah I double, triple check that it’s actually off. And I also really make sure the light stays solid while charging. I think they have some bad issues with assembly of the electronics or something. Crazy how many people are having this problem.
Haven't used my GP10 for months. I took out battery and SD card and put the charger it turned on. Then I placed the battery (totally drained).. it turned off.. then I kept it charging. Took about 5 minutes or less to get the red-light charging mode. Thank you so much! Helped greatly!

Thank you for this, but why does the camera do this? I have a GoPro 10 and it will do this at random times. I'm not sure if it's overheating (I don't hear a beep or anything), and it's not the battery. It will just decided that after it records sometimes it will not turn on unless I unplug the battery, put it back in, or if I do the power reset option. Why do you think the gopro is doing this?

Thanks a bunch. I didnt use my gopro for about 2 months, and when i tried using it, one of the battries wouldn't charge and the gopro would not turn red. But i followed the instruction and waited 30 minutes and it worked 👍
Haven't used my GoPro 11 in 5 months. Going island hopping starting today.
Took out the bartery and powered it on while plugged in. Removed the cable, and it powered off. Removed the SD card and wiped the contacts off a little, put the battery and SD card back in it, and plugged it in...took about 20 minutes plugged in for the red light to come on.
I seriously just thought GoProade the worst batteries in the world before I saw your video. Truly amazing. Thanks a ton from Cebu City, Philippines.

Thanks bro. You just saved me from buying a new battery 😂, haven’t used mine in 2 years due to a damaged recording sensor. Finally got it fixed and the battery wouldn’t work as it was totally drained.
I left it on charge overnight and woke up to a fully charged battery, the red light is now on as well 😊

I tried all of it and bought 2 new white tip batteries, new card and cable and charger and wall socket works and still no light and will not turn on. the next time it would start up you just never know what it will be doing next. This camera has been a junk from the being it has shot off for no reason and some time not even come on, then while videoing it would start to look like your going through a glass maze on half my video. It has all the newest updates before it failed completely. I have talked to GOpro and did everything they said and i would think it fixed and here we go again. when it finally died i called them again and they said now it out of warranty go figure. This was a great video and info hope it helped someone.
You sir are a legend. I tried everything. The technique that worked for me was plugging it in and then removing the battery and SD card. Popped them back in and it began to charge 🙏👍

I really want this to work. I tried everything you recommended but no luck. When I take out the battery and SD then plug it in nothing happens. No lights or reaction to holding down the buttons. The other functions operated fine while the battery still had charge. Any recommendations? I've heard some mention of a USB3 cable, but I don't see anything official.

I have tried every possible way to get the power on following your steps carefully but with no avail. What worked for me which I want to share with everybody is that I plugged my usb type c cable to my iPhone to download photos and videos. Luckily, it worked. So I was able to download all my videos to my iPhone. I disconnected the cable and tried to power on and off, still didn’t work. I tried it again the same steps as described, and it did not work . So I connected the USB cable again to my iPhone, and try to power it on and off finally somehow it worked. I have seen an error while the USB charging was on it says, your battery was operating in sub zero temperature of 0°. That was not true but however something went wrong may be with the application and now it works fine. I am glad specifically that I am taking a trip around Europe on my motorcycle and I want to record my footage
This helped a lot, GoPro Hero 11 wasn't taking a charge or turning on. I emptied the camera, plugged it in, got immediate powerup. The battery was the problem, so with it plugged in and powered on, then I put the battery back in and it appears to be charging now and functional. Thank you. These things drain so much battery just by sitting on my desk, it's really disappointing, even with a lot of extras turned off. Then it overheats during use smh

Yay, it actually worked. I bought mine from Best Buy. I got it in December, but after using it for Christmas, I haven't used it. Here i am today trying to charge it wouldnt charge needles to say no light was on. I started getting nervous cause this thing was expensive, and i didn't purchase the warranty. I followed the instructions pressed the mode/power button 10-15 seconds, no light, yet i decided to unplug it, but right when I unplugged it, I saw a flash of light. So i quickly plugged it back in, the red light was on..phew 😢

I have a new 11 and power handle. Does this issue happen because of the handle? Just bought it and fully charged it. Connected it to the handle and it completely drained while just sitting there. You did help me get the camera itself to turn on.

thanks! it was the battery issue for me.. i replaced the battery and the go pro 10 was able to turn on and displayed a message that the go pro turned off because it ran out of battery in the previous session. i guess it doesn't charge faster than it drains when the screen is turned on!

Thanks dude, though I was going to have to call gopro support. Mine would turn on but not charge. I took out the sd card and battery and plugged it in. It came on and I put the battery in. Now all of a sudden it no longer says 1 percent, but 30 . I think that worked. I’m going to let it charge and we’ll see.

Whew, you saved me after videoing for 6 hours for work -- thanks! Yes, I removed battery & SD card (wiped card between fingers), returned, and held side button for 10 seconds. It was actually charged 97% but I could not turn it on before this procedure.
Thanks for the help man, my hero 10 wasn’t powered on for about a day and sat overnight in the cold. Once I pulled both battery and sun out and plugged in it powered on. Threw everything back in and I’m up and running.

Thanks bud! Sometimes the order in which things are done makes all the difference. Mine wasnt charging, but taking the batt & sd out, plugging in and powering on/off, then battery back in did the trick. Phew!

But as a backup, I have my trusty old Sony FDR X3000 charging... because THAT is a good camera. Wish Sony would have continued its line. Ugh.
I tried all of these steps and nothing worked to fix it permanently except smacking the gopro on the table with medium force a couple of times and to my surprise that actually solved the problem completely😂

Didn’t work on my gropro 10 😞 tried everything. Just got back from Bali and Australia I used this for rafting and ATV. But I did use waterproof cases and worked afterwards as well. It only stopped working when I got back home here in US.
question will a broken Microphone drain cover make the camera not water proof? like you got on this video with the other camera it has a missing microphone drain cover
I received a replacement and it turned on properly initially. I then attempted to manually update via SD and after the update seemed to not complete it is now stuck in this state. I've ran all recommendations exactly and cannot get a fix. When I hold power for 10 seconds, plug in USB, etc. the front screen has intermediate flashes, but that's it. I feel like there's some bug or the tiniest fix, I just can't seem to find the solution. Any help would be highly appreciated!
My problem is just that my I was swimming with my GoPro 11 and suddenly the port of the battery was opened and then it glitched and after that it wouldn’t turn on or charge I have tried using your methods but they did not work out my GoPro just won’t turn on I have tried everything I can but it won’t turn on so please can you help me figure out how can I fix my GoPro hero 11?🙏

@worldoftech Here is my problem: I have new batteries. They’re fully charged. I follow your procedure with no sd card and no battery and the GoPro10 wakes up and functions. I then install the formatted sd card and battery and everything. Works at first. But after perhaps one hour, it goes back to non-working, not turning on. I need to remove the battery and place it back and it may work or not. I think the camera is damaged. Also, I record a video and I get a message after perhaps one minute recording that a corrupt video file is being repaired and the camera stops recording. Any idea on steps to take? Is it worth my money to send it to repair or replacement? Thanks.

Plugged charger in without battery , Go Pro 9 turned on. Unplugged the charger put everything back In, Battery & SD card, then plugged the charger in, 12 seconds and Boom it turned on & now charging as normal.

I took battery out plugged GoPro into a battery pack and pressed on. I worked ! . Put battery in and it said battery 1%. Thank you so much.

Nice video, thanks. Though I d recommend not using your thumb to clean the SD card contacts, a pencil eraser is a better option and of course make sure you haven't just pet a cat.. static electricity and memory cards don't go well together :-)

About my GoPro 10 yesterday and it don't want to charge more than 80%.
The gopro gets pretty hot.
I've unplugged it a few times and let it cool down and took out the battery and SD card but still don't want to charge over 80%.
Half the time i have to hold down the power button for a long time before it will power on.
I'm using my phone charger for my galaxy Note 8
