  • In this video I feature what is now my favorite AR-15 I own. This one was setup as a "do-all rifle" with a prioritization towards precision shooting. It's a PRI MK12 Mod H. Like other Mk12s, but with a 16" barrel and collapsing butt stock. Making the overall size the same as any standard AR. Topped with a Vortex Razor HD Gen III 1-10X24 (amzn.to/3lcr9TK) What do y'all think of this rig?

      The rig is sweet! I built a civvy mk12, not a clone but the features are present without the high dollar extras. 16 in 6.5grendel. Ff tube. Collapsible stock. First time out 2 bullets in the same hole with a 1 inch cloverleaf. @100yds

      I love MK12 clones! My BCM is a fantastic rifle and probably my fave.
      One mistake I see people make with rifles (yours as well), is mounting scopes with non-QD mounts with flip up back up sights. Kinda pointless and it bugs the hell out me.

    I watched Practical Accuracy yesterday. With a 16" barrel and 77gr Sierra match hit 4 out of 5 shots at 1000yds. Mind you that 16" barrel had a 1:9 twist. Now the point of the video was 77gr bullets are supposed to be less stable with a 1:9 twist. They may vary depending upon barrel from what the video stated, but they looked to be very accurate at 1000yds with the 1:9 twist.

    • @Heywoodthepeckerwood
      @Heywoodthepeckerwood 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      I always thought the same. 1:9 was supposed to not be capable of stabilizing much more than 62-65ish. Maybe I just had crappy barrels. I haven’t owned a 1:9 since my bushmaster in 2002 or so. And that rifle wasn’t as accurate as the new barrels are. Wasn’t even a floated barrel. Couldn’t find accessories worth a damn back then but I do miss buying 2700 round battle packs of South African surplus for $95.

    First is a 1.5×8 IOR Valdada. Second is 3.6×18 Leupold Mk.5 with a tremor 3. Third is an Arken Ep5 5×25. I've was able to shoot three 1/4 minute groups at 200 yards with 77gr factory ammo last week. Goes bang every time and can smack steel at a thousand yards (if the winds not to bad!) • @calholli
    @calholli ปีที่แล้ว +6

    12:50 .. Just a tip-- When your sling is on the end of your stock like that, it's much better to run it on the other side of your stock. So on the RIGHT side QD hole. SO then the strap is actually tucking your stock tightly to your chest when it's hanging, and then when you pull up your rifle, the butt of the stock has a clear path to your shoulder and not smashing your sling every time and getting in the way. It's better in every way.

    From my experience with the MK 12, 1.5 MOA is the average with M262 MOD 1 military ammo. About the same as the 7.62 M110 and M110A1 rifles.
    There's not the expectation of bolt action accuracy, as volume of fire is the priority.
    700 meter shots on an E type silhouette are expected, and 300 meter head shots on a 6 inch circle are regular.

    700+ yds with ANY gun in ANY load of 556 is a tall order in that kind of wind. So Bravo and well done sir! 👏 👏 👏
    I've always used a red dot, and recently got a Vortex 1-6 PST GenII and a 14.5 Geissele Super Duty rifle and started shooting out to 4-500yds and havin some pretty good success this rifle shoots very good and very smooth. Wanna (try to with my optic setup) stretch out to 5-600 just kinda gotta find a spot to set up some steel across a canyon or somethin where I can just leave them up lol don't wanna hump em around every time I go to shoot. But with an offset Delta Point Pro and a 1-6 I've been very happy from 5yds out to 500.

The suppressor is Personal Protective Equipment PPE for the ears.The only thing better in an AR than a 16 inch 556 or 223 is a 16 inch 300bo. For both close and far work. I have a Blkout that gets the job done so far out as far as 2200yds. I have a 24 inch 223 that can keep up with 300bo for accuracy out to 1200yds but than after that the 16 inch BO takes over and never looks back. LMT has had their $200 price tag on that sucker for a long time, NEVER could see paying THAT kind of money…LMT or not. The ‘Bravo’ is B5’s that lacks the storage capability. PRI makes/produces good quality stuff. That optic’s got some killer clarity I imagine..I DO like the reticle. Nice..! Edited to add: Haven’t ever heard the ‘Robin Hood’ concept applied to “Flyers” ha ha: “Stealing from the rich to give to the poor”, kind of works. I want a Holland. Without the SWAN sleeve, that forend is begging for a PEQ
    I wanted a M0D1 badly, purchased one and regreted not purchasing a M0D0. I purchase a MOD0, and instantly regret not purchasing a Holland. Purchased both in the 1/8 twist due to never shooting OTM and I regreted it. Seeing this, I regret not purchasing any of my MK12s in PRI's Tan; though tbh I don't think they were offering it it tan when I purchased my rifles. Anyways, idk what it is amount the Mk12, but I think my MOD 0 is my favorite rifle as well. I really like the mini RECCE aesthetic.
    I really think this would look waaaaay cooler with the tall arms mount, and a chopped trc in front of the turret; the same configuration as the MOD1. Idk why, but I like the aesthetic of RECCES on tall rings. I think it would look absolutely nuts if you threw a m110 stock on. Since you're not going for the clone correct, it would look amazing.
    My Douglas barrels sadly aren't very accurate. I'm just as good as anyone that's slung thousands of rounds, and I'm getting 1.5 moa, if I'm lucky. I love the setup, but I'm dissaponted with the accuracy, especially considering it's a $500 barrel.

    Hey i need to know MOD H vs MOD 0 with the AEM5/OCM5 is there a noticeable difference in tone on the supressor between the 2" difference in barrel? Also is the 18" softer shooting because of the rifle length gas system?

    Ok I’m kind of new to the AR platform, but I have noticed several scopes mounted and the scope covers the rear flip up sight. What’s the point here? Am I to assume if the scope fails you would “remove” it then utilize the flip up sights? Some please explain. Thanks

    generally speaking im more of an AK guy, but the MK12 mod 0 is probably my favorite AR variant. probably the best looking of the military AR rifles imo.

    I'm new to your channel, but I would like to see some 300 win mag at distance.
    I will look through, just in case I missed it.
    Any thoughts on the Bergara B-14 HMR?
    I have been especially curious about this rifle because it seems too good to be true regarding dollars to function.

    Part of me has doubts about the effectiveness of 556 at 700 yards

    • @MellowFellowOfYellow
      @MellowFellowOfYellow ปีที่แล้ว +2

      77gr out of a 16” barrel is still very deadly at that range.
      The issue 5.56 has at that distance is that the BC is not great on most rounds available. So making hits is iffy.
      500 yards is really max combat range for 5.56 out of any length. Beyond that just roll a machine gun up and let them lob rounds in

    • @zacharyharwell351

      From everything I've heard, it has marginal accuracy benefits (read that as almost negligible from I've found), but what it seems to do REALLY well is reduce wear on the barrel. Whether that increase in barrel life is worth it to you is a judgement call though
