  • Barbaresco is truly one of the great Italian wines. Just like Barolo, Barbaresco wines are made in Piedmont winemaking region from Nebbiolo grape variety. In this video I will talk about the Nebbiolo grape, about the Barbaresco DOCG winemaking area and how Angelo Gaja put it on the map, how it is different from Barolo, as well as recommended food pairings.

    Hello Agnes... As always, enjoyed your well designed and enthusiastically delivered Video. You always leave me (and my wine group here in California) wanting to hear more. Hope you plan to gradually extend the video 2 or 3 more minutes... and share with us a recommendation or 2 (or 3) about say a top wine bottle... or 2(e.g. Barbareso in this case) and a top value bottle ... or 2. Could benefit from your expertise and taste. Keep up the good work !!!

    Always ready to go with a wine glass in the bag! Haha. I'd love to visit this wine region someday.

      Yes, always a glass and corkscrew in my backpack! 🤷‍♂️😂 Yes, Barolo and Barbaresco are very beautiful, and during the autumn the fog gives some mysticism to it.

    Perfect video, Thanks for this..been wanting to make the jump to bolder wines like Barbaresco and Barbera to start with..Must get variation from Sangiovese which I may say is quite a lot in my cellar already.

      Thank You 🙏🏻✨ Sangiovese is a great grape, but it only recently got to me and I started to appreciate it more. When it comes to structural elements in wine, Nebbiolo and Sangiovese can be even very similar. 😉

    Hello there! Since you're in the wine world so to speak, I was wondering if possibly you have had the possitiblity to taste the new Produttori del Barbarescos latest release?
    Thinking of their 2016 Don Fiorino riserva that is.
    Considering how rare it is for the Produttori to release new cuveés I'm personally really excited 🙂

      I actually did have the possibility to taste that wine, and I truly think it was great. There is a lot of structure and power, without being heavy or big. It still retained the elegance and balance. And, it is still very reasonably priced (high for the Produttori, but not within the Barbaresco or Barolo appellation).

    Are there any other regions besides Barolo and Barbaresco that use the Nebbiolo grape as their main grape?

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but mostly in Piemonte (Gattinara and Ghemme), also in neighbouring regions Valtellina (Lombardy), for example. 🙂 Quite difficult to find in export markets, though.

    Hi, Agnese.
    I have a bottle of 2013 Sfursat by Nino Negri.
    How do you think, is it time to drink that?

    • @NoSediment
      @NoSediment  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thank You for the question. :) it might have some years of ageing potential still, but if You open it now, I don’t think it will be ‘too early’. You could have an amazing experience with that wine! 😉🍷

    Can’t agree that Nebbiolo is the king or queen of wines.
    That title MUST go to Pinot Noir from Burgundy.
    Sorry luv…..

      It is the way I talk, fortunately or unfortunately. I am sorry it distracts You, but I don’t feel that I need to change my behaviour, if it is not harming anyone. 🤷‍♀️
