- In this video I compare and taste side by side two of the greatest Italian red wines - Barolo and Barbaresco! Although both are distinct appellations within the Piedmont region with unique terroirs, without having a glass of Barolo and Barbaresco side by side, it might be surprisingly easy to mix up these wines in a blind tasting.

I love your enthusiasm. If I've learned anything from you it's that I should enjoy my wines.
Thank You! 🙏🏻 Well, I love wine and how its shows where it is from and people who have invested their time in it. 🍷
Nice video. There’s a lot of information presented in a easy to understand format. Well done!
Thank You! Glad You enjoyed it! ☺️
I agree it’s very hard especially in a blind tasting. Very good info as always. Happy holidays Agnes!
Thank You! 🙏🏻 Yes, I think so too. 🍷
Thank you for the informative & entertaining video. Big cheers from Melbourne 🍷!
Thank You, and cheers to You too! 🥂🍾✨
excellent comparison. Thank you very much
Thank You! Cheers! I hope this helps! 🍷
What an educational video😃 lover it 🍷
Thank You! Cheers! 🍷
Really nice video, so nice and well presented that I am heading down to my wine cellar now, just when I was giving myself a day off of wine lol. Watching you love your wines made me very thirsty so thank you and cheers 🍷😉
Hahaha! I hope You still enjoyed Your evening! 🙏🏻🍷 I kinda a fell guilty a bit now, because day off wine is not a bad idea! 😅
Great call and nice set of wines there! I have the same topic coming up soon
Hahahah! Perfect can’t wait to see it! 🍷
Barolo and Barbaresco are not only wines, they are pure love. can't say much more than this about two wines that talk so directly to my heart.
11:47 and you're confirming what I just said 🥰
I had a great trip to the Langhe in 2018... I guess it is time to return?
It certainly is time to return, especially if You love these wines so much. This region rewards. 🍷
Loved this episode! A Barolo is what got me into wine. It was the first time I tasted a wine I absolutely loved so it holds a special place in my heart.
I am absolutely happy to hear that! 🙌 great wine, that something even industry professionals don’t pay enough attention to. 😉
Awesome video. I love the wine series and have that book along with pretty much all of the others. 😁. Great reference books. I am a Nebbiolo fan for sure, barolo, barbaresco, spanna, chiavennasca, but I do like the ghemme ones too. Oh and as a digestive, barolo chinato is very different and delicious. Cheers!
Cheers! 🍷 Sounds to me that You know Your Nebbiolo quite well! 🙌🙌
Hi Agnes, complimenti and thanks for your video and for your passion...just like an Italian ;)🥰
Thank You! 🙏🏻 Very happy that You enjoyed it! 🍷
😭 I'd thought it was my fault for not telling them apart easily! Even in non-blind tasting, the wines are absolutely not too different. It is also true that terroir and producer have blurred the difference massively across the years. In fact, there's so much to discover within FEET of distance
No, no, it is absolutely not Your fault. These two wines are difficult to tell apart in the blind tasting. 🙌 You are not alone
You are a joy to watch. I don’t even drink and love this channel
Hahahah! Great! 🙌🙌🙌🍷
Excellent description, even though I have both in front of me right now and still forgot which is which...
I mean, they are very similar, and I don’t think anyone should feel bad to not be able to distinguish them. 🤷♀️😊
Very nice and informative video, thank you 🙏🙏. I’m new to nebbiolo wines, a true rookie. I did just try the 2019 Produttori del Barbaresco, and was very happy that my notes were similar to yours 😇😇. Maybe because all I heard was “tannin tannin” prior to tasting, it was lower than expected and the acidity was more pronounced. Another thing I hear is nebbiolo is similar to Pinot noir. I don’t understand that, was curious what you think about that! Anyway, I will subscribe!
Thank You for Your comment. Yes, that wine indeed has defined acidity, for sure!
A lot of people share that thought, and I think it is similar in a way that it is high quality grape, that is difficult to grow (requires a lot of attention) and can express terroir well (just as Pinot Noir), but other than pale color, I see very little differences. And I always liked to talk about grapes on their own, and not compare them with other grapes. 🙏🏻 Cheere! 🍷
Hello Agnes, nice to see that you came again ti our beatifull country and visited Langa in Piemonte. I did visit Barbaresco wine marker Marchesi di Gresy with their 50 vintages and i enjoyed their Red wines. Then thanks to y videos I came and visited Rivetto estate and i loved Barolo Briccolino and Barolo Serralunga 2019 . They are stuck ti my ❤️. Bat alzo sparkling Alta Langa Is a bubble you shall definitively try.😉
Alta Langa is a great sparkling wine, thank You for suggesting it! 🥂 Cheers’ ✨
@@NoSediment btw comparing sparkling wine from outsider champagne region might be focus for y next videos. In Italiy we have 4 Wells established area for sparkling wine Franciacorta, Trento, oltepo and Alta Langa all of them based on the pinot Chardonnay blend.. jeep this within y radar 😉. Cheers🍾
You are so innovative. Great
Thank You! 🙏🏻 Cheers! 🥂
Very interesting and fine Video🌹
Thank You! 🙌🙌🙌
Thank you! I have a few bottles of Produttori and also the Produttori Asili waiting to to be aged properly. I love these wines. Perhaps they are better than the Barolo's but for those I will wait longer.
🙌🙌🙌🙌 definitely, I think ageing them will reward You with great complexity in the glass! 🍷
I absolutely agree that today it's quite difficult to distinguish between Barolo and Barbaresco. The thing is that the wines from these regions (as same as Burgundy or Etna) very precisely reflect their terroir and are extremely sensitive to any change (whether vintage, climate or exposure). There are different villages and single vineyards which are located close one to another, but taste absolutely different. In addition, different producers may use different winemaking technics which make the things even more complicated.
On the other hand, that is why people love these wines.
They are always exciting and never boring.
Do You think it is the region or the grape itself that has ability to express different sites?
I think both
Great wines. As I like powerful wines, Barolo is my cup of tea. I tried this Produttori del Barbaresco and I confess I had high expectation due to its reputation. But, unfortunately, I've got a little disappointed. Honestly, I've expected more.
Don’t worry one bit! That can happen and it is completely fine. I have tasted some highly regarded wines that everyone enjoys, but not me. And sometimes I grow to like them over a time, and sometimes I just realise that it is not my style. We should respect our taste! 🍷
Thank you
Cheers! 🍷
it would be very interesting if blind tasting - barbaresco, montestefano vs barolo, bricco delle viole
These are wines that are not impossible to get. Why did You choose these specific labels?
I love GRANBUSSIA, Aldo Conterno🍷🇮🇹
didnt tried Barolo or barbaresco yet waiting for great vintages 2019 and more...aka 2020 2022 ( i know it will be great) cause i missed great vintages back in a days. do not want to spoil my expectations.
I am sure that great producers will be able to make good wine on a lesser vintages as well. And some of the wines can be very enjoyable at an earlier stage in their life. But if You feel that it is better to wait, I am sure You will enjoy those great years even more! 🍷
How I love the wine from these regions.
Me too, me too! 🙌🙌🙌
It seems, vintage '19 is too early for Barolo wines.
I'm going to drink Fontanafredda Barolo 2012 at the next OTBN on February 2024.
I guess it will be amazing.😁🍷🍷
Of course, enjoy the wine at the age You like it the best! Cheers! 🍷
Were you nervous for your interview with the scarecrow?
Not really, but I was a bit sick. Which is why I didn’t record it at the spot, as we initially wanted to. 🤷♀️
@@NoSediment Aw, I'm sorry. I was just teasing :D
Lovely 🌹 vino 🍷 lady ✨
