    A list of things school should teach (or do a better job at teaching):
    - Self Defense
    - Paying taxes, debt, etc
    - Survival skills/techniques
    - Language (I know some schools already do this, but in my opinion it isnt taught well based off my experience)
    - Mental Health/handling stress
    - Independence/Critical thinking
    - Time Management
    - Self discovery (Finding out who you are, your talents, place in the world, identity, etc)
    - Social skills/co-operation
    Feels good to get that off my chest.
    Feel free to add more...

      +charlie t Good list! If school actually taught those things, though, then where will they fit in time to teach obedience? : (

      +Dope AF Oh yeah! That's a big one. Reading a map is a skill like reading a clock. I've seen plenty of high schoolers who can't read the clocks because they're analog (you know, with the hands and all). They weren't taught! Now the map... If the GPS doesn't give turn by turn directions, people are lost!

      school would be alot better if they teach you things like that rather than stuff from our past 24/7 and the same 4 subjects all the time

    • @mbdg6810
      @mbdg6810 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      i like history too that is my strong point its just you really don't get many options for courses that are unique and interesting until like 10th or 11th grade to pick things that really interest you into a career you might choose. if school is supposed to prepare you for stuff like that then why don't we have choice in more grade levels. i mean finland has shorter school days less homework and alot more successful people than anybody so why not other countries then school would be a pleasure to go to

    • @haaxxx9
      @haaxxx9 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well your points are good but a lot of your points can backfire like a student can be only a few seconds late to class and that reason is finishing up his work in class. He/She to get a tardy pass and walk all the way in front of the school. Along side with crouded hallways and a backpack load of useless shit then that will the anger insider soon turn into action.

    Friends... Yea I won't have many friends along the way but it's nice to meet new people. Just want to stay out of harsh drama that's all.
    Debt... Well I can finally get a Credit Card by myself but I rather put my own money on Pre-paid cards for Amazon or Google play store for some of the items I am looking for. I am currently debt free and it's going to stay that way unless it's emergencies only. I don't need a big house for only me, I don't need the New Camry or Focus or any boring ass modern car that drive them-self's, I am good buying a used Manual 1999 MR2 or a Manual 2003 Ford Ranger (Sorry, I like cars and trucks a lot!). And no, I already Brought me a G5+. That should last me about 5 years with good use and using it as a PHONE to call or to text my family.
    Job, Hey I am about to work at little Caesars soon! I am surprised that no teacher or principle tease us or even threaten my classmates (or me) about working in the fast food industry. I know that some kids skip school in order to work to get money... And yet the teachers are complete dicks and putting them down as "Oh if you keep missing school you're going to be working in McDonald's for all your life!" And funny enough there are some collage graduates working there. Jobs at least pay you money to survive in this world, School don't. School is more of hurting of kids to milk them for money. And that makes me so fucking angry...
    Life?! Mine have not even started and yet I know nothing about the real world. Only less than 6 months till I graduate and I feel brain dead. Being locked inside the box for almost 18+ years of your life and getting release with false/Non-existing information during the last 4 years will cause many fuck-ups for the kids pathway that the teacher "cares" about. They don't tell you that Pencil is not the right way to write, lookouts for danger in your local area, or simply good advice in bad situations. There are teachers like that but I found only a few that really cares about me and relate to me. The rest don't give a shit about my passion about cars so fuck them!
    School? Do I really need to say more? "The best 4 years of your life!" said the mindless drones that think school have all the answers. This is my final year and I have to say this will be my most forgettable years of my life (except the things I did outside of highschool like going to a REAL arcade and Visiting my Local race track which I am going to race on one day.). All it is is just the words "Education" and "Learning" gets thrown around like a dead bird. The system is a complete failure. No one remembers 90% of work of what they did besides a few electives after high school. They don't think about the afterthought and instead think about the "Future" of the children! Lol, no wonder why there are so many lifeless people there. They don't show the kids shit. Video's are not helping ether.
    I don't even remember what I did during 3 years of high school besides ROTC.
    "Life is short. Spend the time to do the things you enjoy. You can die at any moment but when?" They never tell us that but my own family tell me this when I was 10 years old. I am not even exited to even take my diploma because its a common thing and nothing special. It's only special to find more work, that's it. I feel more dead at school then at home or even going to my local city mall. Just taking my diploma and leaving straight to play video games which make me happy.
    Sorry about my rambling... I am getting emotional about High school more, I need to stop this!

    You missing a few things like:
    Investing ~ Most rich people cannot be where they are now without some form of investing. Math logic for investment is the easiest to learn (no fancy crap like pi to the SIN or something like that). And risk has not have to be a scary thing if taught properly.
    Financial Edu ~ If you read Robert Kiyosaki's books and assumed you agreed with him. Then you start reading other authors like Tim Ferries and Napolean Hill (and countless many other). You might find yourself one day thinking that 'hang on! that other guy side the same things so is that and that other guy as well. What is this telling you? Is telling you there isn't much to learn in Financial Education but it does have lifelong benefits. BTW RDPD is not a how-to book is a new perspective introducing the book.
    Risk-taking ~ Not the suicidal ones. The one that called the entrepreneurial plunge. School teaches fear of failure and you know hows that turn out.

    I, being that one really anti social kid who always watches videos like this, am surprisingly not very rebellious towards the adult authorities within school. I keep my mouth shut, do what I’m told, and complain only in my head. Only real bad thing I do is put off homework and end up not doing it. Yet, it’s always the bad kids who get all the attention. Whenever those kids are good for once they are praised where as me and several other quiet, obedient kids are ignored for the most part. And besides that, when a child is “punished” for being bad, that punishment is more so a reward. ISS I’m pretty sure you just sit in a room all day. (Not sure cause i’v never been in ISS) then there’s out of school suspension which is basically a vacation away from school. But then, then there is the absolute BS that is group punishment. One kid slips up and doesn’t correct them self and the whole class is punished, even the good kids. Over all school is just a giant obedience training center.

I still believed school was useful but once I realized it wasn't life sucks because it's literally 1/3 of my day. I remembered learning 6th grade material in 3rd because wanted to😔. Some of it is useful but now just random letters and symbols in math. I'm still hovering around 88-92 somehow.

    School teaches you a lot of things. In class, you learn lots of facts about that subject. Those facts are very useful because they make you able to take a test and hopefully pass it. However, if you didn't remember the facts, then you will fail the test and you learn that you are a failure. It also teaches you that getting good grades means you will be successful and listening to other people will lead you in life.

    Allow me to add a little more about the Debt. Student Loan debt is the ONLY DEBT that you can't discharge thru bankruptcy!!!!!!!! If you take out 100K in student loans, and you major in the something useless (most majors are useless) YOU ARE SCREW FOR LIFE. With college being so expensive today, Yet our high counselors are still encouraging High school student to take huge loans to go to college. It is really a crime. They ruining young lives.

  • @vietnamemperor123461
    @vietnamemperor123461 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You need to do more videos like this. Totally agree. The school system was created to brainwashed little young sheep into modern days indentured servants. When I was in school no teachers or counselors mentioning about student loans and how it can affect your life. All they say is to get scholarships as much as you can and I find that to be BS. However there's one teachers who was honest and told me and all of my classmates that we will not be rich and will be working for someone else to make them rich and everyone hated this teacher and he teach economics. People don't want to accept the truth because its hurts. People want to believe in things the way the want to be but I look at things the way they are not the way I want them to be. Luckily I didn't go to college and everyone think I'm a loser but thanks to TH-cam I learn how screwed up millennials are even if they get a degree. I swear to god I hated school so much and I'm glad I didn't fall into this fraudulent paradigm or else I will be another fool working for the bastard corporate America.

      +vietnamemperor123461 It's scary how blind kids become while listening to the so-called "experts" in the schools. The blind lead the blind and just because a teacher or guidance counselor took at 60,000 in student loans, they figure it's okay for these 18 and 19 year old kids to do the same!

I have lots of good and bad memories from those years. Now three years since graduation day I look back nostalgically at that time.

    One last thing by the way when you mentioning your first job won't be your last job is so true. I'm worrying bout this and its freaking me out about my job. I do labor and I been watching and listening to the true news on how automation and artificial intelligent are capable of taking my job soon. If this is true then America is on the verge of collapse of jobs genocide. Oh boy there's a lot of struggling folks out there.

    • @RyanCapoferri
      @RyanCapoferri  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +vietnamemperor123461 What kind of labor do you do? If it's assembly-line kind of labor (repetitive tasks), then yeah, that will be fully automated soon enough. If it's more nuanced labor (like what we do in the household moving business), then that sort of labor is a long way off from being automated.
      I welcome the automation in general. If a robot and AI can do it, then that frees up humans to do bigger and better things. In the short term, yes, some people will have trouble adjusting, but overall, we have no idea what new types of jobs will become available during and after automation. There's always more work humans can do! We just don't know what it is until it happens

      Its a meat slaughtering manufacturing plant kind of labor. The kind where people pack up meat in small packages then someone would stack up in pallet and move it to the delivering trucks. I guess its kind of repetitive but yeah I think I'm at risk of losing it in the future. They already do that to some fast food restaurant where only the cooker works and everything including the cashier are automated and more retail store like Walmart are hiring less people with part time job.

    • @RyanCapoferri
      @RyanCapoferri  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +vietnamemperor123461 Yup... I'd say that job is likely to become almost fully automated in the future. That is, of course, if your particular company decides to spend the upfront cost on the technology. Only time will tell. In the meantime, you can always start learning new skills and abilities to get ready for when that time comes

    • @vietnamemperor123461
      @vietnamemperor123461 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! I don't think its going to be fully automated but partially. All of the overtime will be cut and what used to take 8 hour or more labor work will be like 5 or 6. More people will have no choice but to rely on government assistance. People from different generations will live in jam house because they can't afford to live on their own and its happening now with the millennials moving back with their parent. Seriously this country is going down the toilet!
      Speaking on labor and manufacturing here is an interesting video to be seen
