- FACT: Stupid school rules are stupid! FACT: I'm going to talk about 6 of these stupid school rules. FACT: There are no school rules in real life. Yeah, after school, all of these rules pretty much go away and you have freedom to go to the bathroom when you want, wear a hat when you want, and even drink water when you want to drink it! I hate school rules like that. Why are there so many stupid school rules?! These are just 6 stupid school rules I'm familiar with. What other dumb rules in school do you have to share?

My school banned bottle flipping. If you flip a bottle you get the bottle confiscated and you get sent to the headmaster. Sometimes you even get community service if you do it often.

In middle school I caught a 104 degree fever so texted to be picked up during lunch and then got my phone taken away but instead forced to drink their tap water which I’m super sensitive to

My school has the stupidist rules every. No Colored bags (that includes gym bags), no Hair dye, no hoods (which is bad because Since my school is mostly open and it rains, we would get sick when walking to class), No phones and no "Distraction things"(painted nails, dyed hair or wigs etc).
There is no casual clothes. When we do get the change to, we have to pay $5.00.

There is something extremely stupid at my school: the dress code.
Boys are not allowed to wear sleeveless shirts or wear jeans that have holes in them.
Girls aren't allowed to wear V neck shirts, or shorts that are not basketball shorts.
Apparently these types of clothes are "distracting" to students
But writing all over your arm or having rainbow hair is apparently okay, even though that is way more distracting.
That's just stupid if you ask me.

i hate the no hoods rule, I'm not gonna murder people if i wear a hood I am not a killer, I usually wear my hood when I'm having a mental breakdown to hide my tears, mental breakdown from the stupidity that is school, i'm not disrespecting the American Flag or anything, but like...WHY? And the no hats thing is stupid, but what really bugs me is no hugging and kissing...BETWEEN FEMALES AND MALES!? THE HECK!! Like, they also do this for two dudes, but two girls hugging and kissing is perfectly okay, I honestly don't care. I wouldn't care less if I seen a bunch of couples in my large commons, but like...Why? Why do you get on to a straight couple or a homosexual(male) couple but not two girls who you have no clue if they're lesbian or not!? School just...UUGGGH!? I hate it. One rule I hate is "NO COKE, NO PEPSI, NO MTN DEW, NO DOCTOR PEPPER" but it's like "you can have tea and water" like....WHY!? WHY DO YOU BAN THESE DRINKS!?

Strangely here in this school you're not allowed to wear hats or hoods but if you're sleeping on the cafeteria or classroom they don't care if you lay your head down AND wear a hoodie to cover yourself.
That's weird. That's exactly why the school I worked in didn't want your hood on... so it's harder to sleep!
Mostly because if you're sleeping you're not distracting others.
Also the modern reason, especially in inner city schools are the Gangs and inner-school gang fights based on such symbols

Fire, fire! Kids rush to their lockers for their cellphonea to inform their parents. They all see a paper. No phones in school! They left it at home. Their parents eat chips and relax while the kids burn.
I would hope the pillars of smoke and all the sirens would alert at least some of the parents. By then, though, it might be too late.

At the high school I went to, they banned public displays of affection because of some students having sex in the restrooms. The problem there is that we're talking about keeping teenagers from making out. It's kind of impossible when your hormones are going crazy at that point in your life.

If you get it taken away from the teachers they will send it to the front office and the parents have to pay $15 bucks to get it back. I had my phone taken away from the teacher and my mother picked it up and got it back. But that is the only way that I can communicate over long distances since house phones don't exist anymore over where I am standing. Scummy ass High school!

The school i went to, you had a pass sheet, with 2 passes each class for each quarter. And yes doing anything from going to the nurse to being late downed those passes for that class.

I missed 80 days of school, my friend missed 120, my other friend missed 95 we all had 4.0's and are in all advanced classes (I'm in middle school btw so you can't get above a 4.0)

I agree, the bathroom rule is pretty dumb, and just normal baseball caps and religious wear should definitely be tolerated.
As far as "daily attendance", students should be given an electronic, like an iPad or something, that airs the teacher teaching in class every day via a closed circuit webcam, and the teacher must have a screen of their own so they can see all the students. Students can stay home and sleep later if they want, or go on family vacations without getting unexcused absences- but they must attend the lecture in live time by being present in front of a Webcam on their device and paying attention, and they must participate if required, plus they must do homework, delivered to all students electronically. Students would still be allowed to attend lectures in person, and get additional help during or after school, and they could bring their devices to class if it helps them. Of course, students would still have to be there in physical form for End-Of-Grade testing and benchmarks...
Food and gum should be allowed, in class, on one condition: About 5 to 10 minutes before class is over, every student (especially those who eat in class) must clean around their tables. No gum allowed under tables, all leftovers MUST be in sealed containers to be taken home. If any desks have gum underneath, or there's a mess left over, no more eating in class for a while (unless you know for certain who it is.)

In my school we can have water, cell phones just not in class, depending on the teacher we can have food, and when we ask for permission to leave the classroom we don't need a pass. It's a Catholic high school

As a recent graduate, I can tell you about a stupid rule we had at my school. They decided to lock the locker rooms all day so nobody could use the restroom during lunch as we weren’t allowed to go anywhere else in the building during lunch. Needless to say, that rule fell apart in a week.

I've read a lot of comments on this video, and none come even close to comparing to my school. I won't mention things he mentioned in the video, although my school obviously has all of those. My teachers and principal make pointless rules to make school as much of a hellhole as possible. They ban things for NO GOOD REASON! They ban going to certain places during the middle of lunchtime for no reason! They banned BOTTLE FLIPPING for crying or loud because it's trending and fun and makes school less bad! We can't have that! They also banned fidget spinners, same reason. Anything is "too distracting" according to schools. Just recently they banned delivery lunches for kids for NO REASON! I have a personal dumb story from this school (well I have many) but this one is the worst. I finished lunch and was going to my locker right next to the eating area to put my lunchbox away. Principal comes by and stops me saying I can't go there right now. I ask why(not in a rude way just in a confused way) and he says because it's a rule, I say why is it a rule and he just ignores me and tells me to get back to my seat or I'll get detention. FUCK MY SCHOOL

This is why I love my 8th period teacher, she makes the last period of the day wonderful and understands the we should get to make our own choices but still gives us structure. She let's us eat in class as long as we clean up after ourselves. She won't get up in your face and question you if you're a few minutes late for class (if you're less than 5 minutes late). She also let's us use our phones or play games on school laptops when we're done wirh our work and always lets us listen to music with our phones. She let's us talk to the people around us as long as someone else isn't presenting or she isn't talking. She also jokes and puts up memes on the walls of our classroom and doesn't assign us things to make presentations about so we get to pick our own topics as long as they are appropriate.
The thing with my school is the dress code. All shirts have to be solid colored with a collar (because apparently stripes aren't school appropriate anymore) no jackets or sweatshirts with hoods even if the hood is down you can't even wear the jacket, no hats, no jeans, no sweatpants, no stretchy pants, no open toed shoes, no boots, not even snow boots, you *always* have to wear a belt, no heels, and you can't carry a purse bigger than 12 inches wide.

My school will give us a dress code violation if we don't have our agendas. We also have to wear our ids ALL the time. And some of my friends had to return their hoodies and buy new ones because the ones they bought were "not school approved"

Oh god, we have a stupid bathroom system. Now we can't just ask to go to the bathroom like we used to. We need to give our teachers a pass that they give us at the start of every week. Now you can't use another students pass, these passes have your name on them. And we only have 5 for the whole week. And every week these passes are colored differently. And we can't re-use them (that's why the passes are colored differently) or store them (it's against the rules so you can't use the last week passes) . Because once the teacher has the pass they have to rip it to prevent that. And if you have no more passes, it's your problem. Unless it's some kind of emergency you don't need one, if not you can't go. And I'm pretty sure the passes are also used to go to the nurses office. So, you're kinda fucked if your in a situation where you have no more passes. But we get to go during break and lunch, but I never like going to the bathroom's on that side of the school where the cafeteria is. Most of the kids that enter those bathrooms are from a higher grade. And the first time I went into those bathroom, I pledged to not ever go in again. And I feel it's not necessary to have this system, but nooo. But basically, that's the system. We have other rules that I find stupid, but this is probably the worst.

CapOhTV Actually yes, it was put in for that only purpose. Teachers just didn't trust students enough, a lot of students would use the excuse of going to the bathroom only to talk to other students or disrupt other classes. But I guess I've gotten used to the pass system. And I just make sure to go to the bathroom before I leave home in the morning. But so far the system works for those trouble kids, so I guess it's alright to have it.
Just say it's an emergency
And if that doesn't work just leave the classroom and go, if they punish you, tell your parents so they will sue the fuckin school

Some teachers are lax on bathroom passes, while others say "do it in between bells blah blah blah" when we literally have just 4 minutes to run across school and go to the bathroom, and here they are calling it "plenty" of time. What a bunch of baloney.

My school has a very strict dress code. By very strict, I mean 1950's all guys Catholic school strict. We ALWAYS have to wear a sweater vest type thing or suit coat even during very hot weather towards the end of the school year. I had a friend who passed out from the heat one year. He was fine, fortunately. (Also, there is ZERO air conditioning in any of the class rooms. Only the offices in the building have AC.)

Our school has a no earbud/headphones rule and if the teachers even see a GLIMPSE of one, then they take it away. They say they're gonna give them back, but how the hell would you remember who you took them from? Apparently this rule was caused by ONE kid a couple years ago, but no one knows exactly what happened. All I can say is bullshit

My school also doesn’t allow hats/hoods just because the teachers, guidances, coaches, deans, and the principal want to know who they are. Like, how the hell is it that hard to tell who that person is. There’s something wrong with you guys.
We can use the bathroom anytime. What if there’s a emergency where we have to use the bathroom? I get that, they’ll miss anything. But just let every student go to the bathroom. And they don’t have a reason to tell there’s bathroom permissions.
If there’s one thing I feel sorry for, it’s the classmates in English this year. My teacher is so strict, she banned food or drinks because there could be ants in the classroom. At the cafeteria during lunch, do you guys see any ants in the cafeteria? Same goes to chewing gum. What if they have a bad breath and they need to use gum?
Okay, if we get free time, why the hell not board games?! I mean, what do we do, sit in seats and get bored?! Sorry, I can’t think of anything else to say.
So all these rules, what the hell do they have to do with education? Absolutely nothing! It’s no wonder a lot of my friends agreed. I can even tell that even workers at my county school are sick of it too.
My school is pretty lax with all this. They let us use phones during breaks and study hall, they allow board games during study hall and even video games during lunch, and even give us Chromebooks for "work" but during our breaks we pretty much just play games and watch TH-cam on them.

In Australia we have to wear hats in the playground, usually in primary school or we are not allowed to play in the playground. I find it funny bc in America i feel like most schools ban hats, but where i live, if u don't have a hat u get in trouble

(Sorry for this essay of a comment but I wanted to explain everything) A few years ago my friend's sports bottle was removed because it was filled with water. They took it away because their shit excuse for doing so is,"It could've been filled with vodka." Later in my 3rd hour he asked the teacher if he can go to the office to if he can get his bottle back, but as he was passing by in the hallway he saw his water bottle was filled with piss on a water fountain. He was furious. He had a good reason to be. 1) It's the teacher's responsibility to protect confiscated items and bring it to the office or police (or at least that's how it was in my school). 2) If it was actually vodka they could've smelled it from miles away. 3) The bottle was filled with piss.
And the "put your hood down" when wearing a hoodie. How the hell does it bother anyone?
In my school, there's literally a rule that you can't show your ankles or you'll get a detention. Like really! Ankles!

So I asked the teacher to go but then she started saying stuff to the class like : " I'm not allowed to go to the toilet in class , so why should you be able to ? " . And then this other time , a teacher didn't let me go because the toilet was on another floor.

My primary school allowed snacks for playtime for KS2. At first they were very strict on bringing healthy snacks but after that I think they just gave up.

Back when I was in elementary school, we weren’t allowed to make gun gestures with our fingers. I was never given a reason why, but my guess would be that the school staff considered it “gang affiliation”. Seriously, it’s not like a bullet will actually get shot out of your finger or anything like that.

My school seems to be somewhat chill on some common rules.
We can play board/card games, we can have colored hair, and piercings. We can go to the bathroom without passes in most classes, just gotta ask. We have to put our cellphones in a basket at the beginning of each class, or keep in your locker/laptop bag.
All classes allow water, and only water. Snacks however are not allowed, unless we are taking test like MAPS or NeSa(for Nebraska.)
My school definitely doesn't allow head coverage, though. Obviously attendance is still there too.

As for the hat thing, people could hide weapons/notes under them. Also, I think maybe to prevent alcohol from being served in school, each teacher could have some water bottles and maybe even snacks. In elementary, we had a morning snack time for most grades. Now, were not allowed to eat in class because we're older? Does that make any sense?
We have two minutes to get to our first class at my school. One of the people working in the cafeteria, where we can't leave until the bell, said that anybody late would be RPCed.

Stupid Rule 1:If it’s raining and you put on a coat on you can’t wear that coat inside so you have to take it off in the doorway and get wet. About 200 people in one doorway at a time trying to get there coats off so they can go in. And then when you get in soaking wet maybe 5 minutes late you get moaned at for being late and when you try and explain the teacher won’t listen.
Stupid Rule 2:If the teacher tells you off and you even dare to reply you are in detention. I’m sorry if I’m not the one doing something wrong and it’s the guy next to me and she’s blamed me I’m not just gonna sit there am I. I’m going to try and explain. And BOOM detention.
Stupid Rule 3:Say your trousers are fitting perfectly at the start of the year but in the last month of year some of your ankles are showing. Boy or Girl. Any age. You are in trouble with the Head.
Stupid Rule 4:This is a tradition around the country and I think it would be illegal to not have. But for me it’s a stupid Rule. For me the problem with school is the wasted time. Time where you do nothing. Cut each lesson to 45 Minutes and make the teachers teach the lessons more rather than spending 5 minutes talking about there day. Then drop Form Break and Lunch. You’ve then got just 5 45 Minute Lessons. 245 Minutes. About 4 Hours. Go into school at 9 come out at 1. Have lunch when you get home. And your free.
Stupid Rule 5:We have to get our planners signed by our parents every single week,and if you forget you get shouted at. I mean it’s not like I have the best memory of all time. Your constantly forgetting where you put the white board pen so how about you understand when I constantly forget to get my planner signed (Forging Signatures is way too hard and not the best thing to do legally)
my school has a rule called the 10-10 rule, because students keep vandalizing the bathrooms making open bathrooms such a valuable resource, they started a 10-10 rule where students may not leave class the first 10 minutes of class or the last 10 minutes of class.
My elementary was rly relaxing, so during recess wen we had it indoor me and my friends would gather and play poker in front of the teacher. It was fun and soon everyone in my class joined and we didn't have enough chips so other ppl brought in chips. And I doubt that any one of us will develope a gambling problem later in life.
The worst thing ever is that when you are sick and tired and had to take a day off school, your teachers make you a get well card!! WITH 100000000 PAGES OF LONG DIVISION

I feel lucky now since my school is pretty lax with their rules, like we can have cell phones out and we can have food and drinks during class. But we can't have cell phones out during class unless the teacher says we can. The only stupid thing in my school is the new french system, because we basically have no teacher supervising us constantly and there are no real french teachers that come everyday. The worst part is since we were placed in the library, there were only 8 computers up front, and there were 9 of us so I ended up in the back so I often get ignored about certain subjects, I didn't even know that there was a person coming in to help us sometimes till a few weeks after.

Well we did have a teacher, for about a month but she got pretty sick and had to retire, but the bright side is we had the best substitute for french, though he didn't know french, he learned with us on the online program. He have conversations with us told stories etc.

I moved to Texas, worked a job for a bit but quite when i realized id probably make more in mexico. *Honestly, most students are best off dropping out of high school and getting a GED. You can then work, go to community college for 2 years, go to a trade school and learn something you'll actually use in life (they often give scholarships). You'll be 1-3 years (depending in age and circumstances) ahead of your peers, and fair much better socially and emotionally.*
* In reality, all you need is a little bit of 9th grade so you don't feel like your missing out, and enough passion and grit to finish with that ged. : if you get your basic certifications, are respectful and polite, confident, hard working, socially aware, and humble,you will gey through life just fine. Another stupid rule we have is, you are not allowed to eat vegetarian food unless you are a vegetarian. I guess it's so they won't run out of veggies, but almost everybody hates vegetarian food so that won't be a problem. I want to eat vegetarian food because I feel guilt when I eat meat. I know it's a kinda stupid argument, but I'm just such an empath xD
Btw, my parents are 100% against vegetarian food. Therefore I never eat vegetarian food at home.

The most bad thing happened to me once:
So I had a fever at 100 degrees I ate panadols but it didnt help I called home to pick me up by using a friends brick phone(nokia) the car came to pick me up but they insisted that why did you call home? I said because I was sick they said you could've come to the dispensary for treatment I told them I ate medicine so they measured my fever and it was a 100 but when I came back from the dispensary the school headmaster had sent my car away and got angry at me for calling my parents even though i had fever. So i had to bear through the classes while being sick and they even confiscated my friends phone which made me feel guilty.
My us history teacher is very chill he said to the class as long as there is no other teacher, principal or administration in the classroom we are allowed to do what we want as long as you get your work done too
Not a rule but a dumb policy.I was getting physically harassed by a student in front of a teacher (hitting punching being called a bundle of sticks), and the teacher forced me to sit next to him no matter what my arguement was "because the seating chart said so" (on top of it she graded baised on her feelings for a student and her mood of the day but that is a different story). One day I just snapped and hit back because clearly no one would help me. I immediately got in school suspension for 2 weeks for fighting despite the teacher's aid, a handful student witnesses (happened 1 week later), giving the true story, and the person who made my life a living hell got no punshment, and a year later that teacher got a HEB award (a cash prize given by texas local chain of stores for teachers that go above and beyond in the classroom) for "caring and inspiring youth" turns out she bribed a student to write in to the submission box. I guess the lesson is, it doesn't matter what anyone does to you because transgender protection laws don't exist. I am so glad I graduated and got out of there
