@Amos Tree indeed it is. I think Ivar was interesting as the leader of the Great Heathen Army. He was doing what Ragnar asked him to do. But when he became king of Kattegat, I didn't like it. Don't even get me started on the other sons of Ragnar! Don't get me wrong, Vikings was great but In my opinion, nobody carried the show as well as Travis Fimmel did.

Travis Fimmel definitely deserves an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Ragnar Lothbrok in Vikings.
Surely, To be honest a lot of people including the actors who played King Ecbert, Aethelstan, lagartha, Floki, Ivaar, King ecberts son (I forget his name but I believe it’s “Aethelred”), Siggy, and many more deserve far more then an Emmy. With that being said Travis Fimmel above all else did a Phenomenal job.

It's a bittersweet moment that Ragnar just before dying got some comfort in seeing someone that cared about him (Ecbert)

Everyone saying they stopped watching after Ragnars death missed out on an amazing show. The last scene was truly heartwarming, a perfect ending.

Ragnar lothbrok. The greatest Viking who ever lived. The one who did more for the Viking clan than anyone since or past. A man who lived his life and changed so much for the people around him. A man who greeted Valhalla with open arms, and left his legacy on the world. I honestly forget this is a show. Congratulations Travis. You deserve accolades for years to come with this performance.

I was picking up a friend one night to go see a movie and when he got into my truck I could sense that there was something wrong with him.
I knew that he started the series a month ago and I asked him how it was? He looked at me and said that a character he really liked died. I didn't know who died until I started the series and now I know why.

It's sad how enemies become so attached to each other and in the end feel a bond of friendship. Reminds me of Ivar and Alfred.. even Madara and Hashirama. You can tell the sadness and emptiness in Ecbert. It's like losing a part of you. Great show !
I think that Ragnar and Ecbert were similar but born in different cultures, they had to be enemys for their own interests but in reality they respected each other and understood the other point of view
@@sirsiver yes they were meant to be enemies but that doesn't mean they hated each other, in fact they understood each other more than their own allies and family.
Vikings is indeed one of the best shows I've ever seen. Every season had something special. But, it's first 4 seasons were the god's gift to us. Writing, storytelling, music, cinematography, all were at its best. And acting was terrific in all seasons.
This is the best written TV series I've ever watched. Truly remarkable.
With the possible exception of 'The Wire', excellence in spades.

One of the interviews is from the Hollywood Reporter interviewing Michael Hirst and Travis Fimmel where he says that he got bitten several times. He's mentioned it before in others as well. Lol. Not hard to believe when working with live animals...hence the non poisonous part being important.
Yeah seen this too, he was actually placed into a pit of snakes to make it more real. He definitely seems like the type of actor to do it

Brilliant acting from a very under rated actor. He was huge as Ragnar. He showed the characters flaws as well as his victories and his compassions as well. Great Job Travis.

Only started watching Vikings a month or so ago and watched this episode last week. It still haunts me and gutted he’s no longer in the show. He was the show and it’s no longer the same without him.
Yeah I stopped watching the show a few episodes after this one non of the new characters interested me and the show didn’t feel the same without ragnar

What a tragic, albeit epic, way for Ragnar to go. What makes it even worse is that he was virtually alone, far away from home with none of his loved ones around. I am, however, glad that Ecbert was there. Sometimes friends, sometimes enemies, Ecbert clearly has a great deal of respect, admiration and even love for Ragnar. Needless to say, this scene brought tears to my eyes. Ragnar, along with Athelstan and Ecbert, is my favorite character and it'll be difficult to continue watching the series without him (yes, I know I'm late to the game), but I'm definitely interested to see where they go from here.

What really made this scene for me was the look on King Ecberts face the smile mixed with sadness and most importantly respect

After this scene I thought the series will no longer be fun, but I was wrong. Ivar the boneless took it to another level, he was a true viking. True heir to Ragnar Lothbroke.
the fact he confessed to Ecbert that he doesn't believe in the gods anymore but would make the speech anyway just for his people because they do believe in them makes Ragnar such a legendary leader. The most viking part of Ragnar was travelling with the mind towards the new and have doubts about the old. That's why Ragnar is the most viking of vikings.
This scene was the most impact full, it made me cry and i watched the entire show 3 times just to see this. Ragnar should have survived to the end

The death of Ragnar was for me truly one of the hardest to watch. Such an amazing character and Travis Fimmel, the actor who portrayed him was immense!

I love how Ragnar felt comforted that King Ecbert was there while he was dying. An old friend to be there with him in his last moments.
The relationship between the two was captivating and special. And they protrayed it perfectly
It’s even more astonishing that Ragnar lothbrok was a real man. He was truly a strong, fearsome, and fearless man. How could someone be that strong.
The most heartbreaking moment in the history of all the movies/shows I have ever watched. This one really hurt and it took me months to go back and finish the series.

I think once Ragnar saw King Ecbert it gave him the strength to talk about the Gods like he told Ecbert he would even though he doesn't believe in them.
I was not happy when Ragnar died and I didn’t think I was going to finish the show or it was going to turn to trash after he died I was very wrong. Not only did this show continue to be consistently amazing it actually made me like Ivar all of the cast after this was insanely talented. I could go on for hours about this show. No other show comes close to this masterpiece. It’s 1000 times better than even game of thrones after what those hacks did to the ending of that train wreck.

Beaten, stabbed, cut, humiliated, his Honor untouched and unbroken and now sitting at the top of the table with the Aesir.
Ecbert saw the man Ragnar was and admired him. Dared even called him friend. For his bravery. For his willing sacrifice. If fates had it he might have been a friend to Ragnar. Having earned his respect and Honour.
Travis Fimmel legendary acting made rangers Character the best in the series’s history.
aelle was never worthy of being a king. No matter what he tried he could never truly defeat ragnar.
Have people forgotten that he did the speech for his sons? In the end he didn’t believe in any gods.
