Kogan Vertical Air Conditioner Unit Review - Part 1

  • PLEASE NOTE:- I just made a discovery that I should have made note of in this video. There is also a drain plug at the front of the unit. It's located directly below the K in Kogan on the bottom of the aircon unti. Handy for those people that want to a run a hose inside, or just empty any excess water/condensation that can build up in the unit if you leave the plugs in.
The timer unit can also be used to turn off or turn on the unit after a specific period of time.
These two new discoveries have made teh unit even more versatile and user freiendly in my eyes.
We have just received and installed our Kogan Vertical Air Conditioning Unit.
I was quite pleasently suprised at how easy it was to install. The frame easily sits into s standard metal window frame, and then it's a matter of adjusting the sliding frame to fit the size of your window frame, tightening a few screws, and then inserting the air con unit into tt's frame.
At first I was worried that the weight of the air con unit would make it difficult to install, however the frame sits very tightly in the window and does not flex or move when the air con unit is sitting in the frame.
I've installed our unit in our backroom where I use my computer, and the 1.75KM does a great job of making the room very cool, even when the late afternoon summer sun is hitting the window here on the Gold Coast in Queensland.
The unit is very easy to operate either from the touch screen, or from the remote.
It so far has also done an excellent job of keeping the weather out when installed in the window, and it has now been through several major storms where the rain and wind were pounding against the back of this unit.
All in all, I think the unit is well worth the money, and it can easily be moved from room to room, or taken to your new home if ever required, which negates the need of getting a glazier involved to fit your air con unit in or out of the window.
YES I would recomend this product.

Yeah super simple to instal. The hardest bit is to get the air con unit to fit into the frame which may require an extra set of hands to help hold the weight while you push it into position so it locks into the frame top and bottom. You might find you have to use a little force to get it to lift over the bottom clips and then seat it into the frame.

Hi yes, we have 2 units for our back bedrooms. We've been running them for about 6-8 months now.
The evenings are now starting to stay warm overnight here on the Gold Coast (Mid November), and the units are now running all night. They are very quiet and dont disturb your sleep. I am in my backroom as I am typing this, and the unit has dropped the temp in this room from 27 deg C to 24 deg C in about 15 min.
It does have a timer function (Havent used it though). Its not a timer to turn on the unit at a specific time, its a timer to run the unit for a certain amount of time before it will switch off.
Overall we are extremely happy with the units and we have just ordered a 3rd unit for another bedroom.

Yes. Depending on the width of your window will determine how much you can leave your window open. The frame is around 45cm, and my window is around 70cm, so I can leave my window open about 25cm during the day to ventilate the room. I'd say it would be a real struggle to fit it in as you have the cord coming off one side, and if your window frame is only 43cm wide, then you will need to cut away at least 3-4cm from somewhere as the widest part of the frame that the air con sits in is 45cm, and you need to allow at least 1-2cm of extra room for the cord to bend down to fit inside your window frame.
Its hard for me to say if you could McGiver it to fit in as I'm no handyman, so I can't answer that question for you sorry.
