I always overthink it when I try to paint. You are a big help with your spontaneous style. You make it simple and your paintings look great! Thank you and God bless.
Loved this prompt! Please do more prompt demos. I preferred this piece without the spatters, however, they actually did add to the dynamic energy which was what you were going for. I still love how it turned out 👍
I love the splatters because you ran with your feelings :) Your paintings lately have been filled with such energy 🙌🙌🙌 Gwen Fox - here on TH-cam just did a video on gratitude As an artist And has us make a list of what we are grateful for I had to put you on the list of course Ty for your teachings encouragement to just go for it and showing us a lot of new things to grow as an artist Happy holidays to you and your family :)
That truly means the world to me, Kelly! ❤️It’s been a joy sharing this energy and creativity with all of you, and I love that you’re feeling inspired to grow. Wishing you and your family the happiest of holidays too! P.S. I'm a big fan of Gwen's!
I loved the way you started this... chaotic application of color first (it certainly avoids any careful preciousness in paint application) and then creating the distinct shapes using the black. Wonderful!
I love the bright colors, don’t like the splatters. They look ok but to me a bit amateur for your level of painting. Well, you asked! I really enjoy your videos
I like the first and last orientations & they speak very differently to me--stable vs. precarious? BTW: I bought your "prompts" PDF & am making a box of 50 long, thin cards out of them for an artist friend who sometimes can't get started. I'm thinking she can spread them out, pull a card & get going. Thanks!
Buon Natale e Buon 2025 dall'Italia🌲🍾
Grazie mille!
Hi Chris, great video and guidance today!! Question: Do you gesso your sketchbook paper before you begin painting? I have a half dozen pieces of multi-media paper tapes and ready to go that I have not applied gesso to. Just wondering what your experience has been? Have a terrific holiday!!
Hey Shari-thank you! I typically don't gesso my sketchbook paper, but because I don't I usually work with thinner layers of paint so the pages don't buckle too much. I'm not against applying gesso to the pages, but I'm impatient and like to get right to painting. Have a wonder holiday as well! 😊❤️
Hey Steven! I was using 1.5 inch (Outus brand) color shaper I got off of Amazon - amzn.to/4gHDre4 I also used a large blue bowl scraper to spread the initial paint on the page - amzn.to/3DpljYn

Thanks so much, Carla! It's a good reminder that losing yourself in the painting is often the best way to go!
“Watch me dry paint” 😂 I love the bright colours, outside my wheelhouse but looks like fun! Love your demos Chris, thanks kindly for sharing❤️🇨🇦
Thanks so much, Helene! 😂
Loved this prompt! Please do more prompt demos. I preferred this piece without the spatters, however, they actually did add to the dynamic energy which was what you were going for. I still love how it turned out 👍
Thanks, Ann! At this point I'm feeling the drips weren't necessary as well.😊
Hi. Enjoyed watching this demo and listening to what you had to say. I'd be happy to watch more of your videos using prompts. Thanks!
Hey Lynne-thank you so much! I have quite a few prompt videos and I'm sure I will be adding more soon.😊
Love the drips! Big fan of splatter.
Thanks you! It's hard to resist the energy of a good splatter, isn't it?

This is amazing! Love it💜

Thanks so much, David! I like to get things going with as much freedom as I can.
Thanks!

so beautiful ❤❤❤ new subscriber
Thanks so much, K! Welcome. 😊
It's funny that you call your tutorials 'warming up' Chris, I always think they are masterpieces :) By the way, I like the drips!
Thanks so much, Syl! That’s so kind of you to say!❤️ I guess “warming up” can still pack a punch-glad you enjoyed the drips too!
Bonjour. Je préférais sans les gouttes mais c’est quand même superbe
Merci beaucoup, Ghislaine !

Thanks so much, Denise! I appreciate your honest feedback! 😊
Drips, squiggles, scratches and blotches are allgood
I appreciate your feedback, Judi!

Thanks so much! ❤️That's a wonderful way to use those prompts! I love how the different orientations make you think of different things.
Drips are good
Thanks, Judy!
Other color than black, maybe nx time? Burnt amber/grey/gold? Merry Christmas, Ann, Florida fan
Thanks, Ann! I think those are great color choices to play with next time. Merry Christmas!

@@chrisloudart Yay, so happy to hear you don't gesso - I don't like waiting either! ☺
What kind of scraper (“color shaper”) are you using?
Hey Steven! I was using 1.5 inch (Outus brand) color shaper I got off of Amazon - amzn.to/4gHDre4 I also used a large blue bowl scraper to spread the initial paint on the page - amzn.to/3DpljYn
The colors for this are very striking. Not sure about the drips.
Thank you! I'm still not sure about them either.
I think drips are too common now. They are everywhere, and don't necessarily improve a piece. I liked your painting more before the drips.
Hey Linda! Thanks for your feedback. I'm leaning into the no drip column as well.
