      @@notknown6605Really? Well done you! My interpretation was a trans person is able to have a new birth certificate issued with male/female altered. However despite the alteration been legally complete, Badenoch says only the original birth certificate would be deemed valid in scenarios such as rape crisis centers, but the altered one would be legally valid in other scenarios. So a person would have two birth certificates which are both valid, as to which one is valid at a certain moment in time entirely depends on what they are trying to do.
      So both certificates are legally valid, but at the same time, both certificates are also not legally valid🙃 What Badenoch now needs to do is draw up and publish precisely where and when either birth certificate is valid. Of which the process in doing so, and what is/isn't placed on it, brings the entire debate full circle rendering Badenoch's policy ultimately pointless, making zero progress on the issue🤷 I hope my interpretation is wrong because this is both her fulltime job and personal pet project crusade. I'd hate to be left with the impression the Conservatives are as ineffective as they are hard-hearted....

    5:35 - I find Badenoch's statement that Mishal Husain is "describing a hypothetical scenario describing when people go into rape crisis centres " as some sort of justification not to answer the question rather baffling. Of course she's describing a hypothetical situation. The Conservatives haven't changed the law yet so there is no real scenario to draw upon. But the Tories must have considered those hypothetical scenarios, or else they wouldn't be trying to change the law in the first place. So all they need to do is clarify exactly how it would work in practice, and - not for the first time - they devoutly refuse to do so.

    i agree that Hussain leant into the wrong end of the argument... to a point. Helena nailed it, i think, when she says that the actual legal framework is so unimportant to Badenoch that she isn't remotely prepared or willing to talk about that side of thing, and I think Hussain's persistent skewering of this highlighted the whole 'vibes' approach to this policy. Where it could have been improved, in hindsight, is if she had followed up that line of questioning with an exposure of that: 'Okay, you refuse to discuss the legal details, so are you effectively saying women's shelters are free to expel anyone they don't like the look of?'

    This post is a very very deliberate intentional misrepresentation of what KB is saying. KB has the mental rigour that you hardly can match or surpass.
    I like Kemi's conviction, honesty and intelligence. Her passion shines through. Perhaps her background in engineering explains her political acumen and sagacity.
    The issues of our day are much more serious than all these gender nonsense. Listen to KB on other issues.

    I've said, and I'll say it again, Badenoch does not understand the Equalities Act and the provision's under sex discrimination that allows for single-sex spaces (that excludes trans people) where there is a justification to do so. Services are already well versed in safeguarding provisions for women, girls and transwomen. It's just innane at this point.

    • @flower4750
      @flower4750 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      obviously it's not, why do you think trans people transition? transitioning changes aspects of sex: hrt changes hormonal sex which changes secondary sex characteristics (i.e. the ones you develop during puberty), and if they have surgery that changes primary sex characteristics

    • @user-rq2qv4gz8s
      @user-rq2qv4gz8s 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@flower4750 Don’t be silly. There are male gametes and female gametes. Women belong to the sex class that produces large gametes. This is how biological sex in mammals is defined. Changing secondary sex characteristics does not change a person’s biological sex. Surgery changes features of appearance, it does not fundamentally change a person’s biological sex. So, you need to start by defining sex. By the way, you also need to define ‘trans’, because modern gender ideology does not require people to do any of the things you mention for them to be ‘trans’ and, according to the ideology, literally a woman.

    I do feel there's a lot of misunderstanding, and in some cases outright misinformation about the equality act.
    First of all, single sex spaces were not hard won rights codified in the equality act, as some people like to claim. Single sex spaces are an exemption to the equality act that existed before.
    It is my understanding that the "clarification" she wants to provide is already how the law is judged.
    If a service can argue that it cannot reasonably provide its service if it's made to provide it to trans women as well as cis women, it is allowed to do so.
    To the best of my knowledge there's only one women's refuge that has even tried to do that, and it's the one fronted by jkr, because most actual refuges know that trans women aren't a threat to vulnerable women and often are vulnerable women needing refuge.
    It's sad, I remember the bathroom bill debates in America decades ago and feeling smug that at least we in Britain weren't that bad. How naive I was.
