      It is too little, too late. The socialists have the WEF, The EU, the UN, NATO and every major government and financial body falling over themselves to pander to their ludicrous demands. The west WILL fall and soon. It is just a matter of how far and whether or nor it will ever be in a position to recover.

    it's not the UK is turning left, it's that the UK is unique in that it has no viable political representation for the right, unlike many European countries. There is a whole demographic that politicians simply are not catering for

      I think UK elites were always so inherently oriented on globalization and internationalization (just by virtue of UK being a lynchpin of that system for long time) so that they are unable to muster nativist sentiments. Because they know that by itself UK is just an insignificant island these days.

      There is, it is the Tory party and you all happily voted for them and cheered on Boris. It just happens when you actually implement these policies like the Cameron, Osbourne era cuts and their non investment for growth it ends up in a disaster with a stagnating economy and crumbling public services. Then you get the largest tax burden in 70 years to pay for all their incompetence and failed policy.

    The man is eloquent, fiercely pro-British and hugely intelligent. Have never heard him say anything other than common sense…

    • @CompassionateCoos
      @CompassionateCoos 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

      That just means he has said things that you already agree with. Common sense is essentially the status quo of your tought, and even the earliest philosophers recognized the need to challenge this common sense at all times, as it may be resting on unjustifiable premises.

    • @AZInMotion
      @AZInMotion 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@CompassionateCoos Ok, now refute one thing he has said here and do so as succinctly and eloquently as Murray does. Challenge him, would you? Can you?

    • @CompassionateCoos
      @CompassionateCoos 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      @@AZInMotion Do you not see that my comment wasnt even challenging whatever Murray has said? I could 100% agree with whatever Murray says and still call out people for agreeing with him "because he speaks common sense" . All i take issue is with this primacy of common sense, and hopefully inform people that there is a better way to base ones beliefs in a more epistemologically rigorous way. And that doesnt necessarily involve being succinct or eloquent, and if that is the basis upon which one judges whether something is true, then one is going to be persuaded by well spoken sophists left and right.
      So hear me out, instead of telling me to refute something Murray has said, try to put one argument that Murray says in a formal way, that is premises followed by conclusion. Then I can challenge or accept the argument. Can you do that?

    • @AZInMotion
      @AZInMotion 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@CompassionateCoos Right, well considering the tone of your initial comment it implied that you didn't agree at all with Murray's views. What if we remove the 'common' and just say 'sense'. Because not wanting to accept more immigrants into a country which is already overflowing with them, and particularly with ones that make no effort to integrate and who commit a disproportionate number of crimes, is absolutely sensible. How 'common' this is well unfortunately it is not nearly common enough or we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. Right?

    • @CompassionateCoos
      @CompassionateCoos 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@AZInMotion Im not familiar enough with Murray's views to agree or disagree with them.
      As for it being sensible or not, that implies it follows from reason. That to me means that it is derived from sound argumentation.I can try to construct from the fragments you said an argument that has the conclusion of "We should not accept more immigrants into our country"
      p1 Country is overflowing with Immigrants
      p2 Some immigrants make no effort to integrate
      p3 Immigrants commit disproportionately more crime than non immigrants
      Conclusion : We should not accept more immigrants into country
      Is this a sound argument? That is, does the conclusion follows from the premises?
      It does not, its like saying something like
      p1 The grocery store is overflowing with apples
      p2 Some apples are rotten
      p3 Rotten apples are bad for health.
      Conclusion: Therefore, we should not buy any more apples from the grocery store.
      The issue with the argument is that you have a hidden premise for each of the premises, aside from the obvious empirical issue of actually determining whether the country is overflowing or how much immigrants do or do not make an effort to integrate. So lets keep it to the premise that I know is true for some countries in europe.
      p1 Immigrants commit disproportionately more crime than non immigrants
      (hidden premise p2) If immigrants commit more crime proportionately, this justifies stopping all immigration.
      Conclusion : We should not accept more immigrants into country
      Now that the hidden premise was uncovered the argument is sound. However, this came at a cost of introducing a very bold premise. One that I cannot accept due to many reasons.
      First, there may be other variables rather than immigrant status that contribute to the increased crime rate, like income status.
      Second, it assumes that stopping all immigration is the most effective and appropriate response to the perceived problem of crime. This is a very unproportional response, nevermind that there may be better ways to curb crime.
      Lastly, there is negative consequences from stopping immigration that have to be weighted agains the potential positives. Immigrants contribute to economic growth substantial, and are crucial for this at a time of demographic decline.
      Maybe there is a good argument to limiting immigration heavily, i havent heard it but I am open to it. I am mostly leaving this comment so that you and anyone else might learn that there is a way for us to determine whether our beliefs are justified or not, as I really believe that if more people use these tools we can have a better world.

    Britain is turning right also. The problem is that our votes for Brexit and the Conservatives - which were motivated almost exclusively by the goal of reducing immigration - were betrayed by a 300% increase in immigrants. And decreased vetting of those immigrants to boot.

      Because for much of the population, immigration really isn't the most important issue. I'm not saying it isn't important and that it isn't affecting more people every year. But that for most of the population, it hardly affects them at all. Immigration is very localised in certain areas, and non-existant in many others. Todays election, with Reform making anti-immigration their core, will show you for exactly how many people immigration is the most important issue. That's the point of democracy. A rare voice of reason in a world gone mad. Sadly we no longer have a decent right of centre political party in this country, one which will do something about mass immigration. Things will get very nasty under Labour, they will introduce draconian laws to curb free speech, just like the SNP did in Scotland. It will be a difficult few years for the UK. Britain can take pride in the fact that historically it has always been ahead of its mainland European counterparts in many regards. Britain was the first country in Europe to begin its right-wing populist revolution with the Brexit vote and the 2019 Conservative landslide.
    England united much earlier than other European countries, laid the foundation for human rights and capitalism, it established parliamentary democracy, had its civil war and subsequent republican experiment, established the largest empire in history and began the industrial revolution; compared to the rest of Europe it was the first to do all these things.
    As a result I believe that the UK will be the first to solve the immigration crisis and begin the cultural and religious restoration of Europe. The UK will only have a left-wing government following the next election compared to other European countries because of first-past-the-post; a voting system which other European countries do not have otherwise it would certainly be a right-wing coalition government.

      That is the case. The UK doesn't have a codified written constitution, for instance. Some argue that it breaches the Copenhagen criteria regarding democratic governance.
      personally I think is at least suspicious that the parliament doesn't have anyone with veto powers over it, like monarchs of European monarchies have, and can simply nominate prime minister after prime minister without any public consultation. Then Rishi has a fever and he can call elections just because.
