I lost my mom recently, I'm only 17. We loved Rocky, watched all 6 movies every year. I will never forget my time with her. Every time I hear this song, I think of my mom. I played this when she was in the hospital, that was her final day. It's true, there's no easy way out.

There's not to many songs that hit the true essence of being a person in this world, especially a person that stands on morals and love down to its rarest form knowing that they have no choice but to take the hard way. This song makes you feel not so alone. When I hear this song, it makes me cry, but it also lets me know that no matter how hard it gets, I gotta keep fighting !

I think in that scene, Rocky was as such incensed and horrified at the death of his friend and mentor Apollo but he was also insanely afraid (and who could blame him) of not only being killed by Drago but losing everything he had earned and he was reflecting on that during the drive. And his own wife doubting him must have added more bruises to him. This song being as tense and dark as it is absolutely captured the moment there.

This song rings true for United States of America especially now, with so many journeys being tested, humbled, and reignited. It of course rings true for many nations clinging to the hope of another President besides Joe Biden as a key world leader. I don't remember this song being one of the ones at a Trump Rally but it sure would belong there.

I survived being shot in the head in 1984 and music has been a huge part of motivation, hanging on when you want to quit! Although song was releases in 1977, it made it big in 80’s due to Rocky, easily the best decade of music, theres a certain feel that I cant describe, I wasn’t even around in the 80’s! What an Amazing, powerful, emotional voice. (the whole record actually) Always wanted more Robert Tepper, he was better than most, highly underrated, and very very much apprciated for the work he did on this album. Like an Angel wrapping his wings around my soul shielding me from so much pain, healing me with his voice.

It’s a shame music like this is not produced these days .
Our generation is lucky to have grown up with real intense and emotional music .

    Lyrics:
    We're not indestructible
    Baby, better get that straight
    I think it's unbelievable
How you give into the hands of fate
Some things are worth fighting for
    Some feelings never die
I'm not askin' for another chance
    I just wanna know why
    There's no easy way out
    There's no shortcut home
    There's no easy way out
    Givin' in can't be wrong
I don't want to pacify you
I don't want to drag you down
But I'm feelin' like a prisoner
    Like a stranger in a no-name town
I see all the angry faces
Afraid that could be you and me
Talkin' about what might have been
I'm thinkin' about what I used to be
    There's no easy way out
    There's no shortcut home
    There's no easy way out
    Givin' in can't be wrong
Baby, baby, we can shed this skin
We can know how we feel inside
Instead of goin' down and endless road
Not knowin' if we're dead or alive
Some things are worth fightin' for
    Some feelings never die
I'm not askin' for another chance
    I just wanna know why
    There's no easy way out
    There's no shortcut home
    There's no easy way out
Givin' in, givin' in can't be wrong, no
(There's no easy way out) there's no easy way out
(There's no shortcut home) there's no shortcut home
(There's no easy way out) there's no easy, no easy, no easy way out

***** Really? Its not just the 80's. There are few love songs anymore, Like zero songs use harmonizing,. Like zero songs use long creative lead guitar parts or even short crafty guitar parts. No horns in songs anymore ie trumpets, saxophones or even flutes. There are less instruments used, less detail in percussion recorded. Few bands or like zero today have two lead singers like ie Styx,The Beatles,The Cars etc etc... There are no bands like Pink Floyd,The Beatles,Journey,The Rolling Stones,ABBA and many many more like a hundred more today and recording sales are proof. This generation is not as creative and even movies, cars and clothes reflect my observation. It is universal knowledge that art of all types has fallen off a cliff. People are not as passionate anymore.

Which is what makes it so great everywhere.

I'd be honored if some fans of classic 80s power ballads would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal performances of AGAINST ALL ODDS by Phil Collins, IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake, and PURPLE RAIN by Prince on my YT channel in tribute to the legends. Live acoustic with no autotune. Thanks and keep on rocking.

Insanely great song and singing performance. And it feels extra right for retro 2024.
