At this point, anyone who has read the Bible and comes away with a unitarian view is either being disingenuous or is not literate. The Jews are basically saying, "How could you know Abraham? He's been dead for generations."
And Jesus is saying, "That's simple. Before Abraham came into being, I am."
And "I am" is the most perfect representation of God. Because He wasn't created and cannot die. So He just is. And if He were to say it, it would be verbalized by, "I am."

The Jews in John 8:58 understood Jesus and their reaction shows clearly. They refused to believe that Jesus is the great I Am who I Am . Glorify Jesus with the glory Jesus had before the world began. John 17:5. . The Muslims Unitarian, Mormons are all in the antichrist camp and are still in their sins ❤

What makes the conclusion for me is the result of Chapter 8. The last line. Because of what He said the result is they wanted to stone Him- they thought by His words He was making Himself equal to God. Actions speak louder than words. Every time He spoke like this to the people they tried to stone Him or throw Him off a cliff . But it wasn’t His time until the full truth was spoke and lived out through/by Him. Then they got to do what they wanted.
    Their actions speak.

This Unitarian fails to comprehend language deliberately. Jesus says he saw Abraham and Abraham did not try to kill him as the Jews wish to. How could Abraham not try to kill Jesus if all he saw was a prophesy of Jesus to come in the future. Jesus is there in front of him for the phrase "did not try to kill me" to be real. You cannot kill a dream/prophesy that you see, only someone/thing there in front of you.
The Unitarian simply refuses to acknowledge the facts the verse is clearly stating.

I don’t know why they would stone Him for saying I knew Abraham in Abrahams day.
I do think they would want to stone Him for saying “I Am”
In chapter 8 they were mad all the way through but just mad. But when He said “I Am”- talk was over
Study the other times they wanted to kill him. It’s because He claimed or did something making Him equal to God
    Actions speak also

  • @bobizzle1605
    @bobizzle1605 ปีที่แล้ว +16

John 8:58 is probably the strongest verse or at least one of the strongest verses in the whole Bible in my opinion, and is honestly the only evidence one should really need that Jesus is God the Son incarnate in the flesh if one truly opens their heart and doesn’t shut it to Jesus Christ being the divine Messiah and savior of humanity.
Judaism and Islam all see Abraham as being the forefather of God’s presence to the world just like Christians, hence why all three are called “Abrahamic” religions, and Jesus says “verily verily I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am.”
Just like how he told Moses who he was in Exodus 3:14 at the burning bush.
That verse alone proves that Jesus isn’t just a man or prophet even though there’s lots of other evidence, and that’s why it’s amazing when non Christians and non Trinitarians tap dance around it and try to claim that Jesus never declared his divinity.
Or better yet, when they have the audacity to say that the Gospel of John is a fabrication or a corruption just because it isn’t synoptic with the other four gospels, and they still blatantly ignore the other evidence of Jesus’s divinity and the trinity even in the synoptic gospels. Lol

The “I AM” statement indicates the Jews clearly understood what Jesus was declaring-that He was the eternal God incarnate. Jesus was equating Himself with the "I AM" title God gave Himself in Exodus 3:14. He is saying that He saw and talked to Abraham, because He is God and that is why the Jews then took up stones because they absolutely thought Jesus was blaspheming.....................
This is the pivotal statement that Jesus makes to declare that he is God, so that every time I have a doubt of the Jesus' promises of eternal life..... I come back to...... God is not a deceiver or a liar..... and so when Jesus says He is God, I absolutely have to believe.... Him and all that He promised.

I feel really grieved for Andrew and others who ascribe to the Unitarian doctrine because in the same chapter they are discussing, i.e. John 8, Jesus warned in verse 24 that if one does not believe that He is God, he will die in his sins.
*”Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”* Notice the pronoun, “He” is italicized which denotes it was not part of the original text; added later by translators. Jesus claimed His deity by saying He is, “I AM” which is a direct correlation to what Yahweh said in Exodus 3:14.
There is just too much Scripture, from the OT to the NT, that supports the deity of Jesus. Another example is John 10:22-38, specifically the Jews’ response to Jesus in verse 33:
*The Jews answered Him [Jesus], saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”* How clear is that? They wanted to stone Jesus because He said He was God.
The Pharisees were not “airheads”. They knew exactly what Jesus was saying. They knew the title, “Son of God” alluded to deity. - [John 10:36]. The Gospel of John’s stood apart from the Synoptic Gospels in that it and John’s other epistles were written to purposely magnify Jesus’ preeminence and deity; hence the beginning of John 1:1-3. John had to combat this same erroneous thinking in his day, e.g. Gnosticism.
Please come out of Unitarianism. Be open to the truth of God; that He is One, in three distinct persons. Again Jesus admonished if you do not believe He is God, you will die in your sins.

It was for this reason that Jesus was crucified. Jesus was crucified under the charge of blasphemy. The Gospel of John testifies that “the Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God” (John 19:7). The violent response of the Jews to Jesus’ “I AM” statement indicates they clearly understood what He was declaring-that He was the eternal God incarnate. Jesus was equating Himself with the "I AM" title God gave Himself in Exodus 3:14.

In case anyone is wondering, when did Jesus (the Logos) come to Abram? It is found in Genesis 15:1, it says, “the word of Yahweh came to Abram in a vision…” If the word is only God’s speech as Unitarians argue for, then how did Abram see the word of Yahweh in a vision? A word is only heard, it cannot be seen. Therefore, the word of Yahweh took on some kind of visible appearance. Trinitarians are saying this word is Jesus Christ. Abram truly did see Christ, and did not try to kill Him but called Him O Lord GOD in verse 2.

Abraham saw the Son of God's day. This theophanic moment is described in Genesis chapter 18, when the Son of God with two angels visited Abraham. He with his angels dined with Abraham before proceeding to Sodom and Gomorrah to bring down fire and brimstone on the two sinful cities.
    Genesis 18:1-8:
1 The LORD appeared to Abraham by the oak of Mamre, as he sat in the entrance of his tent, while the day was growing hot. 2Looking up, he saw three men standing near him. When he saw them, he ran from the entrance of the tent to greet them; and bowing to the ground, 3he said: “Sir, if it please you, do not go on past your servant. 4Let some water be brought, that you may bathe your feet, and then rest under the tree. 5Now that you have come to your servant, let me bring you a little food, that you may refresh yourselves; and afterward you may go on your way.” “Very well,” they replied, “do as you have said.” 6Abraham hurried into the tent to Sarah and said, “Quick, three measures of bran flour! Knead it and make bread.” 7He ran to the herd, picked out a tender, choice calf, and gave it to a servant, who quickly prepared it. 8Then he got some curds and milk, as well as the calf that had been prepared, and set these before them, waiting on them under the tree while they ate.
    Genesis 18:22-23:
22As the men turned and walked on toward Sodom, Abraham remained standing before the LORD. 23Then Abraham drew near and said: “Will you really sweep away the righteous with the wicked?
    Genesis 18: 32-33:
32 But he persisted: “Please, do not let my Lord be angry if I speak up this last time. What if ten are found there?” For the sake of the ten, he replied, I will not destroy it. 33The LORD departed as soon as he had finished speaking with Abraham, and Abraham returned home.

The identity of Jesus is the key to our salvation. Which explains why false teachings completely mangle who Jesus is. This is what separates Biblical Christianity from everything else.
Everyone else says Jesus was just a prophet, a guru, a small g god, spirit brother of Lucifer or just some enlightened man. But the truth is Jesus is God. This fact is fundamental to the Christian faith. Without knowing him, we cannot be saved. Unlike other issues, this is a matter that's not up for doctrinal interpretation because our salvation hinges on it.

Sam is right. Jesus couldn't be referring to an action or reaction by the Jews in contrast to Abraham, if that of Abraham was meant to be futuristic. How can Abraham have a futuristic reaction if there was no in person encounter?
That Abraham didn't behave like the Jews of Jesus's time, shows that it wasn't just a revelation of future events but a combination of a meeting at that time and obviously what was to come, as captured in Hebrews 11 about Abraham's faith.

The messiah is clearly divine. Unitarians, muslims, jehova witnesses, jews, etc will acknowledge it in this life or the next. For example, below Jesus is called el gabbowr in the Hebrew, or Mighty God, a title only used for Jehova Himself in the OT.
Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace
Another example, John the Baptist is preparing the way for the Lord Himself in Malachi 3-4 as prophecied. Isaiah 48 the son is speaking of being sent by the Father and with the Spirit. I could go on for hours, people intentionally pervert the truth.

Sam I just saw this video it's a year old and I think you got it wrong here. In revelation 4 verses 1 and 2 the Apostle John said that he saw Someone sitting on the throne which means God is alone.

Andrew's problem is that he can't stop thinking of Divinity in terms of mortality. He doesn't believe God (the trinity) is Omni-present, he believes God is Immortal. God isn't bound by time, we are (at least while we remain physical).

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.”
    ‭‭1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Wow ! Sam argues as a catholic and the Unitarian like an average protestant! ... " why Jesus didn't tell them..hey guys you're misinterpreting me , eat my flesh is an image, is symbolic. Or to his apostles..hey guys , I going to explain to you the real meaning so yo don't leave as well ..." Revealing !!

Abraham has been dead for decade s,how could jesus meet him ,?simple jesus revealed himself to him "i am" is a statement that only god can make.

Andrew, it literally doesn't matter if they understood him or not, because he said the truth regardless. In order for them to have misunderstood them as you claim, the truth would have to have been something other than what Jesus said. So your argument that they didn't understand holds no merit, because Jesus clearly says the truth: he saw Abraham, and he IS God. What's the problem? Do you just want to win the debate for points?

You can't figure out God like you would fluid dynamics; it is impossible:
But whom say ye that I am?
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
