Former Mormon here, resigned just a few months ago.
Yeah, Sam had him backed into a corner with that scripture in Ether. There are other Book of Mormon passages that do the same thing.
When you realize that Joseph Smith was trying to stick together his mother's Methodist beliefs and his father's Unitarian beliefs, this sort of thing becomes really apparent. It's not just all over the Book of Mormon. All of LDS scripture and theology is filled with contradictions and issues like this.
It's a shame that he decided to go for the rage quit instead of at least sticking around for a bit longer, lol.
Also - you'll find that the popular LDS apologists will refuse to enter into any sort of debate. This is in part because they want to protect their own personal brands, and in part because they also realize that they have no answers to questions like these. Mormon missionary work used to be filled with public debates back in the 19th and early 20th centuries, but you won't see any serious debates anymore.

I began my journey trying to disprove the bible to myself. I've been reading a few hours a day for a year or so now and so far can't. I actually started to attend a church every Sunday and do a Bible study most Tuesdays with the pastor of that church. I believe. Inside I believe and cannot unbelieve.

A few years ago this Mormon kid was on apology is studios to debate. It was very frustrating because any time the Christian would try to respond to a contradiction or question the Mormon would interrupt and keep saying “can I finish?“ It’s like, buddy do you need to be strapped down and have a muzzle in your mouth so people can have a normal conversation with you? Cause its impossible to talk to people who only respond but dont listen.
When the Book of Mormon contradicts itself they have no option but to run!

Ex Mormon here. When I was in the church I remember dropping out of debates with Christian’s too. When I began to read the Bible I came across the verse on not letting yourself get angry quickly. This was humbling because I realized as a Mormon I was very quick to anger and quick to judge. That didn’t come naturally to me so I wasn’t the best Mormon example, but I have more patience now than I ever did. I also know when to step away from someone who has assumed something about me without knowing anything about me. Those are the hardest to walk away from because you know their passions are an extension of their brainwashing.

When a deceiver gets confronted with the truth, they run
Joseph Smiths idea of the Trinity and the Godhead evolved over time. Coming from a Prostitant background, he first believed in the Trinity, hence the different versions of the 1st vision, which started with one being an later evolved to seeing the Father and Son. As time went on, he done away with the Trinity, and the Godhead was the replacement. The Book of Mormon and other LDS scriptures were altered to fit in with the new beliefs.

Kwaku quotes Nephi where Jesus says something to his disciples that none of the 4 epistles say Jesus said to them. Its not even found in the KJV that Mormon's swear is the correct and accurate Bible there is. They say the BoM has stuff that was lost from the Bible yet the KJV matches word for word the oldest known manuscripts of the Bible before their supposed corruption.
So does he think that all of Jesus disciples all missed what Jesus said to them and only a book written by someone who wasn't even present at the time would know better than the eye witnesses themselves?

When I was about 4, I remember attending a church where everyone was welcomed. I learned to love thy neighbor as you love thyself and how everyone was born into sin. ... Then at 6 years old, I went to a Mormon church and was called a sinner because of my skin tone and others who weren't sinners had blue eyes and golden hair. I was only a kid but I remember being so ashamed of my brown skin. Until I remembered the other church I attended before LDS. I stopped going to the Mormon church after that.
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!

I’m saddened to see this. The debate could have been a great chance to win a soul to Christ. Instead, the young man ran away to the comfort of his happy place within lies and blasphemy. I never want to see someone “destroyed” in a debate between two different faiths. I want to see the Christian bear witness of the truth and the life of Christ and the other heart led to God. This young man is definitely on fire to monologue his story but unwilling to engage in the truths that could save his soul. That grieves me. Pray for that young man
