First time gun owner. 25 years old and completely new to any type of guns. Got a mossberg 500 12 gauge and went to the range. Bruised my damn shoulder so bad but loved the pain. Thankful for more videos like this 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Keep a good squared stance if your right handed, lean into it and tucked it tight, one learning curve after tucking it tight, tuck the butt end of the stock more inward into your pectoral muscle than having it more onto your shoulder entirely. It will help with the recoil and won’t hurt much ;)
@@mattnewman2069 thank you! I’ll be sure to keep this in mind. It’s definitely became easier to shoot as I improved my stance l.
Same here. First time trying and my shoulder was bruised
You literally described me...
Well I guess you're 26 now, so almost described me :p
"If you dont hold you shotgun properly, your gonna have a bad time!"
hey thats what I say
Cause I’m sans get it ...no ok
Pizza!!! Dont french fry!
chris goldbach hey little dood. You got some crap on your face 😂
You're* dumbass

Great tips! Just bought my first shotgun the other day. Good to know proper shooting stance before taking it to the range. Your demonstration of what happens when firing from an improper shooting stance was an eye opener. Probably saved my shoulder from taking a beating my first day out shooting.
How well did this apply. Just bought my first 12 gauge. Picking it up it a couple weeks. Was the recoil a real kick?
@@lifeontwowheels3104 Depends on the load and ammo type. Slug rounds kick like a mother
@@DankBurrito420 what do you recommend to try out I don’t want nothing too soft either lol
@@jonathanaldana4941 Look for buckshot marketed for “home defense.” They’re usually softer shooting loads than hunting buckshot and slug rounds
@jonathanaldana4941 a target load is already gonna be more than you're expecting. Definitely start with that.
I just love that smile on your book cover. That's a million dollar smile and I hope one day to have one like that as well.
1:33 OOOWWWWW!!!!
I felt the impact watching it.
If you tuck it a tad more into your pectoral muscle it will help reduce the recoil. I learned that from a police officer who’s had a lot of experience with a shotgun
It's been quite awhile since I've been to the range and I'm sad to say that I've forgotten a lot, so grateful that there are videos like this to help me remember and learn new things.
Shot my 12 guage with one arm not a good idea
You crazy sob
10 out of 10 would try again
I shot one with it against my inner elbow with some steel shot and it was insane
I shoot my 870 Remington 12 ga one handed all the time just bring it down to your hip and shoot I’ve never had a bad time shooting a scatter gun I’d take a shotty over a rifle and a pistol
Glenn I found you.
National Death lmao !!😂
Hahaaaa
He didn't shoot shotguns
Go to hell 😭😭😭
Wooow
Thx. Just got my first shotgun, learning everything about it before I go shoot it. This was a great video.
Fman1292 I had a sore shoulder. 😊 Didn’t hit any skeet either. 🤣
Same here
Dude.. you were awesome in the teachings! Very informative and understanding how to use the shotgun. I'm researching on the exact shotgun you have in hands, the Remington 870 Marine, what a beauty. Looking into the 18" barrel. Not very tall but I know this size will be fine. (5'6) Native American. Thanks for the video, I'll be watching more of your shows. Blue
Excellent instruction! I will be recommending this video to a friend that will be teaching his wife to shoot.
PLOT TWIST: She uses the info to shoot your friend dead.
That shotgun is a beauty!
Great tips. I'm new in the Army and doing some extra research before I go to the Shotgun range
Thanks for the info I just fired mine for the first time today and it was an eye opener on how I need to fix my stance and grip my hand on the pump better when firing.
It’s hard to get guns in Mexico, but when I was like 14 I got to go to a shooting range and this was the gun we used, my dad’s friend tried to explain to me all of this stuff and it went pretty good, except for the stance and how i grabbed the shotgun. I had no accidents but next day I had the most bruised shoulder in history lol. I was pretty accurate with my bad stance tho considering all the knowledge I had with shotguns came from Fallout 4.
Great Video I really like how Chris showed what happens if there is a gap between gun and shoulder !! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 well explained my friend !!!
You Sir, are an awesome communicator.
amazing stuff
Yo 1 of guys from my class is always watching your vids man nice vid btw
Chris Cheng rocks! great explanation
It really is
Great n simple directions...love it.
Great Demo Video ! Thank You !
Very Helpful, I’m Going To Try It 👍
I’ve learned more from this guy than any other place
Very cool
great video!
I love the intro bro!!!
great video thank you
Great video.
shot a 12 gauge for the first time using your advice....this really worked...and I'm only 160 lbs...thanks
I love 12 gauges, super simple almost no recoil and super fun
Clear, concise, thorough and brief.
Well done, sir.
So helpful.
Thank you.😊
After listening to him, I’m not scared of the recoil. Never knew that energy travels to your body
Straight and to the point, without all the inane babble.
👍👍👍thank you sir
Great video!
I suppose this is basically correct for rifles too. I see only one problem in case if this specific (pump-action) shotgun. That foregrip will be slided forward before, and during the shot. Hence you can't really use it the exactly same way as described (slide will be further forward). Theorethicaly, one can still pull by the slide, since it is locked in this forward position until discharge (but after discharge it will be again free to go back without need of pushing the lock lever). Still, as far as I've heard, in case of pump-action shothguns one should rather use pull and push technique (pulling with your main hand, nad pushing with your support hand).
Never
I was taught to pull backwards with my right hand and push forward with my left hand. I could shoot a 10g when I was 9yrs old without getting whipped by it. Pushing forward takes the recoil away significantly. Opposite of shooting a rifle. But it works wonders
Can I ask...are you right or left-handed?
@@joemammolito1519 right
Shotguns aren’t my favorite and recreation gun to shoot but I still need to learn this. Better know how to than regretting later 👍
Good tutorial!
Thank you for your feedback!
What do think about pistol grips for shotguns?
When we were 12 my buddy and I were trying to make a movie and we were rehearsing a scene where he shoots the lock off a shed with his grandpa's shotgun and he held it like a movie star so when he pulled the trigger that shit flew up and broke his nose so bad he had two black eyes.
Mh
Dyd.
Ouch
Thanks for the great video. And for talking to us like we are human and not being degrading for not knowing
crazy
My dad let me fire his DB. I didnt know how to fire and didnt press it against my shoulder. It Hurt the shit out of me and I almost cried..
Nice shoes
Thank you~ just got a shotgun to protect myself and my house and this helped
Did you shot anything by now? Just curious. 🤨
That's a fine looking Remington 870
Constraint. Power.
I get bruises from shooting.. but i have to use my right side even though im left handed because i have a port in my left side.
@paul cholewczynski Forgive me for asking and I hope it's not too private, but what the hell is a "Port in my left side?"
@@JeromyBranch ejection port. You know where your spent brass comes out of after shooting off a round. If you look in the video you can see the window or port where the shell is ejected after the shot
@@brandontaylor6326 LOL 👌. You had typed "I have a port in my left side". I was concerned that you were in some medical disarray.
@@JeromyBranch I didnt type that you did lmao
@@brandontaylor6326 Oh jeez you're right it was Paul above!
Thank you just got my first shotgun, about to head out and shoot
So it’s normal for it to hurt like f 😂😂😂
Try saying that to the guy on the other end of the barrel lol
@@brandontaylor6326 you are awesome
At least you have both working arms, unlike the one FBI agent who got shot In the arm for the 1986 miami dade shooting and hw had to pump the gun with his god arm, then rest the gun on his vehicle to fire.
What Shotgun mark it is on that film?
What model is the shotgun? Mossberg 590A?
Glenn how you been !!!!
as a new shotgun owner i have a armscor m5 shotgun. i have never fired it but i have messed around with it to get a good feel of it, and just curious if i am shooting a pump shotgun do i need to hold the slide release to continuous fire? or is there a way to pump it without having to hold the pump release ?
What you're asking about is "slam fire." Modern shotguns don't do this. Your slide release is not used when you're firing the gun. It's used to discharge shells you don't want to fire.
👍🇺🇸❤
What ammo is it m8 or m1
That's a blade stance and although traditional what is used more these days is a forward stance with rifle aimed straight against your chest not shoulder.
@jebusm86 That's interesting enough friend. I'm an old guy that does old school stuff but always willing to learn a new trick. You gotsa link that you would say is good information for the forward stance? Do you use the forward stance?
I feel like I'm doing it right, but I keep getting a bruise on the inside of my arm. Maybe I need to try elbow out idk
Watching this after reading i am a hero
I have a shotGun and Learnd
Still bruised after 21 magnum high velocity slugs. I'm guessing it depends on the load.
Wonder why he didn’t give a demonstration at the end..
Wasn't this the guy on Top Shot that held a pistol like a cup and saucer style and the experts kept trying to tell him to hold it differently?
Im using a shotgun on my mirror so no one gets hurt
Also thanks for this tutorial
I can now defend myself
Put your weight over front bent knee and you will naturally lean forward...Hence aggresive stance
When gunfiring shotgun looks like throwback 1990s came from monster iconic shooter game?
What shotgun is that
Which is this shotgun model?
Thanks this is going to be a great prank to my grandma
Watching this video after I ripped my shoulder at the range 😂
is that a Remington 870?
This applies to home defense use. For sport shooting the stance is way too wide. Should width at best. And rule number one never get caught looking at the bead
I would just like to know what brand of gun that is?
I believe it’s a Mossburg
Remington 870 Marine edition
i think its a mossberg 590 mariner
About to get my first shotgun....oh boyyyy xd
ZKP what did you get
@@krispychickun8591 Mossberg 930 SPX...you can see it on my channel.
ZKP I got a 590a1 a few weeks ago
@@Tatusiek_1 & @ZKP im having a hard time choosing between the 930 spx and the 590a1, i cant decide
Donnie Inzodda II i only have a 590a1 but the spx probably has less recoil because it is semi auto. and i’m assuming it’s almost as reliable as a 590. But it really depends on if u prefer a pump or a semi auto
Had to make sure I was doing it right lmao I ain’t never hurt my shoulder shooting a shotgun until I got my bullpup semi auto shotgun I shot 1450fps buckshot out of it and it kicked like a mule
Now, does this work on turkeys?
Just watched a bunch of Darwin Awards so I had to double check.
yes but how do i shoot things
watching after i got my first cheek bruise.
You want to have a loose grip and relaxed stance
I can't hold my shotgun handle for some reason but on my left hand I can
its cheaper than gun where i live for non guns beginner its hard to use
What shotgun are you using
That’s a Remington 870 Marine edition
@@stillsettinit thanks man hoping it was a Mossberg 590 Mariner cause I was wondering if it's reliable do you know
@@stillsettinit looking to buy a cheap one
george N they look pretty similar so might be actually. Man plz don’t go cheap on something that u may need to safe your life. U can go cheap on other expenses to save enough for quality. U get what u pay for. And these things will last a lifetime with proper care.
@@stillsettinit sure I will test run since it's used he said it wasn't major and only for like 400 $ if it doesn't jam I think I will go with it

My single shot Topper 48 Still beats my face no matter what. I must still be doing something wrong...
Why is it hurting me I love shooting so much :(
How to why to
All thats right except I was told to put it in my chest not shoulder
Na thats wrong its called a shoulder stock
Bruh he kinda sounds like Martin Cabello
I bruised my arm shooting a shotgun.
Yeah I was holding it onto my collar bone and the skin was getting cut😭😭
Broke my shoulder
Shit about 200 rounds with a 12g shotgun . Guess I wasn’t holding my cheek tight enough my face looks like I was punched by Mike Tyson
I keep punching myself in the nose with my right trigger hand
try to hold it tight and give more distance between your trigger hand and your face.
You're not fitted properly. Your hand should be about 2 inches fro your nose when your cheek is on the comb and your head is not tilted and looking down the barrel so that all you see is the end of the muzzle
Wait what how are you holding it
