Good luck. I played through Normal + Nightmare + Hell with each class (and necro twice) and did some light cow + meph + lower kurast farming on top of that. The highest rune drop I found was a Gul (3 of them, so I ended up with 1 Vex and 1 Gul). The best I could do for my merc was Insight or Reaper's Toll if I didn't need the mana. There's a reason people use modified single player games to put these videos together; the odds of finding this stuff are ridiculously low.
I've had frenzy barb for couple years.. And its been that long that I've had waiting two doom ettin axes ..both only need a cham to be complete.. Its basically never going to drop..

I still find reapers toll better in nearly all cases, as he can deal with those pesky dual immune monsters, if you're a blizz sorc and you meet a cold/physical immune, and I don't mind potting a little bit using warmth
@@jacobtravers7943 the CV is rough if it's not eth (ethereal has a req reduction). I am using a helm with 3 rubies to get +30 strength to use it on one of my mercs. And then I have treachery for my armor. I haven't had the same problem with any other bases, so I'm guessing that's what you have. I keep looking for an eth thresher or CV to replace it so I can wear a better helm with life leech, but no luck so far

Aura stacking mercs gear and you gear can make some really fun builds. Had an amazon last classic ladder in the spring with ICE GM bow, dragon body armor, dream helm...pride on my blessed aim merc. The proc spells where a blast when clearing chaos sanctuary. Definitely a later ladder build for fun.
The merc auras are bugged. If you hire a might aura merc in nightmare and then change difficulty the merc changes the aura to something else. No matter what type you hire or where the aura changes when you switch difficulty. And it's NOT JUST VISUAL the aura is changed to the aura that is depicted. The numbers change but you get no bonus from it. It's been like this since D2R release and Blizzard isn't even responding to it.
Super cheap Lawbringer with Sanctuary aura which breaks physical imunity of undead monsters. I'm using it on my frenzy barb and its also good for act 5 merc ;)
Insight is the only cheap runeword on this list. The rest is like choosing between Gucci and Versace. It's more realistic for most people to run an Act 2 merc with a Bonehew with a shael and amn sockets, a Fortitude or Duress armor and a Guillaumes Face for hit recovery, crushing blow and deadly strike. I can run complete LK hell runs on players 7 without my Merc dying with this setup.
7:01 I am not quite sure that I get that part, if your merc is using infinity all monsters surrounding your merc will get that -55% lite resistance which is why conviction + this stats is GG for Lightning sorceress and javazons. It is not your merc who is penalized with 55 lightning resistances when being attacked by other enemies. Just to clarify ;)
The neg to light res only applies if YOU are wearing the item. It does not work while equiped to your merc. The conv aura is the only stat that actually matters.
there is two different - resistance that's what's confusing, the one from conviction which I think is - 65 fire/cold/lightning applies to everyone attacking the monsters, but the - 55 enemy lightning res on the weapon itself only helps the person wielding the weapon
Been farming with Lightning Orb, just to bypass immunity... Infinity is what i'm going for, then I'll respec for DPS straight lightning... But if I got a Ber, I'd probably make chains of honor... Lol
I made an infinity a week ago, thought I'd be crushing with my lightning sorc, but it's meh for me. I did a respec like 4 times and currently rocking firewall+orb sorc. With the infinity on top, it's really great for mf, way more fun than lightning sorc
I don't get this obsession with Infinity, all it does is make it faster to clear the game, not really make anything more or less viable. Viability is almost entirely based on how high you can get your light damage, which is the expensive part of the gear, getting the equipment for your sorceress. I got a light sorc rocking Insight, and tals sets. so the damage is fairly low. i can clear anything except trav. Get Eth CV/CA/Thresher insight with high ED roll. Treachery, then any life leach helmet. andys is best with the IAS, but not needed. Can literally get the stuff for this really easy. So Fireball/Orber until you can find the insight base in Chaos or Cows. Shouldn't take too long. Usually find one every couple hours at most. Switch to pure lightning sorceress at that point, get your merc equipped with the Insight, Treachery and Life leach helmet(Can find life leach on a lot of stuff, most common drop is probably tals helm though) your merc can kill virutally anything it goes up against unless it spawns with Extra Fast Fanaticism Aura mobs. those are basically insta death. i got 13k lightning, 6.5k chain lightning damage, no Torch, Anni, or really good gear. Just full tals(can substitute the armor and amulet for whatever amulet you can find and viper magi and still be good), spirit monarch, couple random rings i found, chancies, and some rare boots with res i found. Can solo chaos and baal fairly easily. Merc kills most light immunes in 3 or 4 stabs, chain lightning swallows mobs really quick. Charge bolt kills Diablo and Mephisto really quick. Baal takes forever due to his massive health pool, but only takes a minute or two of Lightning. The only thing i've been unable to kill without my merc dying 3 or 4 times is the Council in Travincal. Everything else is quite easy. Unless Lister spawns Extra fast, Light Immune and heals himself. Then he is nearly unkillable for a light sorc without infinity. only happens like 1 out of 1,000 times though. Merc can solo Cow King. Occasionally loses once, then kills him after a revival. Point is, Infinity is only needed to make your run a 15-20 minute full clear of bosses to a 10 minute or less full clear.
Got bummed out cuz I got an superior E-Cryptic and I was hoping for 4OS and it popped with 5…. Bummed I said what runes do I have to mess around with without wasting my reserved HR’s; Made an obedience for Lols…. The high end damage and the -req is pretty damn dope. Lvl 59 merc be smacking really well while finishing out leveling on an alt. I’m always saving bases and often making insights to pass out in the DROP UR JUNK games I make back from US EAST now on D2R.
Obedience is the best non infinity runeword. Toss it on a Might merc give him treachery and a 15 ias jewel vampgaze and watch him kill almost anything.
Once I was setup and could afford it I would normally use the a2 merc that naturally has the holy freeze aura and pair that with infinity...best a2 merc setup imo for basically any char and char type you choose. Also, you could go for an auramerc and use dream helm so he has 3 auras that damage or helps cause damage. Again! If you could use dragon armor on him....yo I'd like to see someone make a video on this and see the potential aha
My old bnet smiter bad a barb merc with an eth last wish collosus blade. The procs on that weapon are so good. Might possibly be the biggest investment in a merc... ever. But he had might, fana, defiance, his own life tap, fade, and huge crushing blow. It is like the only way an act 5 merc is viable compared to an act 2 merc other than just using him to proc decrep.
Would you recommend Phoenix on merc instead of insight for hammer pally? Insight didn’t do much damage and used more for mana but with Phoenix you get both. Ran obedience for damage but had mama issues.
Mana burn is instant 0 mana pool. Mana burn has been glitched since the original game. You get hit by a glitched amount of damage to your mana by mana burn, which ends up like 15k mana damage dealt. it regens in a few seconds regardless.
Hey bro.. its actually a bug right now.. for a NM merc, it'll show you a merc aura that's available in Hell (like Blessed Aim), but rest assured, the Merc will actually use the aura you bought him with in NM. So, a holy freeze aura merc from NM will show he has has blessed aim aura in Hell, but he'll still use holy freeze. So yea, its just a visual bug!
Insight is only 260% due to the extra 50% for your ethereal cryptic axe. ( great weapons, I upgraded to an ethereal cryptic axe from the level 27 pole arm that everyone makes -!: tripled my damage)
You don't know what you're talking about. The Insight runeword absolutely can roll up to 260% enhanced damage and the fact that it is Ethereal has nothing to do with that. The weapons base damage is increased by 50% by being Ethereal, but that isn't a calculated stat listed on the polearm, it's just applied as a base damage boost to the item. If it was Superior 15% then that damage is listed separately and would mean that the potential damage on the weapon could show up to 275% since the 15% from being Superior would just be combined into the 260% (or less if it rolled lower) enhanced damage on the polearm.
I noticed that your runewords were all put into Cryptic Axes. Is this because dmg is more important than attack speed? I’ve been looking for axes with attack speed and now I’m wondering if I should switch my strategy.
These are solely for the Act II merc. You also forgot to include Obedience, which for its cost is a really, really good polearm runeword. But you should also make a video about the other act mercenaries and powerful runewords that can work for them. Faith for a Rogue merc for example, Lawbringer in a Barb merc. Dual spirits in an Iron Wolf merc etc.
All the TH-camrs seem to ignore an Act 1 mercenary equipped with an Edge runeword. For a summoner Necromancer, I find it to be very powerful. How about talking about this combination?
Hell cows. Eth Colossus Voulge if you want the best one that guarantees 4 sockets on quest (or has a 50% chance to roll 4 sockets in cube). Generally people say the cryptic axe is a better base (faster attack speed and less stat requirements), but it's harder to get 4 sockets in those since I belive their max is 5 sockets. Eth CV has a strength requirement of 200 so your merc will need some help. Needed to give mine strength boosting armor just to use his eth CV insight and he is lvl 86.
@@mesger_makes_and_grows3826 no problem. Any is better than none but always nice to get an improvement. Sucks that the voulge line of bases is the easiest for 4 sockets, but is arguably one of the worst polearm bases (slow speed and high requirements. 210 for CV, 200 if you manage to get it Eth).
I have a question about the conviction aura for imune breaking. You are saying that it works best for Lightning because it has lower base resist. However , doesnt this thing stack with Cold Mastery which lowers resist?
Cold mastery is different in that it can't break immunities (although it did for a little bit). So the conviction aura applies and if it breaks the immunity, then cold mastery applies and increases your damage, but if the conviction doesn't break the immunity, cold mastery can't do anything.
There are very very few Cold Immunes that you can break. People have been trying to find ways for a long time to break cold immunes, to no success, besides the early launch of D2R where it was glitched, but has since been fixed. Cold Immunes were purposefully made this way because Cold Sorceress are already by far the strongest class. They got nerfed by Blizzard making Cold Immunity unable to be broken. There are only a small handful of light immunes that you can not break, and usually you can anyways under the right circumstances. Fire Immunes are far fewer that you can break, but there are plenty that you can break anyways. Stacking a lv 40 Conviction with a lv 40 Lower Resist Curse will break 99.9% of Light Immunities, probably 75% of fire immunities, but maybe 1% of cold immunities.
Shout barb is op for starting hell farming, dual spirit and vipermagi then dump all points virtually into vitality mines 65 2.3k hp and in hell farming pits and maus
Why would you say Redemption aura is not really useful? yea 90 per corpse and it is instant like revu potions. How is that no useful? you easily max your manapool every time and most of the time HP too.
Maybe they should think about fixing blizzard. Tired of monsters walking right through it, making 90 degree turns to miss the falling ice. Seems like the entire aoe should do danage. Why is it not doing cold damage inside the animation? Only if the ice connects. Especially ranged. You can stand there and drop blizzards on a stationary target and not hit it. It’s stupid. Plus how a cow can dodge through the animation is bs. I’m not talking about cold immunes cows/monsters. Anything inside blizzards animation should take damage despite taking direct ice hits barring cold immune.

Most of the ones featured in the video are borderline useless. I like showcasing them for entertainment purposes, but at least include the actually useful ones.

Poor Faith Runeword has been forgotten, for the act1 Merc. it has a nice 12-15 Fanaticism Aura

I have a super budget wind druid lvl 92 that clears most p8 hell with no sweat. Ive got to try it with a pride. The nados would be NUTS.

All my toons use Insight like it’s a crutch, I NEED MORE MANA. I finally assembled my HEART OF THE OAK, got a 35 all res one.

I would have liked to see what happens with insight after being hit by a mana burn. A small example in the video of it woulda been useful info. 👍
Some Ghost in Hell can deplete your pool fast. But a mana potion and the Med and it will fill back up. Probably not helpful but I try

You don't know what you're talking about. The Insight runeword absolutely can roll up to 260% enhanced damage and the fact that it is Ethereal has nothing to do with that. The weapons base damage is increased by 50% by being Ethereal, but that isn't a calculated stat listed on the polearm, it's just applied as a base damage boost to the item. If it was Superior 15% then that damage is listed separately and would mean that the potential damage on the weapon could show up to 275% since the 15% from being Superior would just be combined into the 260% (or less if it rolled lower) enhanced damage on the polearm.
I noticed that your runewords were all put into Cryptic Axes. Is this because dmg is more important than attack speed? I’ve been looking for axes with attack speed and now I’m wondering if I should switch my strategy.
If u work ur merc with Andys, u usually hit the 35% IAS - and thats literally the breakpoint for eth CV.

These are solely for the Act II merc. You also forgot to include Obedience, which for its cost is a really, really good polearm runeword.
But you should also make a video about the other act mercenaries and powerful runewords that can work for them. Faith for a Rogue merc for example, Lawbringer in a Barb merc. Dual spirits in an Iron Wolf merc etc.

All the TH-camrs seem to ignore an Act 1 mercenary equipped with an Edge runeword. For a summoner Necromancer, I find it to be very powerful. How about talking about this combination?

Hell cows. Eth Colossus Voulge if you want the best one that guarantees 4 sockets on quest (or has a 50% chance to roll 4 sockets in cube). Generally people say the cryptic axe is a better base (faster attack speed and less stat requirements), but it's harder to get 4 sockets in those since I belive their max is 5 sockets. Eth CV has a strength requirement of 200 so your merc will need some help. Needed to give mine strength boosting armor just to use his eth CV insight and he is lvl 86.
For lower level insights the voulge or Bill are the go to base for easiest 4 sockets since it's got a 4 socket max.
Found a 4 os polearm volge last nite in normal cow level level 28 and made a INSIGHT. Good for leveling. Very cheap to make.

@@mesger_makes_and_grows3826 no problem. Any is better than none but always nice to get an improvement. Sucks that the voulge line of bases is the easiest for 4 sockets, but is arguably one of the worst polearm bases (slow speed and high requirements. 210 for CV, 200 if you manage to get it Eth).

I have a question about the conviction aura for imune breaking. You are saying that it works best for Lightning because it has lower base resist. However , doesnt this thing stack with Cold Mastery which lowers resist?
Cold mastery is different in that it can't break immunities (although it did for a little bit). So the conviction aura applies and if it breaks the immunity, then cold mastery applies and increases your damage, but if the conviction doesn't break the immunity, cold mastery can't do anything.
There are very very few Cold Immunes that you can break. People have been trying to find ways for a long time to break cold immunes, to no success, besides the early launch of D2R where it was glitched, but has since been fixed. Cold Immunes were purposefully made this way because Cold Sorceress are already by far the strongest class. They got nerfed by Blizzard making Cold Immunity unable to be broken. There are only a small handful of light immunes that you can not break, and usually you can anyways under the right circumstances. Fire Immunes are far fewer that you can break, but there are plenty that you can break anyways. Stacking a lv 40 Conviction with a lv 40 Lower Resist Curse will break 99.9% of Light Immunities, probably 75% of fire immunities, but maybe 1% of cold immunities.

Shout barb is op for starting hell farming, dual spirit and vipermagi then dump all points virtually into vitality mines 65 2.3k hp and in hell farming pits and maus
does redemption aura work if you are a caster? or it will heal you only if you slay monsters by melee attacks?

Why would you say Redemption aura is not really useful? yea 90 per corpse and it is instant like revu potions. How is that no useful? you easily max your manapool every time and most of the time HP too.

Maybe they should think about fixing blizzard. Tired of monsters walking right through it, making 90 degree turns to miss the falling ice. Seems like the entire aoe should do danage. Why is it not doing cold damage inside the animation? Only if the ice connects. Especially ranged. You can stand there and drop blizzards on a stationary target and not hit it. It’s stupid. Plus how a cow can dodge through the animation is bs. I’m not talking about cold immunes cows/monsters. Anything inside blizzards animation should take damage despite taking direct ice hits barring cold immune.
How about Faith runeword for I act merc? Does it worth it?

Thats why I play hard-core. Its ALWAYS a thrill and anything I find that I can use I'm stoked, couldn't care less about finding a Zod rune or anything people "dream" of finding.

@@Transcona Yeah, I'm done with D2 as well. Not interested in farming forever to get a Rune rarer than a Gul (which is the best I found while completing the game with each class). Kind of neat to see a surge in pretty content due to the D2R release, but it's the same old stuff with a slight graphic boost.
