Honestly, Speed Champions set designers really know how to cook up solid designs, and working with the artists that work on the prints to make it more... adaptable? I struggle to think of how I can describe the genius of using a single printed piece, not just for cost saving measures, but also to emulate the design in one word. Versatile. That's what some of the new prints are. I still cannot get over how the Ford Mustang essentially uses two tiles with the same print to replicate the taillights perfectly.
This new wave of Speed Champions is absolutely worth being excited about. I have built the Mustang and Audi so far and am just blown away. The Mustang especially had some of the coolest building techniques I’ve ever seen to make an incredibly strong model.
My personal favorite is the Dark Horse. Nowadays, I have such love for horses, and to see the Mustang with the name Dark Horse, come out in my favorite dark indigo blue color along with nifty quirks and features of the car is really exciting. And to date, it is now my adult dream car.
The reason why they didnt use the hoonitron livery is because for some reason, Monster Energy HAAAATES being on licensed models. Its something very common on nascar diecasts where theres no monster cars, and any monster logos are wiped off other cars.
Lego also would probably not want to have energy drink branding on their sets, considering they have a strict policy on "unhealthy/dangerous" things in their sets.
Speed Champions was the theme that got me back into Lego, and i've gotta say you've become my go-to for reviews of the new Speed Champions kits when they release. Thank you for all the detail and info you provide in them!
At 3:00 it's interesting to see they used Technic 1x1 bricks because they have hollow studs on top! Would they have used a regular 1x1 brick with 1 stud on side, the wing would be illegal to put on top of it, since the Lego logo would make the brick higher
It also has the second reason, the assembly attached to it lies on the wheelarch part, where the studs are with logo, and this 1/2 pin has a little play to allow the parts to be mounted "more legally". So win-win for both use cases)
A solid Speed Champions wave with a great variety of cars to build up and display. While the build for this one is probably the most underwhelming the car looks fantastic and great to see Lego actively improving the quality of the stickers as if done poorly they can look pretty terrible. Mustang by far is my favorite but still a wave well worth completing. This make me really excited for Summers line up.
i got the Porsche 964 Lego for my 30th birthday and it has been along time ago i built with lego, but i was baffled at the way it was built and alot of the pieces felt like "illegal lego techniques" and it is super cool to see how these sets are built. Like the upside down snowboard is such a weird thing but in the end it looks so good. Im so impressed at the designers and the choices they take for these new era of small lego cars!
Can't wait to get the whole wave tomorrow in the mail they all look so good and I can go back and build some old sets to see them together like the Audi
Personally, my favourite is the Dark Horse, and I am planning on buying it! I actually did not like it at the press release, but your video has convinced me that it really is the best! Thank you Racingbrick!
Thank you so much!! I dropped a few of my Lego cars and they broke into so many pieces. I also never really keep the instructions (I am from now on 😂) This video saved me so much time and struggling
I initially didn't really like the look of this car from product pictures, but after seeing different angles of it in this video, I want it now. Thank you for always giving very detailed reviews! Side note: I hope Lego gives us that duel-molded wheel in white soon. It's weird that before showing up in basic colors like white, it came out in magenta of all things.
There, you’ve done it, Balazs. I was not really considering getting this set, but now I might. (And I now want also the older Audi 46897, one of the first wave 8 studs wides that I did not yet get…) You are a menace!!
PS I wonder how it looks without the stickers. I will know after the first time building it. I always go naked first time around to see if stickers are really needed. Definitely not always! I can do without sponsors. Things like headlights and grilles are harder to skip.
Seeing them all together makes me even more excited for this Speed Champions release (even though I am not excited about the price). My order would be: 1) Hoonitron 2) McLaren F1 race car 3) Mustang Dark Horse 4) BMW dual pack
I have a Hoonicorn moc with custom decals and a Ken block fig, and let me just say I'm extremely happy to have the E-tron as a set now. Im also working on a 7,000 piece moc of Ken Blocks Hoonigan garage in speed champion scale, its gonna be epic xD. I hope they do more hoonigan cars, their iconic.
Fantastic video. Day 2. Requesting a speed champion Mazda 787B. I’d love more f1 cars but if your looking to be iconic LEGO, than look no further than the Mazda 787b.
I bought this today. It looks even more amazing what in this video. I didn't use all of the stickers, in few places my eyes saw them unnecessary and makes the Audi look cheap I switched 1 set of pieces (the left and right single stud slope pieces with regular slope ones, it should have been a single piece, the gap between the prints is too big) i also added one stud pieces to the gaps under the big rear wing connect points), i will change pieces from one more spot (after i get the correct color pieces ordered) - oh and i agree it is very heavy, its the heaviest car in the speed champion series. (yeah, its the huge rear wing).
Today, after a long time and out of extreme boredom, I finally built a Lego set. Speed Champions Audi S1 e-tronic Quattro on offer at Walmart, 276 pieces for $26 Ca. I thought... it can't be that bad. Visually, the end result is OK (but I don't know how close it is to the original). Bricks are really good quality and there are a couple of nice prints, but also with more than 30 stickers. But the fun of building it is minus 10. The instructions for each building step are 1 - 4 bricks. I didn't just feel like a child, I felt like a really, really, really stupid child. The best building step was... picking out a tile, the next was slapping the sticker on. It says for ages 9+... if your 5-year-old can't put it together, then you don't need to send the child to school at 7 or even hope that the child will ever amount to anything.
Lego won’t use the Hoongan livery simply because it has the monster energy logo. Monster doesn’t want the logo on kids toys. Hence why you can’t find any toy cars or monster trucks with the monster logo also.
I want to see a Hoonigan Double Pack, one of them I want is the Hoonicorn sipicfully the Black livery or Forza calls is the V2 and I made a proper moc out of it and the Hoonitruck.
Doubtful Hoonigan tribute, if we do get one it won't have monster on it Monster is notorious for lack of car diecasts, Lego likely won't be an exception...
I think, that's why we never get Hoonicorn, without Monster livery it will be just a sad all-Black lego car. It won't get its winning look that it should be...
Great video as always. I'm looking forward to the new additions to the speed champions range. Could you give a link to the turntable that you use for your display? it looks really neat. Thanks.
Maybe Audi is just weird when it comes to their drivers, I remember a similar situation with the Quattro, when an exclusive Michele Mutton minifig was only avaiable through a social media thing I hope they don't do the same with Ken, prbly this means we might get a diferent car of him at some point, but is so weird not having any reference here, considering the e-tron exists because of him
@@RacingBrick Thanks for reply! Subscribed btw. you're doing great content man 🙂 Really hoping they do a suite of WRC cars in either speed champs or the Icon series (like the new Senna). Won't really be any wheel issues with WRC cars 😉 Colin McRae, Richard Burns, Markus Gronholm, Seb Loeb, Markko Martin, that mid 90's - mid 00's era 😍
they have been slowly rolling out mroe paper bags in new sets. but not always, sometimes ive even gotten a paper bag with a small plastic sub bag inside. but could also be that Europe is getting hte paper bags before US due to production reasons
I’m not a “car guy” and don’t follow motorsports, and yet I keep buying Speed Champions sets. 🙂 They’re just such interesting builds and often the first sets (or at least the cheapest sets) to get new parts. So for me it’s all about the build experience and the parts pack. Based on that, it looks like the Dark Horse is at the top of my list. Probably the 2-pack is the next-most-interesting, based on the reviews here. But I suspect after the Dark Horse, the rest will take a backseat to Technic Space, City Space, Friends Space, Medieval Village, Monkie Kid, and a couple other things higher on my priority list. Having a serious case of FOMO because this is to me probably the most interesting year of Lego releases in a decade, and I’m on a strict, severely reduced budget compared to the last decade+. 😢
@@J_Dominicano hahahaha didn’t realize they released more throughout the year. An eight stud wide f40 I was actually hoping for, although others might not have
I’m 100% LEGO couldn’t make this a Ken Block set because of the Monster branding. They don’t want to be seen marketing energy drinks to kids. Obviously getting permission from Block’s family and the Hoonigan license would also prove difficult. Ken Block/Hoonigan toys/models/RC are also extremely rare.

This probably my favourite of the wave
it's electric.
@@P33CEGAWD My guy over here hating a Lego build because it's referencing an electric car. Least toxic car guy right here
@@danielllitpek2014 I think this and Vison 74 are the most loved electric cars. And respectfully disagree with you.
RIP ken 😢
If we will be getting a Ken Block lego set, im expecting lego to make the hoonicorn mustang rather than this audi or something else
They’d need to get the required licensing and I believe this car was the last one Ken worked on
I want the hoonitruck, that looks sick AF
Hoonitruck would be amazing. 2nd pickup in lego speed champions
It would be cool to have a Technic Hoonicorn.
@@stussy_ycant forget about the hoonipigasus too tho, that car is just 🔥
I’ve been watching all of these reviews over the past few days and I’m blown away by how great the cars are as well as these videos, great job!

The dark horse is the real dark horse of the speed champions wave
This car is very cool looking. The grey/red combo also really pops.

One of the best line-ups for Speed Champions. Loving all the new techniques, makes it so fun to build and make MOCs with.
2:46 i like how lego use snowboard piece like lotus evija
So glad i bought the quattro s1, easily the coolest speed champions set in my opinion

i like the quattro from 2020 just sitting there looking sad LOL
Good Job Boulash.
P.s idk if i prounced that right
It's Balazs :)
I like the dark horse
Thanks bro you're the GOAT 😎
I agree that this would make a great choice to become a larger Icons vehicle set. I hope LEGO takes up your suggestion!
Mustang and f1 are looking great. However I'd first need to buy Dom's charger and this audi quattro s1 that i missed
This might be the best off road set ever
im getting this one for sure

I didn't think I'd like this more than the Dark Horse until This Review. Great Video!!
Local store stocked these a couple weeks ago by accident. It was an enjoyable build.
Awesome😊Perfect combination with S1 quattro 76897. Past & present together. Look forward to this and the BMW set.
It's nice that they provide some bricks along with the sticker sheet.
Speed champions is becoming my fav theme.
My favorite is the dark horse but i want all the 2024 speed champions..they all look great. except for the thousands of stickers😅
I am really surprised how much I like the F1 car!
I have ordered the Audi already but I might end up with all of them.

Awaiting a Technic supercar for this Audi. It would be awesome to have another cool Audi in Technic ❤ yes, Audi and Technic fanboy ❤
I will buy them all. And cannot tell which I like untill I build them.

We need a full scale technic hoonicorn or rally car for Ken
Im tempted to buy it and try to make a class 1 Audi RS5 DTM car out of it.
The Audi my favourite. 😊
the snowy setting and the colourscheme of the car kinda remind me of the set 8385 exo stealth from 2003.
This and the McLaren F1 car are my favorites
Looks pretty cool, good tribute to Block but not enough representation as you said
this wave has been sick! so far picked up both the $27 f1 cars

when are the space technic reviews coming (sorry ive beenwaitingfor them since i first heard of them)
I have the Kawasaki to review, and then the space sets
:o Thanks!!!!
A real shame there’s no hoonigan license, a Ken Block mini figure would have been amazing.
I removed the windshield wiper and used it as a shifter 🙂
Looks good 👍
i used 4 of the extra parts to spice it up a bit
I love this
