Hi, this might be a weird question, but about those new wheel hubs, do they, like the ones with a gear reduction, not have any wiggle room between the black and dark grey parts? Because i have a 6x6 semi truck built where i have the normal wheel hubs that have the 2 different parts sepparete which you need to click together, but i have the problem that with time and using them that they develope a lot of annoying wiggle room, and the ones with a gear reduction don't have that, but i didn't need the reduction. So when i saw these new ones, i was wondering if they also don't allow any wiggle room
@@wertzuio_Mine does not turn entirely to the right when using the controller, however it does turn fully to the right during calibration and by hand. So I have no idea what to do there, even multiple calibrations does not fix the problem. Also sometimes it will not center after calibration. Hopefully an update will fix it in the future?
To add, you can change the gearing on axles by switching out the differentials, the red one should give you more torque and the old dark bluish gray should be faster.
@@ZEROBRICKS I'm looking forward, something tells me that you also worked on the new Peugeot from Lego :), I'm curious. I'm still working on your universal 4x4, as the gears in the transmission are getting destroyed, I'm waiting for the metal gears to arrive and I believe that everything will be fine
Are you kidding? It is way to expensive and without the Stickers it doesn't even look like the audi rsq-etron. They should really start using prints for their licensed products or at least make it less expensive.
I am really surprised that you already showed us this set! I am waiting for the new wheel hubs for sure and the shorter CV-joints was a surprise for me, but I am very happy to see them as well! Great showcase Balazs! You capture everything crucial aspect of each set, but this time you push it even further! For potential improvement of the speed, I suggest using older differential 62821 which are easy to lock inside. :)
At last, Lego has finally seen the problem with all Lego RC car steering being so loose, they’ve now doubled up on the steering racks. Hopefully we’ll get better steering performance.
I like it. I also like the number of decals. Being a model builder, putting decals is part of the fun for me. At least they made it easy to get to the screws to change the batteries. It has nice detailing and good working suspension. As always, your builds and opinions are greatly appreciated.
I think it's awesome decently scaled vehicle. Suspension is nicely integrated, and the value despite being under 1000 pieces is still pretty good for the hub and motors. Only would've expected it to be a lot faster. Interested to see what you'll do in future vids to optimize the performance.
With all it's shortcomings I still feel I want one now..seems like the building experience is fun which is most of what any LEGO set is about..seeing the actual car in Dakar in person I can say this is very close considering the limitations of technic pieces. Solid review as usual..keep'em coming!😊
Once again, Balasz, you made a set appear fun and interesting I was quite sure NOT to buy - thanks for showing the technic details and the fun you can have with it, maybe I just leave the stickers out 🤠
Looks nice. The issue I have with all these "app" dependent controls is that in a few years it will not work anymore or the app will have disappeared. So I think you should look at the set without the remote control function and see if it's worth it still.
I always disliked app-enabled toys like this. Its fun for a while, but there’s seems to always be connectivity issues. I wish Lego made a Lego pistol grip model or something that you can build to resemble a traditional rc controller. I liked older power functions for that reason
I always refer to Lego's excursions into RC vehicles as Carpet Crawlers... Limited power and torque designed to be run around the kitchen or living room floor. Especially with the IR and now Bluetooth limitations to range. I like to build vehicles with RC components... They're more fun, and easier to control. :)
I think you’re absolutely right and for this reason, I’m seeing this set for an entirely different purpose - I’d like to make a three-motor robot arm :D It’s nice that it doesn’t have internal pieces in a load of different colours - it really does look quite good as a “parts pack” as Balazs said! But it will be a waste to have the wheels and suspension parts left over. I really just feel like doing it to prove to myself it can be done…
To really get the most out of these things, I swap the electronics for a high torque brushed system and servo found in the Traxxas TRX4. I did this to my Unimog and Ford Raptor, and they are so cool. Of course you won’t get the same crawling performance as a TRX4, but it’s just so cool to see a real RC Lego crawler. Right now I’m in the process of putting a Spektrum RC brushless system into my Daytona SP3.
@@RacingBrick Yeah, they break really easily. I think it’s a fair trade off though! As long as I don’t go really fast with the crawlers, there is pretty minimal damage.
I will definitely buy this set! It seems to be very well designed, and it has new parts that I wish I had before. The Control+ app disappoints yet again, but I've come to expect that by now.
Always wanted a Technic RC car was going to get the Off Road Buggy but just didn't get around to it or there were other sets i wanted more. The Audi RS Q Etron is FANTASTIC i love the Rally/Off Road feel of the design, i love it, its large, beefy but has those sleek lines and angular panels. The combo of black and red with all of its decals make it striking against snowy or the desert terrain. And in some countries i can't believe they let you drive it on roads haha.
Great review! Thanks! I had some vouchers from work so I’ve just ordered this set for around $13 😁 it will be my Christmas present this year! Can’t wait to build and play with it with my kid 😍
I'm probably going to get this kit, but honestly, I have the same two complaints I usually have with these RC cars. One, why can't we get one with more zip. I know Lego is aimed at kids, but honestly, kids regularly play with RC cars that are much faster. And, two, I agree that I'm tired of the Control app. I'd pay good money if Lego came out with a physical controller that could be used with all their RC vehicles.
I have this set waiting on bench to be built... I will build it stock first (no stickers of course) but later it will be changed because as soon as I saw this thing on the shelf I said " This is going to be my 2024 Tango and Cash Vehicle" Going to have to make 2 gatling guns for this baby...
I actually got this exact Lego a day before I’m commenting and I only finished 1 part but I learned I could put the main battery that comes in a box in the Lego and add the batteries after. Thx for saying u forgot now I could build without batteries and I’ll add it later. Thx again!
If we consider that a linear actuator has grease inside then we can apply greas as a pure lego way. @RacingBrick, put silicone grease only in the wheel hubs: axle and vertical disk also. I did it with my 9398. 100% performance increase!
9:11 Every racing game I have ever played uses the left gamepad stick for steering, so I think this is actually the norm. But yes, customizability wouldn't hurt.
For the controls I'm not a huge fan 😕. Loved the video as always hoping to purchase this set. Could you possibly create a Tutorial video on how to make custom controls for this set like you showed in the video? I know It would be more work. But I'd appreciate it.
Hy, Why do you think Lego doesn't release anymore sets like the LEGO Racers Outdoor RC 8675? It had the power, agility, and looks not to mention color scheme and tyre color and aspect as well. I had the 4x4 crawler, but was disappointed it was so slow and decided to pass it on to my little brother who in turn will play with his baby boy. It seems that people tend to forget good sets from the early 2000's that had the proper controler, speed, agility and so on. I enjoy your videos!.
For better off-road use and traction a person could put some silicone in the differential to lock the small tan gears to make a locking differential. Just set the differential aside to let the silicone set up.
i will make a moc of this set when I buy it to fix all the issues the original set has, or I would use the motors to make my very custom speed champions model.
You steer with the left hand because thats the default for almost every single racing game in existence . Its also the default on industrial robotic controls.
Damn I need it! Just bought Ford GT and still didn't start assembly. Gonna buy this Audi next month ^^ Also I think this Audi model should have permanently locked rear differential for better offroad performance.
Unpopular opinion: I actually prefer the screw hubs. The batteries just feel more secure knowing the cover was screwed in. Also, since there's no need to use your fingers to open the latch, you can build around all sides of the hub for a seamless finish, especially if you want the underside of your MOC to be completely paneled up or something.
