The DramaLlama if you were just walking and stepped on it, it wouldn’t go into your skin very far at all because you would immediately react to the pain and lift your foot. If you were running or jumping or falling onto one (as opposed to stepping) you couldnt control your weight being ditrubted to your leading leg, and it would go in as far as your weight/angle would allow it. The chance of something piercing your foot and reaching a bone though is next to nothing, you are much more likely to do nerve damage from severe puncture wounds or cuts

I’ve actually had this exact thing happen to me. I was 12, and my dad and I were up in Canada on a fishing trip. The area we were staying in had a really extensive history, and I was in the woods exploring some old mining ruins. There was a lot of dangerous stuff, like broken glass, open mine shafts, and rusty equipment. Plenty of bears with cubs too... So I was being pretty cautious. The ground was all bedrock, since the geology of the region is fairly recent and wasn’t worn by glaciers. So it was reasonable that I didn’t expect anything to surprise me like I would in the denser forest. Yet I must have stepped exactly in the right way to lift a random nail up that was laying on the rock, and stomp it directly into the bottom of my boot and foot. Didn’t go all the way through, but it was close. To be honest, it wasn’t bad at all. It felt like a stick was in my boot, and throughout the whole healing process it just ached a bit. The wound was too small for stitches, it healed up, and I was fine. Not that I wouldn’t encourage you to be weary of rusty stuff, since I probably got super lucky. But overall, I think the experience just sounds more gruesome and unpleasant than it really is. In the end, I do think I pretty much owe everything to the fact that I had my tetanus shot. So make sure ya got yours if you go to the mines... haha

I remember when i was little i was barefoot and i stepped on a plank with a rusty nail it hurt so god damn bad i just yelled and cried and eventually my dad came and pulled me off the board. And washed the hell out of it in the sink. And the blood kept coming and coming out. And we went to the hospital but i had to wait four hours to get treated because other people were having a shittier day. And they soaked it in some medicine. The nail had gone a little bit in front of the ball of the foot. 0/10 stars would not do again.
