Sometimes your dishwasher will also need a new power board.

✨Try these RESET instructions BEFORE replacing parts:
Discovering your GE dishwasher seems to have no power or is flashing and beeping for no apparent reason can be an unwelcome surprise or frustration that might have you thinking you need to call a dishwasher repair technician. However, there’s no need to fret, as chances are the issue can be resolved by performing a dishwasher reset.
How you reset your specific GE dishwasher will depend on its model number and whether it has the control panel on the front or on the top of the door.
What causes the dishwasher to need resetting?
There are several reasons why your dishwasher may need a reset. The more common reasons are a power surge, pressing the start button too many times, a failing component, or an aging control board.
If the dishwasher has been working without any issues or error codes showing, it is unlikely a more serious issue, like a failing component or defective control board, is responsible.
    Power surge or power cut
If there is a power surge or power cut, most GE dishwashers will need to be reset. Reset instructions will vary depending on the model and type of GE dishwasher. However, in some cases, pressing the Start/Reset button and then waiting a few minutes will get the dishwasher to reset and reboot.
For other models, after a power failure the dishwasher Start/Reset button may blink when the power is restored. Pressing the Start/Reset button once should start the drain pump to remove residual water from the dishwasher. After about a minute, the dishwasher should be back to normal and ready to be used.
If the power went out while the dishwasher was in the middle of a cycle, with most GE models, the dishwasher will remember where it was in the cycle and resume from that point.
, the Start/Reset button, when pressed once, will start the dishwasher cycle. However, if pressed twice, the dishwasher will reset. Pressing the Start/Reset button will restart the cycle.
    Beeping or blinking lights
    Press the Start/Reset button
If the lights are blinking and the dishwasher is beeping, it can be as simple as pressing the Start/Reset button to return the dishwasher to normal. The issue could also be caused by the door being open, where closing the door properly resolves the issue. If the issue remains, disconnecting the power will likely solve the problem.
    Disconnect the power
Beeping or blinking lights are often caused by a power surge or an error code.
One way to reset the dishwasher when the lights are blinking or the dishwasher is beeping is to disconnect the power to the dishwasher for 30 seconds. If the dishwasher does not appear to be reset, try leaving it unplugged for ten minutes instead. If your dishwasher does not have a plug, the power can be disconnected from your home’s electrical panel.
    Blinking Start or Start/Reset button
If the Start or Start/Reset button is blinking, the dishwasher is likely shutting down after being reset. The light should continue blinking for 75-90 seconds before turning off. Once the dishwasher turns off, you can press Start to turn it on, and the dishwasher should be reset and ready to go.
    Kickplate reset button
Some GE models have a reset button behind the kickplate access panel. If your GE model has a kickplate, you can unthread the screws to remove the access panel, and you may find two buttons in the bottom left corner. Pressing the first button will reset your GE dishwasher.
Make sure to disconnect the power before removing the access panel, as the junction box wires may be exposed, which could electrocute you, especially if you are unfamiliar with what is behind the kickplate.
To put the dishwasher in service mode, hold the Select Cycle button and the Start button down for five seconds. Next, to reset the dishwasher, press the Select Cycle button for five seconds. This should activate the lock button light. Press Select Cycle again for five seconds. Hold the Start button now for five seconds. The Start button should start flashing. Finally, hold the Start and Select Cycle button down for five seconds. The dishwasher control panel should now light up, and the dishwasher should be ready to go.

I had the same issue--beeping three times, meaning the door is "open." I saw another video that said the plastic latch mechanism can become slightly worn over time, and the two pieces that engage are not tight, so I wrapped a small piece of electrical tape around the door's latch (the triangular piece) to make it a more snug fit, and it worked. Now it sees it as "closed." No unscrewing anything, no buying the part. Free fix.

@@luckynicky13 Well, I hope the fix lasts longer for you than it did me. Within about a week or so, the same problem returned. This time, nothing I could do would work. Had to call someone in to diagnose it, and they said the circuit board on the top of the door wasn't seeing one on the bottom, resulting in the same "open door" sensor. Said it would cost a few hundred to fix it, and a whole new one was about double, so I caved and replaced it.

Thank you so much for posting this video! Mine had been giving me this problem off and on for a few months and I would just unplug it for about 10 minutes and it would reset itself and work again. Until it didn't. THANKSGIVING NIGHT when it was filled to the gills with dirty dishes it wouldn't start no matter what I did. Thanks to your video explaining the different coded beeps I was just able to conclude that the main board needed to be replaced in order to fix it. I was able to install the new board and get it running again! What a lifesaver! You saved me from an expensive call to a repairman or outright buying a new washer. I appreciate it.

At the moment I am having this issue. Turning off the breaker (power) to the dishwasher for ~3 minutes then powering back on clears the issue. At least, it has the two times so far that this has happened to me. The fact that a hard power cycle clears the problem leads me to believe it's more likely to be an aging circuit board (6 years) as opposed to a faulty switch. It looks like the connector for the door close switch is a JST-HX connector. I was thinking I could rig up a small test harness to see if I could send a door closed signal, but the procedure you provided on how to test what the board is seeing is a better way to do it. I'm glad I came across your video. Thanks for sharing, Scott!

I had thunderstorms come through causing power to flicker on/off quickly...the next day my dishwasher was doing exactly what is in the video. So decided to try the easy fix first and turned off the circuit breaking feeding power to the dishwasher for 30 seconds. This seems to have cleared the problem, try this first before going for switch and/or circuit board.

Thanks so much for this video. It saved me from an incompetent tech, or perhaps a lying tech. I had a tech look at a RUNNING dishwasher due to dirty dishes. A dirty float valve was replaced which he said required the removal of the lower access panel. While there he plugged in a RJ45 device which allowed for washer monitoring via Bluetooth on his phone and the pushing of new system firmware to the control board. Something happened with no clear description from the tech and the washer started the 3-beep error. Tech assured me it was a malfunctioning control board that "just failed". Tech did not even mention the door lock mechanism you noted most commonly fails. I checked another video while he was onsite and asked about improper installation causing the door lock to fail and perhaps a shim above the lock would help. The tech immediately dismissed this and said it was a faulty control board. After he left, I found YOUR video and tried pushing on the harness connector which connects the door lock sensor to the control board. Breaker off before removing access panel and breaker back on after reattaching access panel. I pressed start on the washer and it worked like a champ. I really wonder if the connector was purposefully left not fully engaged. With the tech onsite I turned off the dishwasher breaker for over 30 minutes so I’m pretty sure the culprit was the harness was NOT fully engaged.
Is there a way to field test a control board to see if it has any faults? Also consider a series of videos highlighting how unscrupulous/incompetent techs can rip off clients. Another interesting series is maintenance tasks. I did not even know a drain filter existed in the dishwasher - homeowners should definitely read those manuals.

Some people are finding that the latch is too high and by placing shims above the switch fixes the issue. One test is to unscrew the switch, open the door, and manually place the latch on the door. If the dishwasher starts its an alignment issue and shims should fix it.

I actually changed the User Interface board, not the main board. for customers about 8 times last year due to surges, some to this 3-beep-error. I have yet to have a faulty latch be the case, although I read that that is the error however, for me, it has always come from a bad UI board. We get a lot of lightning surges down here in Florida that fry control boards of all types. The replacements generally have to be "personality programmed" using provided jumpers. One of the 8 UI boards lasted for about 4-5 months and then I got a call back that the three beeps came back. . This time I replaced the UI board and it didn't fix it, so it WAS likely the main board, but the customer wisely decided she'd had enough of GE. I have a peer that says the opposite, i.e. that he's only replaced the main board. He has them truck stock as he says there are usually only two kinds.

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel HI. I imagine if it's a good one, a surge protector like that would do the trick but I've been told of instances where they still failed. I tell every one of my clients to get whole house surge protection at the breaker box. it's about $350-$500 but it's a hardware solution that stops it from getting to the outlets. Also, I forget the reasoning but I also have heard many times that people should not put their appliances on GFI outlets, especially refrigerators. I get calls here and there that they pop the GFIs and when I tell them to move it to a standard outlet, they have no further problems.

Slightly lower model, had issue with 3 beeps wouldn't start. Also had issue where power would go away unless power was removed and replaced. In my case door switch seemed to check out okay. Other videos said replace the main board. I replaced all the electrolytic caps on the main board, that changed nothing. I replaced the 3 electrolytic caps on the control panel board and now the dishwasher seems to work fine. 3 weeks since replacing the capacitors. My friend used an ESR tester on the 3 capacitors that I replaced and said they seem to still check out fine but machine has been solid since.

I replaced the pressure sensor and still got three beeps and error code 364 0. Ordered a new motherboard and just installed it. I still get the same result, three beeps and error code 364 0. Any other suggestions?

@@aisha3243 So after changing the latch, and the two boards it was still beeping and not working. I decided to try something with the latch. I pushed a screw driver into the latch where the part from the door goes. Turned the dishwasher on and it started working. So the part on the door was not engaging the latch completely. Seems that the door had dropped just a tiny bit and was not engaging the latch. I raised the door very slightly and the latch engaged allowing the dishwasher to work properly. I know there is a correct way to raise the door, but I just added a small washer under the door bracket in order to raise it. I hope this helps.

      Yep,
Can you try adding some Permatex 22058 Dielectric Tune-Up Grease to each electrical connection that goes to the new power board?
Steam can get in and corrode those connections.
