I lost my brother to alcohol a year. I can't listen to this song without thinking of him and crying. Strangely. It bring me comfort to think of him in heaven. Lost way to soon at 56. Thank you. This is a beautiful version.
AB -- I'm a 76 year old white dude and I get such a kick out of you! Music will unite us. I cracked up when you said you didn't know the Righteous Brothers. Sometimes your expectations are a bit off, but I see you love music of any kind if it say something. Keep on doing what you're doing!
Vince Gill was writing this for his brother who had passed when Keith Whitley, a friend, and fellow Country artist died from complications from alcoholism. You ought to look for the video of Vince Gill, Patty Loveless, and Ricky Skaggs singing this. My mom had a very difficult life, and after she passed my stepfather showed his true colors and shut me out of all plans for her memorial service. A friend of my mom took this song request, and it was played. It will always be close in my heart, as my mom is.
@@davidhunt3689 Allison Krauss is amazing, and if I could be anyone else, it would be she. She is beautiful, a violin prodigy, and she sings like the angels. I listen to her and Union Station all the time. The band is awesome, and Jerry Douglas is a dobro god! I prefer Patti Loveless for this song, the three of them take it to Bluegrass, and it is a perfect trifecta of voices.
@@ronhunt9396 Thank you, I can't keep up with everything. Harri loves harmonies and the versions with Vince, and then when Vince sings with Alison Krauss and again with Ricky and Rhonda. Vince Gill on his own is a wonder; I was just having bluegrass on my mind. Anyway, thanks again.
My Mom passed not long after this song came out as well. She had the most beautiful soprano voice. 'Wish I could see the Angel's faces, when they hear your sweet voice sing.'. Gets me every time. 😭💔😭💔
They did this justice but vince gill has the voice of an angel when he sings it you have to give it a listen he wrote it fir kieth whitley and his brother that died
This is one of a few songs that I think the original was better not to take anything away from Home Free it's just no one can sing this song like Vince heck even Vince can't make it through half the time
Vince Gill originally wrote and sang this song when his brother passed away. George Jones requested that he sang it when he passed away.Home Free did a great job covering it.
Home Free is absolutely astoundingly phenomenal, and they did an incredible job with this song, but it’s nothing compared to hearing Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, & Patty Loveless hit that harmony. Chills every time- especially when Vince & Patty did it at George Jones funeral. Home Free does it justice though, I’m sure Vince is proud!
Rob sings like that warm hand, comforting your heart - Austin is razor sharp beauty that gets to your soul - Chance can be that soft flannel blanket that you wrap yourself in on a cool night. Tim’s hot deep rumble awakens your awareness and can take you from sadness to anger in a heartbeat, as Adam guides the flavor and the tempo of emotions.
I played the song at my brother's funeral and I tell you still this day it is one of the hardest songs to listen to. But the words to the song have so much heartfelt feeling that is why I chose it for the last thing my brother could here 🙏...
This song was played at my son's funeral. I was very specific about the song being performed by Home Free only. I have been a Home Fry for a long time and having their version of this song played at the funeral helped me make it through the service without losing my mind.
And another great cover of Home Free. They give it a Home Free twist, but keep the respect for the original. The voice of Rob with so much Soul and Gospel. A voice like velvet with so much emotion. And then that part of Tim where he sings Amazing Grace. The harmonies Just beautiful again
they came out with this not long after my brother, my only sibling, died. It hurt and helped to listen to it. He and I loved both songs, and I turned him into a big Home Free fan. It breaks my heart and lifts it up at the same time.
Wonderful reaction! Vince Gill's studio version was played at my little brother's funeral, I didn't listen to the song for almost 20 years, but when Home Free covered it, I listened and love it. I hope you will listen to Vince Gill sing it.
Everyone is encouraging you to listen to Vince Gill’s version and I agree, however before you do that I think you should listen to Keith Whitley I’m No Stranger To The Rain. Keith’s death was ruled as alcohol poisoning. He was the inspiration for the first verse of this song and Vince even says “You were no stranger to the rain” as a nod to Keith’s biggest hit. Hearing that song will make this one have an even greater impact on your emotions.
This songs hits me hard because it was played at my grandpas funeral and it was one of his favorite songs. I tell you that old man was my father, grandfather, and best friend I went with him everywheres and he wouldn’t go nowhere’s without me and since my father wasn’t there I’m glad he stepped up and taught me how to be the man that I am and I’m thankful for all the things he’s taught me and I also got his truck which Idek if I’ll be able to drive without thinking of him and I’m kinda mad cause I never got to drive with him in that truck before he passed so yeah this song rocks and is a awesome song but when I listen to it I think about him and all that it’ll be even better if you listened to the Vince gill one since he wrote the song
HF is special and Rob's voice is so amazing!! Great job on this reaction!! After watching most of your HF reactions, I decided to subscribe today. Great job! I'll see you on your next HF video.
This song always makes me emotional --and this video tells the military story so well. Another 🎯 on my ❤️ by our Home Free fellas. (And getting to hear Adam Rupp's sweet tenor singing is a real treat too❣️)
Same. I have always associated this song with funerals, so the tears always come. Home Free’s version, throwing in the military aspect (dad, uncles, grandpa, husband all military), it hits even harder. Home Free definitely did this song justice and Vince Gill should be very proud.
This song has special meaning to me. Like many of the others here, this song was played for my dad's funeral last October. I had been playing Home Free songs for my dad in the weeks before he died and he was enthralled by their harmonies. It's a beautiful song. Speaking of songs..HF just released a Garth Brooks cover. Ain't Going Down Til The Sun Comes Up. It was released on Facebook. Wouldn't it be cool if you reacted to both versions?😉😁😇
I can't can't imagine having a voice like these men. The first note is flawless and until the last, It never ceases to amaze me. As they say, I can't carry a tune in a bucket
The first time I heard this song was on the way to my cousins funeral after an accidental overdose. Really puts a lot into perspective. Home Free really does put so much heart into their songs
This was one of the few songs my sister would sing with me, she never liked singing as much as I always did, but of those songs that she would harmonize with me on, this was her FAVORITE ... now I have to just sing this for her and hope she hears me, trying to think maybe she is still singing with me on it, but I just can't hear her here anymore. She was my life long best friend, we were basically twins just with a 2yr age gap. I need her everyday, it's paralyzing.
What a beautiful memory 💗 Every time it hurts is a little prayer that everyone will have someone so dear to them in their life. My younger (I almost said little, lol, and she would frown at that) sister is so dear to me as well. We have been blessed to have them. I hope the pain eases for you soon and leaves only the joy and warmth.
@@cindyknudson2715 thank you. She was my "big" (older but smaller) sister. She got us beaded keychains years ago that spelled out "BIG🤍SIS" & "LIL🤍SIS" ... I couldn't find hers in the items we got got back from her husband (which wasn't nearly all of her things & a whole different drama series that I don't care for) ... but I still have mine & carry it w/me on my bag daily. It's been 6yrs, 2 grief counseling classes, several bouts of DEEP & a constant case of General depression & LOTS of therapy to get to a point where I don't cry EVERYDAY. I know I'll never be ok, but just hope that someday I'll be better, I'll feel stronger & figure out how to not feel so damn lost.
@@denaturner8871 Maybe the keychain reminds him of her since she always carried hers too. 🙂 Let the warmth of all those happy memories wrap you in a hug. Maybe talk to Jesus about her. Reminisce with Him. Share your joy in having had her in your life with someone, Jesus, who loves you both. {Hugs}

This song was on the radio in the taxi the day I was on my way to the airport to go home for the funeral after my Dad passed. It goes straight to the core.
Yes, it’s so good but 🍊so sad. Love the video and loved Tim inserting Amazing Grace in the middle of it. So well done by HF again. Pure orange juice AB!

All of the guys in Home Free (except Rob) say that Rob is the best singer in the group. Another testament as to how humble and genuine our boys are. ❤
Vince Gill wrote this song, you should hear him sing it at George Jones funeral, if you don't get a tear your not human, HF did it justice 👏
I was just thinking the same thing! He should watch it for sure!
Oh word!????? Ok thank you 🙏🏾
@@ABtheKreator Yes please! It’s an amazing video to watch. I won’t lie, it’s very intense
I agree. Have your tissues ready.
Ditto on George's funeral and indeed they did it justice.
This is the only song they do that I can’t listen to very often. It hits me in the feels and makes me cry every time.
You should hear Vince Gill and Patti Lovelace, the originals. It’s beautiful. Home Free does a lovely job!
