It's a powerful song, presented well and respectfully, and it does what it's intended to do, bring back to us memories of lost friends and family, allowing us to honor their memories. I just heard this song and yes, I'm crying too. I lost my daddy to cancer three years ago and I miss him so much. I'm crying with you. He was a veteran and likely got something that led to cancer when he was in Desert Storm. He was a good man, a good daddy and I'll forever miss him.
It is different when you know... losing a friend when deployed with you will change you... don't ever forget to cry... took me 5 years to ever cry again, but it was music like this that broke me. hugs to all that extended out there ooh-rah and much love from the USMC for all branches.
This song always gets me and brings out both sadness and joy. My grandfather died of Parkinson's almost 2 years ago. He was very involved in my childhood and my closest grandparent. Unfortunately he was the glue that held our family together and after he got sick everything came crashing down. Let me tell you that I wouldn't wish that disease(or any other with dementia) on anyone. I had to watch him die mentally before he died physically. I prayed for months that God would just take him to end his suffering. God finally took him home 5 months after he forgot who I was.
There is no shame in tears. This song just reaches in and touches that empty spot left by a loved one. For me it is from losing my son. I pray God gives you comfort and peace from the shedding of your tears.

It's so hard. Laid my father to rest last year. WWII, U.S. Navy. Buried his younger brother 5 months before that, Korean War, U.S Army.
