      @@EnTitledTown hi Caesar! That is a very general question and calls for my more universal video series and I have 2 options for you: see “swing builder series with Chantal shawn clement” which is an awesome series I did for a novice student of mine who is also my Yoga coach (me being a novice there too) and or head to our premium channel at www.wisdomingolfpremium.com and see our “beginner series” or our “wisdom 1.0 series” or even our “senior series” which all start with our wisdom fundamentals based on simple tasks.

    It amazes me how cupped your left wrist is, and how across the line you are at the top, but STILL flush every shot you hit. Just goes to show... A person can make ANYTHING work, if they stay focused on the task. I'm not criticizing you at all Shawn. It's actually VERY inspiring, and proves that "positions" aren't the most important thing. I love your content. It's a breath of fresh air.

    I move toward the target first (press) and then back, as you have shown in previous videos. I find it helps keep my arms and wrists loose. Just shot -2 (gross) finishing with four birdies. Two years ago I played off 14! I'm 53, so there's hope for everyone out there, if they follow your lead and practice regularly.

  • @beimsteiner

    Gave this a quick try and amazingly was able to hit the ball. I've been doing some stops at the top of the backswing to make sure I have a good plane, but that's not something I would do in play. But I will try this out as I have a couple tendencies this might help me with. My backswing can be too long and I have a hard time bringing it all back, and I can sometimes get unbalanced or stand up a bit too much on the top of the backswing. Just in some brief tests, I was able to make good contact and not feel unbalanced, instead making sure my stance doesn't move offline. More downswing, less backswing, which for me is a good ratio,

    Shawn, you mention you’re a happy Callaway family, do you think these techniques work as well with other clubs? I’m just about to purchase Cobra irons. Also, I’ve got offset driver and hybrid, how does set up change if you have offset clubs? Bought to fix my slice but I’m hoping your instruction will reduce that! Thanks , loving your work 👍🏼

    Moe Norman comes to mind here, he used to start a foot or so behind and always said, "it gave him the advantage of being 1/4 way into his back swing already"! I see a lot of similarities in what you teach and what Moe did in his swings....

  • @mslu62

    Taking the club too far inside was one of my demons. I found that it was directly related to a flat shoulder turn. If the lead shoulder works in a more downward manner off the ball the club stays on plane better. It also increases shoulder tilt and keeps the club more in front of the body as opposed to getting deep and wrapped around the body. If you ever studied Hogans swing he does this wonderfully. Mr. Hogan had a flat arm swing but once the club reached parallel in the backswing he stood that shaft up very abruptly. Wow what a beautiful swing. Mr Hogan dedicated a large part of his book on the waggle. He felt it was that important. Although it was very different from Mr. Weirs waggle. Mike's waggle was more of an arm waggle whereas Mr. Hogans was almost entirely a wrist waggle. Great video. Grand babys here got to run.
    Thank yinz

    A old school pga instructor told me swing sequence is hips first, body and arms. This helps the hips wind up nicely
    But modern instruction advocates up[er body initiates takeaway and arms and then hips. This has a tendency to freeze the hips and for amateurs like me causes early extension

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Please give me list of these instructors? Because modern teaching is changing quite a bit more these days! The human kinetic chain is not wired with any of the above you mention (which have and are still unfortunately taught)
      See “sledge hammer axe drill shawn clement” as an example of how the human machine uses the ground IN BOTH DIRECTIONS to gather a backswing and deliver an action THROUGH something TOWARDS somewhere.

See “best way to shift weight in the swing-take a walk-shawn clement” and “grass whip training shawn clement” where we walk and cut nice tidy rows of grass-in both directions! Simple question. JT is a great player, no doubt. However, he does go a couple/few of holes where he can spray it on those couple/few holes in a row. What is he doing different during those bad holes?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Classic example on the 2nd shot of the zozo at Sherwood CC on hole #16 par 5; he said “I did not want to miss left” just before he swung...happens to the best of them!! All he needs to do is spend an afternoon with me and his Dad so I can show them what to focus on and what to ignore on a neurological standpoint to show them how the machine is wired so they can keep him focused on what he wants instead of what he wants to avoid.

      Hello Shawn
      I just think that of all the fantastic videos you’ve done this one seems to go against the principle of not being position orientated.
      You say yourself in the video that it creates a potential for drawing the mind away from the target and the eyes to follow the club.
      It’s in no way a criticism(how could I as at my level) but it does feel a bit conflicted with all of your other material. Which I love, have benefited hugely from and will continue to follow. Thank you for taking the time to respond anyway.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nttrumpet interesting that you say that; no positions here, just a takeaway that allows the golfers to confirm that he or she is on track for the direction of the task; which is really important as this leads to being centred in the swing. The head staying centred comes from the awareness that the swing is staying with the target!
