    Just did some short throws in the backyard Shawn. First few went to the left and here's where i got confused. In order for me to throw it straight I feel like i have to start the throw super early. Almost like i would start my desired throw and direction about 1/4 of the way down into my downswing.. In relation the the golf swing it would require me to give up control of trying to put the clubface on the ball. In my mind I always thought we were supposed to hold that angle and lag till the last second with a bent right wrist and this feels like I'm letting it go. Cant wait to try this at the course, it feels like i would NOW be hitting through the ball if that all makes sense.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are definitely mis interpreting the throw!! If you throw left it means the club has passed the hands at the bottom and then you are releasing the club as it is being sucked behind you. See “throw the club straight shawn clement”

    This is how I putt now. Ball at my lead foot, cackhanded, focused on the actual target line directly, feels like a golf swing, and that target focus and setup results in super confidence, square clubface, and an incredible reduction in putts per round.
    Sure wish I could get to that place with my iron swing. But I only recently got to that place in putting, and I can see what a huge paradigm shift it is compared to staring at the ball.
    Then again, the putting change was brought about by a change in setup, and that allowed the mind/body to shift focus to the target/path.
    So I know the key is there somewhere, just haven't quite found the right combination yet. Will do the ball to club throwing and see what shakes loose LoL

      Hi Aimee! This is called “comfort level” based on what your perception is on your current skill level. When someone tells me they broke 80 for the first time, it is because they woke up when there were no more holes to play. If you start thinking about “protecting” your score, you start telling your mind to be careful and the flow is gone and your performance goes out with it. The cliché of “one shot at a time” is something you want to cultivate and live.

    What a great video again! One quick question for you. I was throwing the club out there beautifully, however, when I took a video of throwing the clubs with no ball, I noticed my club face was very open 'through impact'. It was squared up a foot or so past the ball, however, if I hit it like that, it would obviously be way left. I have a tendency to over rotate my left (right handed golfer) forearm pretty early in my backswing...however, I try not to think about it and instead just go with this idea of heavy momentum/throwing the club/sending the ball to the target. When I am 'on', I can shoot in the 70s, however, on off days (when my timing just isn't there), I am definitely delivering the club a little open, or a little closed from swing to swing. If I look at these slow mo swings you have of Sav in here, she really seems to keep the club face square throughout the back swing. Is she doing that intentionally? Or just a product of the grip?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the grip-club relationship that is DYNAMICALLY CLOSED ENOUGH to deliver a square face WHEN YOU THROW WITH EASE AND ABANDON in the direction you want the ball to start on. If she just throws the club, the point where you see your club face very open would be significantly less open on hers.

    • @harkov47
      @harkov47 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@golflessons - I will need to think about your comment here about the club face a bit more here. That being said, it is pretty amazing how easy it is when you simply throw the club with the purpose of throwing at a target. Your body just seems to figure it out. I remember playing with someone once who was driving the ball exceptionally well. I wasn't that day. At some point, he said, you know the difference between you and me? I don't care where the ball goes, and you do. Like in my other comment, when the arms start getting tight, and I subconsciously start trying to 'direct' the ball to where I want it to go (with my hands), nothing good happens. Setting up with the intention of really launching that ball with some heavy momentum, and trusting that if I direct that to where the ball needs to go...is the piece I really keep trying to work on at the range.
