In the video he had that solid red strat, no pickguard and a single humbucker in the bridge position. I was like “whoa! Who the hell is this dude?”
I’ve always said that Sammy is the hardest-working artist in the Industry and he’s been relevant for 5 going on 6 decades. What a freakin’ career!
Sammy is one of the most kindest and caring human beings on this planet he really loves his fans

Sammy. You’ve had a major impact on my life. I went to a show in Evansville, Indiana last minute and just me. It was your VOA tour with Krokus and Twisted Sister. The show was great. But I had nothing to do afterwards and wanted to avoid the traffic so I just hung out in the arena after the encores and was watching the crew tear down the set. Then you came out, (wearing jeans) along with your band. There were maybe 30-40 people like me that just stuck around. You yelled “what do you guys want to hear?” And you played Rock And Roll, Rock Candy, Bad Motor Scooter and a few other songs. No stage lighting or anything, just a band jamming for the fans.
That had a profound impact on me. You could have been back stage partying or chilling on your bus, but you came out and made many of your fans very happy. That’s something that stuck with me. You gave me a perspective of what my work ethic was going to be for the rest of my life. I work when I don’t have to. I go the extra mile for my customers always. I wish that I could tell you this in person and I don’t know if you will even read this but, thank you.

I often wondered about that title myself. It's nice to see Sammy taking the time to talk & sign autographs for a special fan. Some people don't realize or care they are who got you where you are today. Sammy seems like a very down to earth person giving his time & money to those in need. I've always loved Sammy's music through the years but what makes it extra sweet is his true down-to-earth persona and caring nature to mankind and fans alike. Sammy reminds me of great engineers and teachers. They don't have to tell you they are great, you can just tell. When people like this interact with you, they just treat you like a normal person and act like a normal person themselves. Nothing to prove.

Meeting Sammy was one of the great moments in life for me.
What a great story. I would like to add that I was at that Portland show. The Catch A Rising Star thing was not just Sammy but also The Babys, Dickie Betts solo band, The Outlaws, 38. Special, and Angel City. I saw all those shows, for a buck, and have all those ticket stubs that are a part of my collection. By the way Sammy that show was on January 21 1978. I have gotten so much joy from the music all these years.🤘

This story is quite familiar for different reasons. In the 80’s I had a friend who was a drummer in a local band. Two of the guitar players were Big John and Little John. We went to many concerts together, one being Sammy’s. After the concert, my friends got to go back stage and meet Sammy. The lead guitarist was in heaven. They ended up opening for The Outlaws one night. It’d be funny if it was the same Big John. Best wishes to you sir.
How nice of you sir. Bet you won't catch Bruce Springsteen doing that! My best friend that passed away couple of years ago saw Bruce 110 times! Went to Barcelona Spain and everything! Now Bruce is charging astronomical sums of money for his shows! That's appreciating your fans huh? Class act Mr. Hagar!
