That beginning made you think the worst things from the brother and the childhood friend, but the story then develops little by little. Pretty nice and lovely ending.
Nah that beginning made me hate the MC at first. He knew they liked each other but stole her anyway. Then the whole story came to light, and I was like, oh okay.

It's really nice that Kanato helped out his brother Keita and Rumi get together and that he ended up taking his place to marry Chikage and even though it was an arranged marriage it's suite at the end of the falling in love in the end. 🥰

I think you really misunderstood something here. The MC and the childhood friend were never actually together, they just pretended so that the brother could spend time with her without raising suspicion. The only real victim here is the brother's ex-fiancée, although she ended up getting together with Mc.

It doesn't make it okay that its a gift for her. He leaves her alone and only reason they talk that day is because she happens to meet them while she's wandering around in pain because he ignored their anniversary. If I asked a partner if she was free to go shopping and she told me that she's too busy, then I run into her shopping with someone else I would be hurt and furious, I would not accept any gift they bought that day.

so about that,MMC was gatekeeping it for his brother,it was more of a deal,for Rumi and MMC older brother to still see each other and experience for MMC. So MMC acted more as a holder than gatekeeping it.
Kinda how I feel about this story. The MMC could've helped his brother out in a better way than dating and gatekeeping the girl his brother loved. I just don't like the way MMC comes off as a victim when it's obviously the brother who was since he's forced to that marriage. Other than that I guess everything went well after that point.
