  • We caught up with Trey Murdaugh of TL Sport North America to get the details on the new TL Sparker. This sleek retractable-gear, two-seat Experimental can use any of several Rotax engines, from the 100-hp 912 ULS to the 160-hp turbocharged 916 iS. Speed is a claimed 170 knots (200 mph). Prices start at $327,000 with a non-turbo Rotax. The turbo option starts at $380K.

    The first plane I owned (in a partnership) was a TL StingSport (over a decade ago)... nice little airplane for what it was. Glad to see they have this out. I'm just wrapping my SlingTsi build these days...

    Neat, not many if any fast two seaters have the luggage space to actually want to go somewhere

    Looks nice except for the price. You can get a fully decked out RV10 or Sling TSI through a build center which are both great airplanes for that price and have 4 seats which is way more practical.

    Thats over 3 times as much as I paid for my Sting S4 …. Way too much for what it is but for people who have more money they can spend, it does not matter so my guess is they will find a dozen or so customers per year across the world in this category of buyers. After Sting S4 , it is going to be EAB for me at half of this price …

    Why not get a j model mooney? Less than half the price of what this is, but with more speed, aluminum, lots of parts availability, more useful load, more panel, IFR, and a lot more mechanics who work on them.

    If this MOSAIC law comes into to play, aviation will change for the better. I'm excited for new airplanes like this. Commenters complain about the price, but they don't realize that this costs a whole lot less than the certified models and the cost to maintain it will be a lot less. I think this area will become more and more competitive as time goes on and we will all win!. Very exciting!!!

  • @aeromatt
    @aeromatt 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Are these the factory built certified mosaic prices? No one can afford these prices, and anyone that could would not care about fuel burn. We are clearly not the target audience for this. What is the price for a kit built sparker EXPERIMENTAL

    Awesome airplane, terrible cargo area and capacity, terrible price. Doesn’t look so awesome.

    • @TSLApilot
      @TSLApilot 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What’s terrible about the cargo area? It’s much larger than many similar sized planes.

    • @Captndarty
      @Captndarty 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TSLApilot only holds 50 pounds and you can’t put golf club’s, skis or a bike back there size wise. My similar sized plane hold 180lbs and can squeeze in a bike and maybe golf clubs.

    • @TSLApilot
      @TSLApilot 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m guessing this plane is smaller than yours. It’s about the same length as a Cessna 152. …and even a much bigger Cirrus SR20 can only have 130 lbs max in the cargo area.
      For these LSA sized planes, this has one of the larger storage capacities (volume and weight). Larger or similar to the VL3, Tecnam p2008, Bristell, Elixer Aircraft, DA20.
      Do you know of a modern 2 seater that can carrying more than 100 lbs in the cargo area?

    • @Captndarty
      @Captndarty 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TSLApilot the Rans s 21 can. This plane has a massively wide cockpit with incredible speeds running the exact same motor as mine. In comparison its wingspan is 1 foot wider with a 1 foot shorter fuselage the cargo volume is identical to mine at 24 ft.³ yet you can hardly carry anything worthwhile for a trip. 50 pounds to my 180 pounds. This is a 400K traveling plane. People want to bring and do things when they arrive other than renting equipment.

      @@Captndartythanks. I’ll have to take a closer look at the Rans. I thought it was a low and slow STOL plane, but goes faster than I thought.
