He Was Better Than Pogacar 4 Yrs Ago. What Happened?

  • Marc Hirschi was priceless in 2020. He was more highly rated than Tadej Pogacar himself for classics and one-day races and his price was above that of Remco Evenepoel or Jonas Vingegaard. However, 4 years later he only wins on stages far from WorldTour cycling and was even accused of doping by his former team, what has happened to Marc Hirschi?

    Obviously, we mean that Hirschi was better than Pogacar in 2020 in one-day classics, where Pogi still had no monuments or medals in world championships, and Hirschi had already won a Fleche Wallone and a bronze medal in the world championships, as well as having beaten him in the U-23 world championships.

      @@cyclinghighlights Absence of evidence doesn't necessarily mean evidence of wrongdoing. I just don't believe that after all the doping scandals prior to his career he could get away with not giving samples that would prove your theory. Sure you can make a conspiracy theory out of clickbaity titles, hell I'm watching this, but having watched a few videos that basically claim everybody is doping from Pog to anyone Danish to Froome and anyone in between but apart from this one suspicious and association with certain doctors or who just shouldn't be allowed near any professional sportsperson ever again on a professional basis I need more than this. I think Hirshe just isn't reliable, money could and should be spent elsewhere. From his point of view who knows what is going on but he's just not seen as good enough to support a Grand Tour winner anymore.

    • @cyclinghighlights
      @cyclinghighlights  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well, Froome was investigated by USADA, Nick Harris is connecting him with some strange ppl and he was positive for salbutamol.

    • @mattpotter8725
      @mattpotter8725 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cyclinghighlights There are a lot of cyclists who have been investigated and even ones that have been found guilty, mostly at lower levels of the sort, that seem to have found their way up to higher levels. I'm sure that some doping is going on, but at the levels you suggest and without evidence? I don't see the evidence, though you don't seem to be here for that, just to point out conspiracies.
      As for Froome, from what I remember he was using something that I think both of us would consider performance enhancing, but it was for an asthmatic condition, which baffles me as to if that was the case why is he even allowed or able to be a pro cyclist, but it wasn't against the rules.
      I recently listened to a podcast with former pro cyclist Alex Dorset on it where he described the testing regime, and for Pog they came on the day they'd given at 8am, but returned for a further test later that same day, so testing is much stricter and much harder to evade than when the doping scandals were prevalent.
      Now does this mean doping is going on or that it's not possible to get around being tested positive, sure, the dopers will always try and create drugs that don't get, or are very difficult to detect, but your stance is that everyone is under suspicion without offering and concrete evidence.
      Technological improvements in training and especially recovery have occurred as the sport I think has had massive investment at the top teams. Should riders be under suspicion all the time, yes, but they should be presumed innocent until found guilty or what is the point of even having any cycling events?
      You don't seem to be offering any solutions here, apart from maybe banning certain doctors and back room staff that were involved in previous incidents at lower levels of the sport. Maybe these people should be banned but in the end there will always be people to replace them so you need to fix the testing regime and make the tests more advanced and not just ban people (until they've been found guilty).
