    Your work is beautiful and your explanation is wonderful. I am newer into making rings. Would you possibly provide guidance on suggested wire and weave lengths for common American ring sizes? That part is still challenging for me to gauge.

    • @ellieshandcrafted
      @ellieshandcrafted  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So happy to hear it! I don't really have a set length for weaves. Normally, I'll take a scrap piece of wire and wrap it around the ring mandrel at the desired size, then I cut the excess wire and use that length for the weave. I normally don't use a set number because it really depends on the style of ring you're making and the size of the cabochon. For example, let's say your cabochon is 8mm. You'll take the length of wire you measured from the mandrel and then subtract about 6-8mm for the weave. You can also check your work before cutting off your weaving wire and wrap the weave around the mandrel at the desired size and then set you cabochon on top of the band. If there's room between each end of the weave for the cabochon, you're golden. If there's too much room, you may need to weave a little more. Hope that helps?

    My ring absolutely does not look like yours but I tried lol.
    My huge issue is that I'm a necklace/earring/bead bracelet maker so I don't really have any cabochons to work with so I'll just have to remember to use Way more wire so I can cover more of my round stones.
    Mine is wearable but not oxidized yet and if I don't do that, I get a pretty green ring around my finger lol
    Thanks a lot! I really like these rings but it may just be a little harder than I'm quite ready for 😁

    • @ellieshandcrafted
      @ellieshandcrafted  ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the ring tutorial. Cabochon rings are my challenge. Just a note: if you keep tools in the camera view your camera can’t focus on the ring or project. It’s focused on whatever is behind your hands.

    My wires keep being difficult to wrap maybe I’m using too thick?

    • @ellieshandcrafted
      @ellieshandcrafted  ปีที่แล้ว

      I suppose it depends on what wires you are using. I typically use a thinner gauge for weaving like 28 or 30 gauge. What gauges are you using?

    Could you use a bead instead of a small cab?

    • @ellieshandcrafted
      @ellieshandcrafted  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You could, but you want to make sure that you compensate for the size of the ring, since the bead will protrude underneath. Hope that helps! ☺️

    • @ellieshandcrafted
      @ellieshandcrafted  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You probably could, but you'll want to make sure you account the added depth of the bead as it will probably affect the ring size. Let me know if you have any more questions. :)

    • @ellieshandcrafted
