    I think that a lot of people (me included) would really like a track length, intro and outro tutorial

    • @NickGalemore
      @NickGalemore 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      take a track you like - put it in your DAW and copy the arrangement. Most arrangments are surprisingly simple and similair. Do this a few times and it will become second nature.

    • @johnymst
      @johnymst 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, how to arrange a track from scratch and how to group the different sections along the timeline (counting bars etc). I used the method mentioned above before but a tutorial on proper way would be amazing

    • @arjanpetersen
      @arjanpetersen 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@johnymst there is no proper way. Usually it is 168 bars long or so. Just copy a few of your favorite songs. Make a midi track above it and color different sections of the song.

    I think what I like the most about your tutorials is that I'll watch someone else do the same thing and they'll scroll through their list of expensive (pirated) VSTs to find the right effect...
    But here you are just doing it with stock Ableton and it makes it so much clearer what those VSTs even do in the first place and why you might just not need them.
    And how I can apply all of this to any style of music.

    new Black Box M/S has mid side controls on it's own and allows to widen the stereo field without effecting the mid signal. It's absolutely incredible, and I don't mind that it doesn't have make up gain on it....I know you said that was annoying, but makeups are not always the best function, as IMO, it's better to dial in those sounds, but PA knocked it out of the park with the new Black Box 2.

  • @drydessert4198

    When referencing the kick drum the way you are suggesting, one should be aware that sometimes producers change the kick drum at some point in the track. That can be another layer added, perhaps a change in volume (automation) or an entirely different kick drum sample.

    • @Alice-Efe

  • @andreasforsberg7163

    I don’t really get why you bring down the ref track by 3dB, aren’t you bringing down the kick as well by another 3dB? Also, the limiter that you put on your track, why add another 3dB to it? Is that number related to the earlier volume of your kick? Super great tutorial btw, always learn a lot!

    • @Alice-Efe
      @Alice-Efe  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is basically trying to get your track to the same loudness and dynamic range of the reference track. Different ways to do it but this way is quite straight forward. 1. Level the kick drums at the same peak, 2. Further decrease reference track -3db to negate the limiting.
