Man, this was helpful. I didn't even jack the motor up worked around the loose waterpump, and I pulled it out and installed the same way, still a.knuckle buster though thanks for the video. Saved my brother and law a few thousand for this simple job
Thank you! Glad it helped.
Loosen the pulley bolts before taking the belt off.
First, Thank you brother for showing this. It is great video. Hopefully this comment will be useful to some. While I was working, I notice that I am not able to jack up engine much, but I was able to do it after remove 17mm bolt from Front (radiator side) Mount using 17mm flex and Few long Extensions. fyi, if you follow his method, job will be a lot more fun, otherwise it will be pain in the rear end..lol
Thank you, this was causing me so much trouble
Was able to do it on a 2010 without removing crank pulley bolt. Also can go back one step and do a single 12 instead of 2 e torx studs... Bracket comes right off. Otherwise a great video it is much appreciated!🎉🎉🎉
Great video! Thank you!
Glad I found your video because I'm about to tackle one just like Like this.
I'm paying a considerable amount to have the water pump on my 2008 RX 350 replaced, and this excellent video helps me understand the reason it's so expensive.
The detailed knowledge and mechanical expertise you demonstrate is outstanding, along with the detailed explanation. Exceptionally well done, much respect to you.
Thank you! That means a lot to us!
how much did you pay??
Car Care Nut has a vid on the bleeding procedure for the 2GR. It's a bit involved.
I watched this before I did this last night, it's helpful but you don't need to take off the front balancer pulley, or need to take off the bottom motor mount and tilt the engine. Make sure you watch the coolant bleeding system
I can say firsthand I just did this job. They’re definitely needs to be RTV sealant put on the thread bolts as mine are leaking.
Grate, video thank you it is well splinted
Good info
I will be happy to hire you to install my water pump. I have 2010 RX 350.
How did you connect the vacuum pump?
How many liters of fluid did you use after replacing the pump?
Change the idler x2 and tensioner. They also go bad. I didn’t do the tensioner regret it lol
What is the position of the thermostat?
Did you just take off the lower 19-lug nut to jack up the engine? Was there any other engine mount you had to loosen up?
If memory serves, front wheel drive there is nothing else. All wheel drive has another mount that has 2 17mm bolts on a mount that is on the back of the engine to the frame.
@@automotiveinsight Two 14mm nuts on my 2007 RX350
wat hapens if u dont bleed the system? will u lose coolant all the time? my radiator does not wana stay topped up. everytime after work i hav to put sum in. its not alot its like half of half a cup. but its stl freakin annoying
Would it make sense to replace the thermostat at the same time?
You could since you're right there. They really don't give too many problems so if you're going to do it, I would put an OEM one in it. I've replaced many more aftermarket thermostats than OEM ones on Toyota/Lexus.
Where did you jack up the engine from after engine mount off ? I did the oil pan and there's not enough space to clear the bolt for the top bracket to be remove
Oil pan. If you’re talking about the upper mount, those bolts will come out without a Jack. If you’re talking about the lower mount, if it’s all wheel drive, there is another mount towards the back of the engine that will need to be loosened.
@@automotiveinsight yes AWD, where in the back of the engine where I need to remove ?
@@michaelchu802 bottom. Pretty much in line with the rf cv axle. It should have two bolts you can remove from the side or 2 nuts you can remove from the bottom. Doing it’ll the nuts from the bottom make it easier to line back up.
@automotiveinsight thank you. Finally done with the job
@@michaelchu802 great news. Congratulations!
Did you have to really remove the crank pulley to get the waterpump out ?
I don’t think the bottom water pump bolt will come out if you don’t remove the crank pulley.
Looks like the lowest water pump bolt has room to come out just fine. Doing this right now so will comment back if this step can be skipped. @@automotiveinsight
@@mattapoisettmobil1981 did you ever try this?
This looks like a mess to replace!
Go to car care nut. Get the updated newer water pump shows removal install
good verbal info on things to be careful of, but the camera work tended to go super speed or just plain skip the stuff
We appreciate the feedback. We’re still learning how to make videos.
How can I contact you?
Holy f***. That's a ridiculous amount of work needed to swap a water pump. What was Lexus/Toyota thinking?
When those engines came out originally (05ish) the repair manual procedure was to drop the engine, transmission, and cradle. Labor time was like 14 hours.
@@automotiveinsight dang.
My thoughts exactly. Damn!
BMW straight 6. Easy , even V8 much easier than this transverse arrangement
@@edkalsbeek1765 Yeah, but with a BMW, you'll be doing it much sooner, at around 90K miles.
What the hell is a "burp bucket"? That little tid bit might help... I am NOT looking forward to this repair.

@@automotiveinsight wow! Thanks!
You cut out some very key details. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻 who ever edited this video did a terrible job.
