CoC is from is from North Carolina which is a Southern state. They were initially a punk band that crossed over to thrash, and then created the sound they are famous for - which is Southern Metal/Rock. You can clearly hear 70’s Southern Rock & Blues in Pepper’s voice, and certainly the blues riffs. He brings a similar sound to the band DOWN w/ Philip Anselmo who’s from NOLA.
They’re essentially a heavier Lynyrd Skynyrd who were heavily inspired by the blues as were most of the bands during the English invasion of the 60’s. The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin worshiped guys like Howlin’ Wolf, Buddy Guy, and Robert Johnson whom allegedly sold his soul to the devil.

I remember seeing him on the "Wiseblood" tour and he was obviously playing drunk. However, this does not take away from his many talents. Nor diminishes COC' s glorious catalog. They have played with different drummers in the past I just think Reed has left huge shoes to fill.

I'm only 19 and my father showed me this band when I was 11. So, 2008 if I recall correctly. I instantly fell in love with their sound. I'll never forget, the whole summer of 2008 I was blasting the whole Deliverance album in my CD walkman. That album moved me beyond measures man and still does til this day. I have so much respect and admiration for this band. And as a kid listening to Corrosion, I wasn't entirely sure what the message was of this song, but after almost a decade of listening to it, I began to interpret the song and realized that I'm an Albatross. Much love from this fan here.

Trevor Barksdale :that's awesome when I hear the younger generation digs this music,I was 22-23 when this came out & I'll tell you there were so many kick ass albums coming out every week ...it was insane....in my opinion the best rock album to come out in the early 90's is Badmotorfinger by Soundgarden...if you indulge in mind altering substances & put that record on & listen to it thru headphones from beginning to end with no distractions it will change your outlook on rock & more importantly it will shatter every notion of what a singer is capable of because I have yet to hear a vocal performance from anyone in any genre that can touch Chris Cornell's performance on that record...just listen to the last minute of Searching With My Good Eye Closed & you'll see what I mean

    Well, I'm feelin' left behind
Lord, what a waste of time?
They're gonna get you, run on
How can I respect your crime?
    When all you criminals whine
They bought and sold you, run on, run on, yeah
Well, you can call me crazy
You can call me wrong, 'cause
See I was born a liar, albatross
    Fly on, fly on
My home is kind, man it pays to be blind
Well, I promise to forget you, run on, yeah
No swallowed pride, no conspiracy lie
Oh, broken promise of virtue, run on, Lord, run on
Well, you can call me lazy
But I know where I belong, 'cause
'Cause I was born a liar, albatross
Fly on, fly on with your trust in love
From your God above, ha, ha
Ooh , I believe the albatross
Well, you can call me crazy
You can call me wrong, wrong
'Cause I was born a liar, albatross
    Fly on, fly on
I should have seen the signs
    Now the memories far behind
It was no big loss, fly on albatross, yeah
Fly on, fly on albatross, yeah
    Fly on, fly on! \m/
