Thank you. There could be improvements made on them. I didn't want the kids slipping in there when wet, but I think a couple of them did end up coming wrinkling at the edges or coming off, but most are still good and def did their job for the last season. They are cheap enough. Maybe some kind of glue seal around the edges to keep water from getting it could be an improvement
I have a very similar setup on an Old Town 14' canoe. With the exception of the battery and trolling motor size, our setup are identical. I also added is some DIY stabilizers. I use this setup for trolling some of the smaller lakes in my area and it has been fun.
Awesome! So the battery is only 55ah and doesn't take up that whole case so we may have the same size. It was @$130 so should be okay for a day of light trolling. I want to make stabilizers also! Saw a few videos about making them with the crab floats. How did you do yours?
@@DeMarcheAdventures i actually run 35mAh battery and i usually get about 3-4 trolling at speed 1 and 2. I also use a fish finder so i can see water depth and to watch my battery voltage. As for the stabilizers, i used an idea i found here on TH-cam with some PVC pipe. if i remember correctly, i used 4" pipe on the end and 2" pipe to make the connectors. there are a several videos. You have the motor mounted backwards . When trolling wrap a small paracord or rope around the tilt lock and shaft to hold it against the shaft and put a half hitch on it, it’s just wise it the case you might hit something your motor will kick up instead of breaking off or damaging something , it Also has locking positions to adjust the motor depth by tilting it up ward vs sliding the shaft up or down ,to be used only if ya get in a bind and run up on a sandbar or reef ,looking good , great job !

I think Amazon "canoe seats". I however needed to buy the extension straps to make them longer as the seats are thick plastic. If you have the normal flat canoe seats, you won't need the extensions. I also am going to put a bar or something behind mine as id like some more support to lean back.
Go on Minn Kota website you can see what gauge wire to use I extended mine only 10ft and then you have to have a 60 amp breaker get a good one and actual switch not a cheap rinky-dink breaker mount it on the battery box

The dc14 comes with the sitbacker seats and I had to purchase separately. That is the only difference I see. The seats and extra lengthening straps did cost about 90 more so I'd say it's the same canoe now with the seats added.

@@GRANTKEEL I read some negative and positive reviews on stability. I have not used it yet with the motor, seats, battery but I'm itching to get out! I will certainly do a video the first time out and let you know. I'm hoping that as long as the 8 year old doesn't go crazy up front that we will get a good feel of the canoe together and keep it pretty steady. With time, I think even tippy canoes are like bikes and you naturally learn balance. I say this now with fingers crossed that my gear won't be in the bottom of a lake.
This is a VERY popular model of canoe, it must be made in one factory in China then sold to different retailers, because many companies sell the identical boat with identical seats and identical bow and stern handles, price depends on which stickers are on it...
In ny yes unfortunately. And they want a lot of documentation. The receipt which I had bass pro print me a new one years later was not good enough. They wanted the slip that came with the canoe. Had to get one from the manufacturer. Was the worst most annoying process ever. I get it for gas motors but come on. Took over a month for approval.

They said if I bought it from someone else who already paid taxes on it, that I would also need to prove I paid taxes on it as well. The rule was def made for large boats which would have very high taxes... But still enforce it for a $300 canoe
I don't believe so. The canoe is perfectly symmetrical and it is my 1st canoe, i've just had kayaks before. The only thing telling me what is front/back is the hull/serial#. Which i did make the front of the canoe. I could be wrong but either way looks the same.
@@DeMarcheAdventures the canoe may be symmetrical but typically the seat closest to the end is the back seat. That gives more leg room to the person in front. When paddling alone it is sometimes good to redistribute the weight by sitting backwards in the front seat and paddling the canoe backwards so the front is not so far out of the water. Just a little pointer. Its helps especially when its windy to give the paddler more control.
I thought that but front and back appear to have the same exact leg room. Doesnt look that way set up but empty the seats look exactly the same. I'll measure it and maybe turn those around if there is any difference. Thank you!
That's a good idea, you never know. I do bolt the motor mount on and tighten the heck out of the motor so much so that it's hard to get off, but I'm going to take that advice. Good piece of mind to have. Thanks!

The only thing I don't like is that I get a lot of aquatic plants stuck in the blades and when I crank it forward I can easily clear it out. When it goes back I can't reach it and have to use an oar to clear the seaweed. Good catch though, you're the first to notice in 50k views. Not sure why but this is the most viewed video.

@@DeMarcheAdventures There is about a foot more of leg room in front compared to the back, and the logo is always in the front. I could tell just by the amount of room behind his set it was backwards
@@timahern7214 I measured and the foot space in the front is exactly the same as the back. That's why I was unsure. The logo makes sense. I didn't know if it was front or back. The C14 logo was up front and when I put the hazel grace sticker on I figured there were labels on both ends. It doesn't look like it really but there is equal amount of room front and back.
Hello! Too much weight in the back with me back there along with the motor and mount. Especially if I'm solo. With my kid up front it helps a little but with the heavy battery up front, it helps tremendously with balance and smoother maneuvering. Thank you for your comment.

Turn motor around don't snap it if u run into something it needs too be able to pop up

The only thing missing is a cable from the motor to attach it to the boat, just in case.

Yeah. Probably for better weight distribution. When I solo paddle my canoe, I go backwards for that reason.
