I like your vids on the canoe - love your Pack set up! I'm over on the AR/OK border...so I also fish a variety of lakes, creeks, rivers, and ponds. I agree with you - 33 pounds is a dream to carry where I want to. I'm coming up on 10 years now of owning my OT Pack canoe. - I lowered my seat, thown on a GCI Sitbacker seat from LL Bean, got a 275 double bladed paddle, made up a quick detach DIY paracord and rings full length achor trolley and a DIY drift sock ...I just love it. Heck, years ago I posted it a bunch on the internet, lol! There have been 'kayak attempts' for me. I've still own a Heritage Redfish 10 SOT, a Eagle Talon 12 SOT, got rid of a WS Tarpon 12 and WS Tarpon 10, and got rid of a Old Town Sit in....The biggest problem is lack of space IN FRONT of me. I don't like all the twisting around to get stuff behind me in the kayak. I'm good with 2 rods rigged...easy to place in front of me on the thwart...or I will put together my fly rod and stow away the other rods under the gunnels and I've got a wide, clean, snag free area to work with. Not to mention that I'm 6'4" and I can stretch my legs fully, cross my ankles under me, or put my feet about anywhere I want to. My primary use is fishing...and it's a dream to paddle and configure how I want for the day/trip I'm on. As you said...plenty of room for anything you care to bring. I have taken one of my labs with me...no way I'd try that on a kayak. Never much wanted to stand and fish....I don't fish bedding fish out of (my own) principal, and I learned from my dad and later my FIL how to catch more fish that a man should have a right...and neither of them ever stood to fish in any boat they ever owned. I just can't imagine a kayak being as good (for me) as this OT Pack canoe. I car top mine on a lifted Jeep Wrangler or Lifted Samurai...no way I'd want to do that with one of the kayaks! I use a utility trailer to haul the kayaks for friends/family to use. I admit I've not tried a pedal kayak...but I don't have much desire to honestly. I have been fishing out of canoes most of my life...and with my Pack set up and double bladed paddle for just about 10 years now, I'm awful content with my skill set in all conditions and fishing applications. My biggest concern is now it truly is "irreplaceable" since there is no more Royalex material to make them with. To replace it, for the weight, space, and function...I'd now have to go up to a $2000-$3000 canoe. It spent 10 years in the shed...but now it's coming into the heated/cooled garage from here on. I'm washing it by hand, using the recommended protectant, and generally trying to make sure it will last me the rest of my life! lol. Hope you enjoy much success in your tournaments - tight lines!
I have just gotten back into fishing after getting to the point of healing from back surgeries and just telling myself its ok to enjoy life again. I picked up a comfortable sit on kayak. With a kayak I've found that its near impossible for me to reach around and get what I need from the milk crate. My neighbor has a near new 14 ft canoe for $250. I'm probably gonna jump on that for fishing because a person and half way stand up and move to get what he needs. I love the kayak and love being on it. But for a stoved up 6 ft extra long legs and arms man its hard getting the things I need when they're needed. It'll still get plenty of use for drifting the rivers.
I was literally saying to my wife that I want a canoe but too large to be kneeling on the deck or sitting on a narrow plank. That chair looks like my answer.
I use a twelve foot Eagle Talon love that yak super stable. I have been thinking about a pack canoe now I know I am getting one. I use my kayak for duck hunting I think one of these will be better. Thanks for the review.
Nice setup. It inspired me to go with a canoe over a kayak when I was looking for a replacement. I have the OT 119. Good boat. Pulled the seat. Got an Ascend Low Profile camping chair and set it in backwards (basically made the bow the aft). Works for me. I sit for hours and feel stable. A few questions on rod management. I have a crate with the rod holders that stick straight up. I fish a lot of banks with trees. Does not work well for me. I only carry 2 rods. How do you mange with so many rods? Also, I never added rod holders to the front thwart(actually rear). I always felt they get in the way. Plus the trees suck. Does having the ball mount aid in this? If my back/butt could handle it I would try the suspended seat again. I can see how the suspended seat would help out by having a place to slide the rods under the seat so they do not hang out over the bow. I agree with you on the peddle boats. Hey bud nice vid! Might be careful with those lights on your bow. Check the lighting regulations for your specific craft... certain lights means certain things. If you have red and green nave lights you might be mistaken for a powered vessel which could prove dangerous. I believe your vessel requires an all around white light... this also help with identifying what type/ characteristics of your vessel... just food for thought stay safe man! Though those would be good for night fishing! Attract some bait fish!

I have the OT Guide 119 and us the 250 cm which is adjustable to 230 cm for easier maneuvering in the tight spots I go. If I had the choose I would have got the 260 cm . I also use a shorter paddle for small adjustments. It is basically an emergency paddle I can extend to full length if there is an emergency or a snake.
That cool that they let fish kayak tourneyment in a canoe. That don’t allow it here in AZ and neither does KBF. Seems kind of dumb because we are all doing the same thing and the difference between a kayak and canoe is not much when it comes to fishing
Gotta wonder if it the sponsors or if the canoe is an advantage or both. Yeah, I’m a canoe guy for any water it can handle. Yaks are best for rough water, but why take the weight if you don’t need it.
to me the beauty of a "simple craft" is keeping it simple... 2 rods max ...keeping it very minimal...it's kinda like putting a "whole bass boat" on something 10x smaller ? ... nice rig... just sayin

Just scored a sweet 12 foot Old Town Katahdin on the curb gonna use some of these tricks to get mine working better than my fishing kayak

on my opinion canoe is more comfortable for fishing than a kayak , 'cause it prevent anything from falling overboard
