If Floor is nuts so is the entire band. I have never seen a singer fit so well into an existing band and master the songs of two previous singers as well as Floor has done.... and the more recent songs! Tuomas deliberately pushing her vocal abilities..... Yep, they're all nuts!

Man, you got to watch The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean. Same Wembley Show. I am a metal head, just go and react to it. And the poet and the pendulum is the best Nightwish composition ever, the songwriter kills himself in that song, it is out of this world performance as always. . YOU GOT TO CHECK THOSE TWO. It's nice to hear comments from a guitarists point of view. "Shudder Before the Beautiful" is the opener for this Wembley concert. Including a nice duel between keys and guitar. It would be interesting to see your reaction to that song.
Emppu achieves his tone with a Kemper and some hours with a friend in a studio fooling with profiles, he has a 4 x 12 sideways on stage for feedback only, and also as a pick and beer table. . . . . . . . . . It's not what she can't do, but wont do, thankfully French rap is off the agenda. . . . . . . . . . . Great reaction, approved!
I don't know if anyone mentioned, but in Ghost Love Score and Romanticide you saw the original Nightwish drummer Jukka Nevalainen. Unfortunately during the recording of their 8th studio album Endless Forms Most Beautiful in 2014 his chronic insomnia disorder culminated and he had to quit playing with the band. He asked his great friend Kai Hahto from Wintersun if he could replace him so they can finish recording the album and for the upcoming tour, till he gets his problem under control and comes back later. Unfortunately he never came back, although in recent years his health is fine. Kai is now the permanent member of the band and Jukka is still with the band in management. Us OG Nightwish fans really miss Jukka and his unique style, showmanship and energy, but we are more than happy with Kai cause he is also brutal drummer and great person, just maybe not as expressive behind the drums as Jukka. So in this Yours Is An Emtpy Hope video this is Kai and you are going to see him in the videos that are filmed from 2015. Check Ghost River. Well actually check out any of their stuff. I prefer Floor, never really liked Tarja. Her vocal talent is undeniably good but, I just think Floor is an overall better fit. But yeah, Ghost River is a good next choice.

New songs written specifically with Floor in mind. 'Yours Is An Empty Hope' is the 4th track on the 'Endless Forms Most Beautiful' studio album. This concert was another milestone for Nightwish, they were the first Finnish band to headline Wembley Arena. In a Wembley Arena annual poll for the best live performance of 2015, they came 2nd to Queen.
"Storytime", from Wachen 2013. One of their most "radio friendly' songs. Very good! Very catchy. If that song started to be requested on rock radio stations more, then it would likely build the North American fan base up to the point Nightwish could play bigger and better concerts over here versus the smaller venues they have been playing.

Floor is singing deeper and rawer than Marko? Amazing. I knew he can top his voice out up in her soprano range to my uneducated ear. I'm sure she can do things with her voice a purely classical soprano probably wouldn't attempt. As to Emppu, he's an excellent harmony player, with Tuomas' keys or most recently with Troy's bagpipes. You're right about the riffs, guitar teachers should show these vids to students who need to learn bass and guitar riffage in the context of a vocal led band.

The fact that this is the 1st song in a long set is just nuts. Sure, it gets the audience pumped, but to start with all that rasping and growling and then sing all the stuff Floor does is just mind-oggling.
The only thing that Floor CAN'T do is perform poorly on any song, it is impossible for her to be anything except awesome. She could gargle with mouthwash and still sound epic doing it. Her growling here scared even Emppu on stage (LOL)!!!!

I want to preface this by saying I think Floor Jansen is one of the best vocalists metal or otherwise currently alive in the world. Period. That out of the way, if you wanna hear some fantastic growling as well as lovely clean singing, you need some Jinjer in your live. Tatiana (lead vocalist) is another massive talent, and the whole band including her are enormously talented musicians. The Live sessions 'Pisces'video is the usual first reaction, and though undoubtedly being a very good song, not their very best (in my opinion anyway) and certainly one of their softest. Another good one to start is 'Perennial Live at Wacken 2019 or their live performance of 'Who is gonna be the One". I think you'll enjoy them, and metal style wise it's something different than Nightwish. And variety ios the spice of life, right?

A band of a completely different genre you probably haven‘t heard yet is „Lord of the Lost“ from Hamburg / Germany. Their singer Chris Harms is also changing between beautiful clear, dark singing and grunts&growls. They are great musicians and released beside their regular albums three acoustic „Swan Songs“ longplayer with a classic ensemble. Growling is not really Floor's specialty, but she can do it. Nightwish does not do a lot of growling songs. This song was actually written for Floor unlike many of the early songs which were written for the 2 previous singers. Great reaction video my friend. Peace.
