Glad that Sloan lets you film all of this. It's all interesting to see how today's tech is going and how much it can be a pain to work on. Back in the day, the next gens could have been considered a pain but, easy now. LOL At least this was a fairly simple and easy job. Great video as always, cheers :)
Hey ZK, I have had great success with cutting 25mm off those PIP bolts and installing them in tier 3 engines. Take your time cutting so the bolts don’t get hot and you’ll have no issues, done dozens of them and never had an issue…just a tip!
Zeth, you're an awesome technician. I fill sorry for you two what weather conditions you put yourself through. Totally dedicated in what you do. Definitely look you up at the next one. Stay safe!!
Thanks for another great video ZK and Joseph and Ben. It was most definitely interesting and very enjoyable to watch for sure. Well, this was quite the process. Before I get to going here , my compliments to you for knowing exactly what the problem was, saw your note that the oil cooler was bad, you hit it right on the nose. Good going. Also my compliments to you for continuing to teach Joseph and now the new technician Ben. Ben is a good one it appears, he got right after it and did the work to get it done. Nice job Ben. Am sure both of these gentlemen know the value in having you as the teacher. Well I really enjoyed this one. Just amazing what has to be dismantled to get to the source of the problem. Was great to see this and learn along the way. Thanks showing us the process coming apart and going back together again. You hit it on the nose, oil cooler bad. That oil really messed up a lot of parts and hoses. Good move to replace it all to prevent future issues. Love that battery powered fan. At least keeps air moving around you. Nice of the farmer to help with the flourishing of the system several times. About it I guess. Learned and saw a lot on this one. Thanks for everything ZK and Ben and Joseph. The Iowa farm boy. Steve 😊😊👍✅👋🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hi Zak. Your videos are awesome and thanks for sharing them 👍👍. Seems like a common theme in your videos and that is John Deere quality control!!?? Seems always a coolant related issue, fuel issue, transmission issues and may small things to cause the problem s but ending up costing $thousands of dollars to fix!! We left Deere last year after 40 years and now are totally Fendt. Will continue to watch a great mechanic on his daily mission 👍👍
I can just imagine that conversation of the customer with his wife lol "i need dish detergent while your at the store" lol and separate recept for tax write off lol
Oh the pitfalls of combine work. Belts, chains, gear boxes, internal stuff, electronic stuff, engine stuff and the list goes on. Plus they must be repaired usually while screaming hot and covered in dust and chaff. You the man Zeth. A more calmer (at least on camera) man and mechanic you will never meet. Try and keep cool. Heat stroke ain't fun believe me. It put me in the ER a few years back. Drink tons of water and take a break when you can...
Hot and dry or humid? Dry you can add misters to drop the effective temperature like a Swamp Cooler. Flush the tank with Dawn and a pressure washer. 3:26
I'd got same problem with a nissan titan oil in the radiator. DONE had the oil cooler change, top of engine done, head is still great & been pressure test great no cracks no where. Put back together still got same problem.
Have a question we have had a 2014 s680 for 4 years and just recently purchased a 2012 s680 one noticeable difference we have noticed is the 2012 you can not hardly stand to be in the shop even with doors open after it’s ran only a minute. The exhaust odor is terrible. Our 2014 we don’t have that problem. Why would that be??
Hi. Do you think it's a bit risky running the Combine before the leak test on the oil cooler came back. If the cooler had been OK and the head gasket was at fault, you would have re contaminated the system.
Knowing what I know today I’m sure I’d never put water/antifreeze in any of my machinery again. I’d use a product called Evan’s Coolant. It’s a coolant with a boiling point of 375 degrees (that’s right 375), non corrosive and doesn’t expand at heat causing overflow and no hotspots, It’s a new day……
“Replace most of the coolant hoses.” Because engine oil is deleterious to the hose ‘rubber’? How do you know which hose does not need to be replaced, all of them have been exposed?
John Deer Should Be Making More Reliable Machines,Seems There Not Made Very Well,Always These Things are Breaking Down and Costing a Fortune to Repair,No Wonder they Dont Want Farmers Working on Them as They Would Never Get any Work Done🙂 They Need to Get Things More Reliable,Not More Complicated.
Funny how you lost your place after your Shania Twain comment. You could see the image flashing across your eyes, no thought of tractors for a couple of secs.
Just so you guys know- the oil cooler tested bad. Problem confirmed!
Good going ZK. You knew. Nice.
mostest common problem "irregardless" of color
That would have been a hell of a lot of work to do all over again if the oil cooler was not the issue.
It's hotter than Shania Twain jumping rope in the attack.
The Shania reference was one of the best I’ve heard in awhile
Yep wouldn't mind seeing that myself...
Someday your kids will see this and appreciate how hard you worked to provide for them. Keep plugging away!
👍the Shania Twain reference!!
It is a joy to watch a master mechanic at work. He knows what is required to fix anything green.

As usual; another clear and detailed explanation of another job. You are the man ZK
Love the channel. Nice to meet Ben.

Time stamp.... just way too much effort....
Cool, thanks
I remember Days like that on A Rooftop Replacing a AC Compressor on a 10 Ton Rooftop Unit!
Another awesome video Zeth! Both jumping rope quips were great.
Another awesome vid! What a job! Keep the deere's running! Stay safe
Zeth, you're an awesome technician. I fill sorry for you two what weather conditions you put yourself through. Totally dedicated in what you do. Definitely look you up at the next one. Stay safe!!
Your skill and knowledge always impress me.

Great Video!
Good job sir.
Hott . It’s only 105° here today . Not bad at all and 80% plus humidity too.
Hot and dry or humid? Dry you can add misters to drop the effective temperature like a Swamp Cooler. Flush the tank with Dawn and a pressure washer. 3:26
Amazing job
appreciate your work!
Like the battery tools . We only had air 20 years ago
Another good video for dinner :D Greetings from poland :D
Thank you for the video
GREATJOB!
You can keep the combines I’ll keep working on my normal 9 series tractors lol 😂
You do great work
I'd got same problem with a nissan titan oil in the radiator. DONE had the oil cooler change, top of engine done, head is still great & been pressure test great no cracks no where. Put back together still got same problem.
Great video content Zeth, hot stuff!!. Julian U.K KTGIM.
Nice Vid!
I use simple green and then drain then flush with Cascade
@ZKMasterTech do you have a video where you remove and replace the electromagnetic clutch?
Muy vueno los videos .👍🇺🇾🇺🇾
Shania Twain jumping rope in the attic? How long have you been sitting on that one in the chamber??
Whats hilarious is every time im in that same hole i always end up singing that same song. 😂
Never thought I would hear the term Schmutz in a green machine engine bay.
Soooo. He wants to learn how to work on combines, huh? Here’s your sign!! Be prepared to spend lotsa time standing on your head. 😎
What year and how many hours on the combine?
Have a question we have had a 2014 s680 for 4 years and just recently purchased a 2012 s680 one noticeable difference we have noticed is the 2012 you can not hardly stand to be in the shop even with doors open after it’s ran only a minute. @ZKMasterTech where did you get the hoses hooked to the transfer pump?
Great video, a guy I work with at my dealership loves watching your videos, could you give him a shoutout in the next video, his name is Nathaniel W
Did I miss the thermostats going in?
So damn humid the other day I breathed in and damn near drowned myself.
@ZKMasterTech do you replace the seals in the thermostat cover?
He did so twice.
Hi. Do you think it's a bit risky running the Combine before the leak test on the oil cooler came back. If the cooler had been OK and the head gasket was at fault, you would have re contaminated the system.
Another engine flush would be small work compared to the head gasket.
That song at the three minute mark sounded like a woman was involved😂😂😂😂😂
Wondering how busy all of you JD tech's will be after JD moves to Mexico?
Yep spot with those water pumps causing damage to the engine block.. that’s why our combine is out of action right now :(
No leaks no dripping no problem 😅
Knowing what I know today I’m sure I’d never put water/antifreeze in any of my machinery again. I’d use a product called Evan’s Coolant. It’s a coolant with a boiling point of 375 degrees (that’s right 375), non corrosive and doesn’t expand at heat causing overflow and no hotspots, It’s a new day……
17:00 Your Pig Mat will filter the oil.
How good is it watching other people work😂
“Replace most of the coolant hoses.” Because engine oil is deleterious to the hose ‘rubber’? How do you know which hose does not need to be replaced, all of them have been exposed?
Any thing else can I do.
👍👍👍
It's a cummins 5.9.liter desiel.
There no water in the oil pan or on the dip stick. No oil going back to the oil pan. Truck doesn't knock like it blowing up.
Didn't know you were an Alice in Chains type of listener 🤘
It’s hotter than 2 guys kissing out here. Been 100+ every day.
John Deer Should Be Making More Reliable Machines,Seems There Not Made Very Well,Always These Things are Breaking Down and Costing a Fortune to Repair,No Wonder they Dont Want Farmers Working on Them as They Would Never Get any Work Done🙂
They Need to Get Things More Reliable,Not More Complicated.
The STS series are like 12 years old already...just normal stuff, nothing major.
They probably could make one that's fail proof but it would cost 10 million dollars and be too heavy to make it across a slightly damp field.
Says the clown that has yet to master capitalization. But still squeezes out a emoji.
Thumbs up for singing Alice In Chains
Hope he dosnt get a copyright strike for that lol
Funny how you lost your place after your Shania Twain comment. You could see the image flashing across your eyes, no thought of tractors for a couple of secs.
Sounds like a design problem another reason not to buy a John Deere
We all know you are not in this industry.
What brand were those angle wrenches you took cooler lines off with?
Tekton
My man spitting those sweet Alice In Chains lyrics!
My favorite!
👍👍
