Yeah I like them too. The green Jets helmets brings back memories as well.

I am a lifer, forever Cowboys fan but as long as they were not playing us I loved this era of Falcons football. It's apparent that Freeman McNeil was injured and didn't play. Still to this day he is the best running back ever the Jets. I consider Curtis Martin a Patriot. Also, the NFL GOW and Week in review are the two greatest shows in tv history..... period

As much as I disliked the Falcons as a kid being a 49er fan, I do miss the red Falcon helmet. It makes the black falcon logo stand out on the red background .
The black helmet with the the white outline of the logo isn't that good. It's basically black on black and just white outlines of a falcon. They should bring back the old Falcon uniforms like how the 49ers got back to the old crimson red uniforms and white/red strips on the helmet.

NY Jets & ATL Falcons. I like the uniforms and helmets. Both good teams

This game illustrates why White Shoes belongs in the HOF. BJ was comeback player of the year in 1983. He had this insane play later that year where he catches the ball off someone’s knee on a Hail Mary then he jukes out 7 niners defenders to score the game winning TD although his knee was down before he crossed the plane of the goal line. My Jets, Joe Walton, big leads are bad news. No lead was safe with JW as coach. It was incredible to me that Walt Michaels was fired after going to the AFC title game, he turned the Jets around and why wouldn’t someone else hire him to be their HC?

PLEASE PLEASE Atlanta Falcons, bring back these uniforms! They are unmatched in looks and downright coolness. I have been a loyal Falcons fan since 1978.

I remember watching this game as an 11 yr old. Living in CT, the only time I could see the Falcons was when they played NYJ, NYG, NE, or had the rare prime time / national game. I became a fan in the strike year of 82 b/c of their uniforms…1983 was my first full season as a fan. Even though ATL finished 7-9, I have always looked back fondly at this season- some crazy games, like the Hail Mary win vs the 49ers, the crazy OT win vs GB (like 48-42 w/ the two pick-sixes), and this game vs the Jets. I remember a Dec Saturday game vs Marino & the Dolphins that the Falcons hung around in, holding their own at the Orange Bowl (ultimately losing). Anyway, it was great to watch this. I miss the old NFL highlight packages / shows like this.

I remember watching this back in the day and laughing my ass off at Mick Luckhurst's dance at 19:12. He was clearly mocking Mark Gastineau, as were some of the Falcons dancing at the end of the game.

I liked that, thought it was just funny. A team snatching a victory out of the jaws of defeat having a little well earned fun.

Great additions for the Falcons, with Mike Pitts (#74), and White Shoes - and Gerald Riggs. Luckhurst(#18) was a reliable placekicker.
That had to be a bitter loss for the talented Jets. That was a killer D-line they had, and what I thought were some solid linebackers.

Brutal loss for the Jets, blowing a 21-0 2nd half lead to a 2-5 team

Man I just saw a commercial that displayed Gastenau’s poor and declining health. Sad to see these football gods bodies fall apart after the game has passed them by.

As a Jets fan the 1983 was a frustrating season. The Jets lost several games they should have won. The previous season they made it to the AFC championship game. The Jets finished 7-9 but lost 3 or 4 games they should have won. What made that season even more disappointing was leaving Shea Stadium after the 1983 season.

I agree with you, the New York Jets leaving Shea Stadium after the 1983 season was more than disappointing, it was a disaster and a major football franchised mistake!!!

I remember this game- unbelievable how it turned around in the third quarter, starting with whiteshoes's TD and Darrol Ray batting the ball out of his hand during Billy's dance.

Billy "White Shoes" Johnson and the Atlanta defense was responsible for helping Atlanta getting 27 unanswered points in rainy, muddy Shea Stadium, what a terrible, awful New York Jets loss!!!

Jets have had a lot of bad seasons in their history. 1983 was arguably the worst. After two great seasons, finishing 7-9, combined with the move to Giants Stadium, was very frustrating

In 1983, they lost to the Dolphins at the beginning of the year, they picked Ken o'brien over Dan Marino, and replaced Walt Michaels with Joe Walton.

  • @ErikSchneider1975USA
    @ErikSchneider1975USA ปีที่แล้ว +1

The 1983 New York Jets had everything to make the AFC Playoffs, except for a good head coach. One thing to fire Walt Michaels, but it's another to replace him with someone who wasn't as good. The 1983 Falcons still have a good team on offense, at least when they could protect QB Steve Bartkowski. But their defense fell apart under head coach Dan Henning. Even matchup at Shea Stadium.
