I'm a 50 year old Patriot fan, but man there was something about those 80's Jets I couldn't dislike. I'm sure it was the players/uniforms that hooked me at ages 8-16
That’s because the jets had only two identity defining eras. The 60s and the 80s. The 90s 2000s and 2010s they only had a short identity moment with players and then unfortunately suffered from losses. In my opinion the 80s jets were the closest team to winning a super bowl other then 1968.
@@je9212 they got to the playoffs as a wild card all of those years. The Jets with all of that firepower couldn't even win 1 division title in what was a fairly weak AFC east division.

@@conlanding O'brien was a flawed quarterback. When his receivers were covered he would just stand in the pocket until he was sacked. A good quarterback would either run with the ball or throw the ball away to avoid getting sacked when his receives were not open.
If his line would have been a little more tougher they could’ve went to the pinnacle. In 85 and 86 O’Brien had a killer passer rating. Injuries took him down. Damn shame. I am a southern boy Jets fan. I hope this year they can make some noise
The Jets had a great team that year..They beat themselves in a bad game against the Gaytriots..they had a good chance at the Superbowl...haven't been the same since except for 1998 and 2002..

Dave Jennings was an excellent New York Punter for both giants and jets RIP Dave

Wesley Walker and Al toon were the best jets tandem receivers ever
Because it's true
You got that right don't forget Mickey Schuler at tight end

Bad luck, Walton wasn't a very good coach. Wasn't terrible but...Walt Michaels was better

Thanks for uploading the 1985 New York jets I enjoyed it

Pat leahy was an excellent kicker for the jets from 1974-1991
He was jets kicker in the 70's 80's and early 90's

Mickey shuler was also great as well
What a squad we should have won the Super Bowl that year.

@thecarolinashreds196 Obrien held on to the ball too long and thus took too many sacks.

In 2001 they had a good team too. They played the Raiders tough in the playoff loss.
7-9 in 84 to 11-5 in 85
Yeah it was a Big improvement from 83-84
Lance mehl was great
Love my J E T S...✈️
I was at that playoff game
CORY BERNSTEIN-27 COMMENTS, OVERKILL?
Way overkill
If Giants stadium has today's turf, the Jets go to the Super Bowl during the '80's. It always seemed every year they get the injury bug.
Injuries have always been the excuse used by the Jets. Every team gets Injuries. The Giants won 2 super bowls playing on that same astro turf.
I thought it could of been a better season
