My interpretation of the “tea time” line is slightly different. I could be wrong but I believe tea time has a bit of an feminine association, particularly with ladies having, as you pointed out, light and casual conversation. Framed a little negatively, the stereotype is that tea time is a place where women sit around and gossip/“spill the tea”. I see this as Taylor being convinced that her friends, despite what they may tell her, actually come to the same conclusion of her “being the problem,” whenever they’re chatting together and she’s not around.
that's a great point!! she could be thinking that others are talking behind her back and as you said, come to the same conclusion she has about herself like, she's the topic of conversation. perhaps not only amongst her friends but strangers as well thank you for sharing that! 😊 ✨
Ooh, the “teatime” lyric gets me, especially how she elongates one “everybody agrees” into a sssssssss hiss……I always think of it in the context of spilling the tea, especially with the snake reference (reputation era, look what you made me do video etc.) Everyone seemed to agree Taylor was the problem in the whole Kimye situation, and it’s something we know she took really to heart.
yess!!! omg i have a reel/tiktok planned about that hiss!! i'm glad you mentioned it bc i lowkey thought it was a big overanalysis on my part love how she works in small details like this! thank you for your comment! 😊
She's playing the Seinfeld/Kramer/Gonorrhea game plain and simple with a Textbook Ultra High-Level Multi-Generational Malignant Borderline Personality Disorder substituted for a Venereal Disease. Her reference of "Tale as Old as Time" is from her affliction throughout history being exclusively known as the "Jezebel Spirit" until modern times being redefined as Maligntant Narcissisms manifestation in BPD's. The original Jezebal was shoved off a balcony by her underlings.
First of all. Very excited for this series! In the North of England and in other parts of Britain, like Wales, tea time refers to "dinner time". I'm northern so I always refer to dinner and "tea". I thought maybe this could have been influenced by British culture, or Joe, but Joe is from Kent in the South of England, so it's unlikely. Just something I thought I'd note. I imagine this part of the song being very much part of Taylor's paranoia. I think of her imagining her friends and family having dinner/tea without her and she's imagining them all agreeing with one another that she is the problem.
oh wow, i didn't know about the differences in regards to the term "tea time"! thank you so much for sharing that! 😊 i love that you mentioned "paranoia", i think that's a great way to think about it! and thank you!! 💖 i'm excited to dive deeper into these songs!!

Don't know if anyone mentioned this but "tea" can also be considered gossip . Mostly in relation to the gay community , This is where the term originated .
Hey, I was wandering if you could analyse some of the lyrics from Adrianne Lenker, maybe from “Anything”, “Indiana” or “Indygar” She’s exceptionally good at songwriting

You are wrong. Terminator 2 is far superior compared to the Terminator, the same for the Empire strikes back.
