    Another reason her "rebellion" detailed at 15:13 has been successful beyond the tone of it (polite, cordial-which, I might add, is something often *not* asked of white stars that is asked of black ones; race plays a role in your Q score, too) is the substantive altruism of it. She was only able to re-record the old stuff *and* own the masters of those re-recordings for two reasons: 1.) She owns the publishing rights to the compositions, as the primary songwriter on literally every single one of them. 2.) She was able to negotiate master ownership of all the music to be reocrded and released under her new record label after leaving Big Machine-Republic Records. She earned that negotiating power through her first decade of success, but she then leveraged it by persuading Republic to agree to distribute their shares in Spotify amongst ALL their artists in non-recoupable fashion-meaning, those payments wouldn't be counted against the advances those artists were paid at their initial signings (literally every dollar a recording artist earns after signing is counted against that advance, as well as against every dollar the label spends on them after that in recording costs, marketing costs, etc.-it's essentially a million tiny pyramid schemes). It's similar to when she fought Apple and Spotify over royalty payments to artists-it wasn't just about paying *her* what she deserves. It was about setting a precedent so that the next generation (and the ones starting out now, like Olivia Rodrigo) can be paid what they deserve and can actually make a living.

I was bawling and in awe that she did this. I was like omg how amazing. I agree with another commenter - started liking her music but fell in love with who she is and I do think that’s because she loves who she is! Great analysis.

Moreover, with her healing journey, she is step by step able to manage her relationships better. Now just see the way she has many good friends around and enjoys every little thing with them naturally (pls update her new life, all of which you mentioned seems to be in the past). About her BF, it is just not a suitable time for them, and at least when she breaks up, with no posts, separation, or heavy sadness, they accept and move on happily, or at least at ease. Just want to point out, Taylor does own her songs. She didn't own her masters or the recordings of the songs. Basically, she didn't own the albums. She was going to buy them back until a secret backhanded deal got them sold to someone who wasn't good for her. She was able to re-record her albums because she still owned the copyright to her actual songs. It was a fantastic move that was not just good for her but for all songwriters.

She understands she would not have the success she does without the fans & tried very hard to make sure we know she appreciates us. From still doing after show meet and greets on tour, to always stopping for pictures at events, down to interacting with fans on social media. She maintains a relationship with the fans that a lot of artist stop working on when they become super successful. What makes her so charming to me is that even though she is this HUGE superstar, she works to make sure people still see her as a person.

    I can believe that Taylor Swift is a really sweet person butttt... it's not natural, genuine charm. It is something she wants to give off, she wants to be *seen* as charming and cool. Even though her true personality and interests are pretty eclectic as she said on the interview about Nashville and not having many friends at school. I think she is trying to prove to those childhood and maybe current bullies that she is indeed cool and socially popular/approved/admired. She doesn't need that approval though and she can just be the sweet music and cat and whatever else obsessed person. Newsflash we can't be eclectic AND charming. Honestly I feel like anyone that is eclectic AND charming is psycho (Im not saying this about TS because as I said, I don't think she's naturally charming but wants to seem it). We make out charm to be such a good thing but in many cases its not, it can be manipulative (wanting all people to like you counts as manipulative, sorry) and narcissistic especially when it has always come so naturally. Even though manipulation is seen as a pretty evil quality, it's something we have to see as a quality that many people who are generally good and even kind people can exercise or try to exercise especially if they have been made to feel excluded or rejected. We honestly shouldn't put charm on such a high pedestal. Connect with people and be yourself and if the vibes aren't there you don't have to force it by being "charming" or trying to get them to like you! Don't take it too personally if people don't, people have their own views and moods, no bother in trying to win them over. Life's too short and let them be. You're good enough. You are good enough.

      Qualities we should admire and aspire to instead: kindness, good listening, not taking one's self too seriously, sharing, being open-minded, being brave and steadfast in your values/standing up for those less powerful, being selfless, being someone that take's care of yourself well, taking pride in your appearance and small daily habits, being affectionate, appreciating other's work or talents, being optimistic, being consistent, being a team-player, knowing when to put your ego down, being open-minded and humble, defending the truth, living in the moment, and being someone that unites and reminds us of our shared needs and joys as opposed to being divisive or holier than thou

      finally, let's also not forget that most people that we probably think of when we think of charming are just really beautiful people, and that is certainly a successful trait in drawing attention and people naturally want to engage and laugh with beautiful people! we are but simple creatures, mates

    Hi Anthony! My name's Rosie and I'm from Argentina 🤗 I just wanted to say that I loved everything about this video ! Taylor is definitely a genius songwriter, singer and storyteller but not a lot of people take the time to shine a light on her personality and talk about what makes her so special, so thank you for making a video about that! I wanted to ask you if you'd like me to add Spanish subtitles to your video, so I can then share it with my friends!

    I think that part of what allows her to make people feel special, aside from being very good with her words, is that it comes from a genuine place of caring about people. Taylor Swift loves people. She cares deeply for her friends and also makes friends easily. From what I've heard about her from others in the industry, it is very difficult NOT to get along with Taylor.

    As fascinating as this is in the context you present it.. the darker places of my mind can’t help but see this as a pretty comprehensive checklist of qualities for a sociopath to imitate. I know I’m jaded but these days whenever I meet someone ‘charming’ I see it as a red flag rather than a draw…

      Narcissists and Psychopaths are known for being charming. But theirs is superficial, there are always give aways, especially when they are caught off guard or under a lot of stress

    • @randomfornow
      @randomfornow ปีที่แล้ว

      they tend to be all these things, it's so true. I think maybe the difference is that once you get to know them the more you see they are arrogant, have low self-esteems, and things like that.
      I often hate charming people. I'm not sure if its cuz i suspect that they're perfection is fake, or becuz, I just hate how people can be so perfect.
      I think maybe realness is not something I would be jealous of, it's soft and relatable and doesn't make you feel bad. So people who are naturally charming often aren't like that, they just appear to be like that, and that's what drives me nutz. If they would really be that way, I don't think I"de mind, which is the case with Taylor.
      Sorry for this long comments lol.

      Not everyone who is charismatic is a psychopath. That’s the only trait that she has. And she’s never been caught faking it, like most psychopaths eventually do. They usually end up slipping up briefly, though it happens quite rarely. It’s referred to as the “mask” and they call it the mask slipping. (Psychopaths themselves have talked about this as a struggle they sometimes have)

    The whole "making herself small" thing isn't actually a conscious thing that we do to make others more comfortable, it is merely the result of a lifetime of being made to feel as if we're taking up too much space and somehow, our mere presence sucks all of the oxygen out of the room and makes life more difficult for others.
    It's nonsense and we should all Walk Tall and give the "haters" the finger, at this point.

    • @CrimsonEclipse
      @CrimsonEclipse ปีที่แล้ว

      I think for Taylor it's actually intentional she tried to be small. It's a learnt habit based on experience.
      She grew up with people hating on her because they were jealous of her since she does have more than the average person. She grew up being beautiful, tall and skinny, talented, and rich who had very loving an accommodating parents who to moved to Nashville just so she could focus on her music at aged 13. In her teenage interviews told people she has a 4.00 straight "A" in high school and had a record deal at age 14. People in her High School hated her because she was the over privilege girl who talks about how smart she was and how wonder her parents was to allow her to be a musican. She was showing how perfect her life was and her classmates hated her for it.
      The feeling of loneliness from her peers caused her to change her behaviors because everyone is intimated by her and by her privilege and success. If she doesn't act humble she will be destroyed. Yes, she is passionate about her music career but as someone so young at the time it's totally unrelatable to her classmates and to the average person.
      Yes, it's easier for her to sing at a concert and go to the recording studio than when she goes to high-school. It's because she was made to feel special when she is center stages vs being around average students who only see her as unrelatable and she not being their equals.
      If she doesn't learn to be humble she won't make friends or keep friend.
      When she was younger even Miley Cyrus called her stuck up and frigid ice queen and they were friends. Anyone who acts like they are too perfect and above everyone are totally disliked.

    The only ones intimidating by her are the ones with bad thoughts and bad intentions in the industry that might feel like she can see through them
