- In this holiday special, we're exploring some interesting glitches and fun trivia exclusive to the winter season in the original Animal Crossing. Thank you all for your continued support for this channel, and I'll see you all in the New Year!

• Around 03:12, I mention Island houses not spawning, but this is likely due to a leftover “noclip” Action Replay code I may have had toggled on by mistake while I was testing things. This should not happen in normal play, and the AR code likely messed up the acre loading properly.

I expect this community to create a mod so that this game calendar can go until the end of time
I wonder how it could be done.
I don't think its possible, im not sure tho
@@PlusPaI limitations of the console aside it's impossible to count forever on a computer. So yes, it's impossible.
@@uwumacaronitimeThere could be some kind of block system of sets of 36/99 years that it does as an offset on top of the GameCube’s clock from 2000-2099
There's a reverse engineering project for the GameCube version.
Actually, the GameCube can go much higher than 2099, and if you set the time to 23:59:59 it will tick over to 2100, and continue to count normally past there. It's just that the clock can only be set by the user to 2099, and attempting to change the time after 2100 will default back to 99
No way! I bet i can mod the sram to go higher easily
@@littlemac5942 Yeah, I've seen that with a memory profiler on Dolphin, people have set the date to huge numbers. I'm not actually sure where it caps, I tried looking around but if I had to give a completely baseless guess I'd imagine it stops after 2999
my clock resets every time I shut my gamecube down so I’ve gone up to 2134 lol
For some New Leaf trivia:
On December 10, a heavy snowstorm is programmed to occur. With snow replacing the grass on December 11. On some years, however, a Fishing Tourney can also happen on December 10, and since most special events are programmed to have clear skies, this means the normal snowstorm will never happen. It'll be clear the entire day, then, suddenly, they'll be snow everywhere on the 11th.
Also, since most NL players seem to not know this, it is possible to save scum on Toy Day in NL to get all of the gift delivery perfect, by simply saving after receiving the magic bag from Jingle, then saving each time you give the correct gift to the correct villager. If you make a mistake, just reset.
Anyway, happy holiday!
WHAT?! After possibly thousands of hours playing the original Animal Crossing I’ve never known you could see Gulliver floating in the water while riding Kapp’n’s boat. Can’t believe I am still learning new things about this game over 20 years later. 😅
It’s pretty rare! You need to have Gulliver scheduled to visit your town that day whilst simultaneously not have seen him that day. With these conditions, he’ll spawn during Kapp’n’s boat ride in the ocean!
@@Hunter-R.Interesting! Does it matter if Gulliver is already on the beach? I assumed that he was always present on the beach after the 5 AM “reset” for that day. Is there a certain hour when he is set to appear?
@@Hunter-R. That explains it because part of my daily routine was checking the beach for his washed up self lol
"Christmas eve eve is a uniquely Japanese-English word."
Well that ain't right. I've definitely used this phrase as a kid and I'm not Japanese.
i did too!! i don't think anyone else ever really "recognized" it but i KNOW i was definitely always super excited for it as a kid
9:17 So then... What happens if you don't save and keep playing for an entire extra year?
2032! But you have to pay my electric bill. 🤝
Hello. I like your video. In Japan, Christmas is often family and friends holiday, where you have parties and eat food. But Christmas Eve is couple holiday. You go out to do things with your partner. It is very romantic. The day before is sort of for giving small friend gifts. Japanese do not give gifts in public settings like parties so I think it's best to give them before!
interesting!! Thanks for the comment, I didn’t know this at all
I'm so happy that a channel like this exists. This game means everything to me. Keep up the good work man
Why are you here? You are a Minecraft youtuber.
@@LimolaGaming Minecraft youtuber or not, it shouldn't matter! :p
They're more than welcome to enjoy different things than what their channel entails! Just like everyone else 💙
wild mogswap sighting!!
Good to know you have good taste in channels!
minecraft youtuber not allowed to like other game! ONLY MINECRAFT!@@LimolaGaming
I'm fairly sure that in the original game, "Toy Day" was just the event on Dec. 23rd, and Jingle's event was not given a specific name (it was called "Jingle Comes to Town" in a guide). But later games just used the name "Toy Day" for the actual Christmas event.
Now I’m curious-if you could do the collision glitch from the island and walk back to your town while it’s still in “summer mode”, would the igloo and snowmen render on the grass? It would definitely be silly and out of place but also kinda interesting to see.
I honestly just love seeing people talk about this version of Animal Crossing, so your presence on this website is so much greatly appreciated. Thank you for what you do.
I created a subreddit for this game a couple years ago
Needless to say, I'm so glad this channel exists ❤❤❤
God, learning about the 2030 thing was one of kid me's first experiences with having a looming sense of existential dread. Now that that fateful day's actually getting _close..._
I'll totally be there for the 2030 celebration! Watching these videos got me playing the classic game again and i had so much fun revisiting the villagers, the island and the memories. Hope you have a wonderful and safe holiday season and thank you for your videos. ❤
At 3:19, notice how the player doesn't stop while the screen moves-- in my experience, changing screens like this prevents the acre from fully loading, so that may be why there are no houses (notice how the house is around the middle of the acre rather than near the screen you entered from, meaning the game didn't need to load it before the player entered). Did you have noclip active? Noclip is how I skipped over the 'stop player movement and load next acre' check.
EDIT: Ack, you figured it out before I commented! I wrote my comment while watching the video and checked the description afterwards. Well, at least you got confirmation! The noclip code I use has a toggle, whereas yours seems to be constantly active. Try running into the screen transition rather than walking into it, that should be more consistent!
Indeed. I saw I had the AR code on after publishing, which answered a lot of questions since I swore I was playing without any active, but I think I checked the wrong Dolphin build or something.
Oh well… Sorry to have you type all that out! 😅
@@Hunter-R. Bwahaha, no need to be sorry! I enjoy talking about this game!
9:59 And now pull the ultimate powermove and publish the announcement for the premiere of that stream tomorrow.
Always a good day when Hunter R uploads 🙂
I love how Animal Crossing GC has multiple glitches that let you avoid paying for stuff like a GBA, link cables and legally pirate NES games lol
I only started watching around a month ago but seeing a small channel start getting weekly uploads is so cool. I hope you never run out of Animal Crossing things to talk about.
Having grown up with this game, these videos make me so happy to see. Looking forward to whatever you have coming up in the new year! Maybe 2024 will finally be the year of the e+ translation patch and you can dig into that.
Congratulations exceeding your 1,000 goal! I've seen every video you've made and you deserve all the success!
Regarding the GameCube clock, I want to say that if you set it to December 31st 2099 and let it pass midnight, it goes over into 2100 as normal and continues to keep correct time; though it resets back if you ever try to adjust the clock again after that.
Not 100% sure on this and I don't feel like booting up Dolphin to test, but to be fair I believe the GameCube clock still has a definite end date to it _at some point_ similar to Animal Crossing's.
hunter, your videos are so amazing and have been such a joy to watch. you came out of nowhere, and we're all so thankful to have you! thank you for exploring and explaining one of our favourite childhood games. happy holidays and happy new year!
You deserve all the support you're getting! Happy holidays, and keep up the good work!
Such a cool niche ive stumbled into, I totally forgot this game existed until youtubes algorithm brought it back up to me, awesome to see theres still a community around it today. Its even cooler to see the computer science aspects around the game, something I definitely didnt think about when I was 5 years old playing my gamecube.
Happy holidays! Loved the video, glad you've exceeded your goal for this channel so far :)
06:21 on my most recent playthrough, Tortimer gave me chocolates as a gift for the lighthouse event, not the lighthouse model! Nookipedia says you get the lighthouse model if you do the task in January and the chocolates if you do it in February. The model is way cooler IMO
Happy Holidays man, thank you so much for your videos ☺️
I like to pretend the "DUMMY" item is the villager tricking the player into accepting a big piece of paper calling them a dummy as a prize.
I remember your first video just released when I was trying to get the Mario NES item. I saw your video, and of course clicked on it. I decided to subscribe to you since you did so well. Congradulations on hitting (Almost) 20K subs! Have a Merry Christmas and happy new year, Hunter!
Happy holidays and thank you for the great videos :)
I loved this video and your channel so much!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Your videos are great! I love the amount of care that goes into editing them, it's very pleasing to watch. Excited to see what you do in 2024!
Happy holidays and thanks for all the awesome videos you posted🙂
Merry Christmas Eve Eve everyone
Are you planning to explain things for the other mainline games too? (And happy holidays!)
Great vids as always! your videos are so interesting and high quality I appreciate it!
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Hunter. R
Happy holidays! Wonderful video!
I always thought the dummy item was on purpose as a "try again" type thing when playing games in the igloo.
your editing is so cozy and comfy!!
Happy Holidays all
Thx
Happy 😀
Thank you, you happy Holidays as well ^-^
your videos are awsome, can't wait to see you grow!
I've never played an Animal Crossing game, yet still these videos are very enjoyable for me. Thanks for the Entertainment :D
Merry Christmas from Germany
Thanks for the upload ❤
Hold up I went in the light house when I played this game as a kid. I didn’t remember how to get in, and I’ve thought I must’ve dreamed it up.
The Gamecube and N64 Animal Crossing games have been a big favorite of mine and it makes me happy to see a great youtuber covering them! Happy holidays, I look forward to what videos you make next year! :3
Merry Christmas and Great video! Funny thing is, I own the original game, but I don't play it much, but I binge these videos all the time
A multiday Toy Day is kinda interesting because some European countries celebrate multiple events from the 24th - 26th instead of just Christmas on one day then the followup and cleanup.
Small channels like yours are great because the holiday episodes actually come out on time instead of being time gated behind a patreon etc. Happy Holidays !
Hey, I think this is my first comment in your channel but I've been following you ever since the algorithm blessed your debt video, and while I know a lot of trivia about animal crossing GameCube, because it's my game (playing since 06), the 2030 thing has terrified me since. My version is Pal, so I don't know if the dummy item can be given, but igloos can be used to make lots of money with a little luck.
Still, I didn't think a channel like yours couldn't pop up at this year, yet here you are. Keep up the good work and happy holidays!
In Newfoundland we celebrate December 23rd. We call it "tipps eve" or "Tibbs eve"
Dang im early early.. Merry Christmas Hunter!
merry christmas & thank you for your great videos
i never had a chance to comment, but i love, love, love your videos so much!! it's always joyful to see you upload!!
either one being 90% in size vs either one being 110% in size is almost the same thing
FYI the GameCube can roll beyond 2099 if you let it and it doesn’t reset back unless you try to set it manually
The out of bounds glitch can happen throughout the year too! I used to do it with the random balls that pop up in game. That was the only way I got to the island.
No, thank YOU Hunter! Your videos are great short but sweet nuggets of info, thanks for creating this content and hope you keep at it
I love ur content man !!
As someone who loves animal crossing and plays Doubutsu no Mori e+ (because my favorite villagers aside from all the wolves are Meow and Bow, I miss them so much and am sad they aren’t in newer games), I’m always looking for new (original) animal crossing content and you fill that niche perfectly
I absolutely love your channel and get hyped every time i see your videos come up in my feed, just love this shit man
I've always adored the Winter season in this series. My starting point was Wild World and I still have to fetch myself a copy of the original Gamcube game, but this channel is nonetheless my favourite discovery of 2023 on YT.
I remember one playing animal crossing one year on New years, and coming across Wisp for the first time. 😊
Merry Christmas!
As someone who has watched all of your videos, dating the special by the year makes me excited for whatever next year's special is,,, as someone with adhd i could only imagine the commitment needed but animal crossing is based as heck so i believe in u
Merry christmas eve eve!
Your honestly one of my favorite youtubers
I have never played Animal Crossing, nor have I ever even owned a N64 or a Gamecube, but these are super well made and interesting, thanks! Merry Christmas
I don't even play Animal Crossing, I just find these videos so intriguing!
I never know about changing clothes to get more gifts!! 😅
7:11 in sweden we have this but we call it little christmas eve. But what we do on that day is basically just play gambling bingo in the evening. Its one of the few days where minors gambling is socially acceptible even if its not legal
I presume it wouldnt be that hard to extend the AC GC year limit (unless it uses 32 bit signed unix time)
I was listening to this video with my eyes closed and when you said the calendar ends in 2030 my eyes shot open, haha. I hope someone can make a patch for that so we can play it indefinitely
I sure hope your channel will be around for 2030 New Year’s!!
Wish you a Merry Christmas ❤
Wow, does that mean that if you left your game on for a year after the 2031 new year, your villagers would acknowledge 2032 and so on?
Love you bro ❤
19.9k?? get this man to 20k for Christmas!!
I know my GameCube is in the attic... Maybe I need to see how my old town is doing before 2030.
This was a fun video! I don't know much about the original Animal Crossing, so this taught me a few things :~)
happy holidays, i hope the new year brings you a billion subs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Christmas Eve Eve" is crazy, Christmas Adam is an objectively better name
Keep up the good content please 😊
Merry christmas ❤
Can't wait for Y2.03K 🙂🎉
happy holidays :)
I had a DUMMY as a kid, was very weird and mysterious, yet cool.
I love your content and the fact you go into technical detail which I haven't seen much of before. Happy holidays and I hope you have a wonderful new year! I don't have a gamecube but I do have a Wii so I would like to ask a question would the original AC work with the backwards compatibility the Wii has? Would I need to get some sort of GCN controller add on for my Wii or would it be easier to just buy a whole GCN
Yep! Animal Crossing works flawlessly on the Wii so long as it’s a GameCube-compatible Wii. You do need a controller as you mentioned, but everything works flawlessly - even GameBoy connectivity.
I actually personally play my own copy of Animal Crossing on a Wii myself!
@@Hunter-R. Thank you! I now know where my xmas money is going lol. Can not wait to get a copy and try these glitches out in the new year!
Merry christmas
Watching this at 11:34 PM on christmas eve rn happy holidays everyone 🎉
i have a speical interest in animal crossing. very speical to me. your videos are very nice and comforting and im glad other people like the niche of werid ac logic and facts. (even if i already know 90% of the stuf lol)
I remember that dummy item. It looks like a hand flippin the bird(middle finger) if you rotate it a certain way.
I was expecting a y2k joke in animal crossing for the new year going past 2030
Heh, I don't care if I can't play AC beyond 2030. As long as I can play the NES and FDS ROMs I injected into my virtual memory card via Dolphin, I'm happy. Animal Crossing is my favorite game in the series due to the ability to play NES Games, a feature that never saw the light of day in the games that came after it.
2031 is the Y2K of animal crossing then I guess
I’m not Japanese and I joke about Christmas Eve Eve every year. Did it this morning too lol
the snowball out-of-bounds glitch really puts the christ is christmas
Fun fact, the comedy duo Paul and Storm wrote a song called Christmas Eve Eve.
Cant wait for the 2030 stream haha
God I love this channel
