@@testerwulf3357 i know that? i was just saying that our understanding of proper grammar could cloud our memory to make us believe it was "hylian loach" instead of "hyrule loach" yes "hyrulean" is the correct adjective but that term didn't exist in any zelda game at the time so no one would logically know to use that

My favourite translation errors are in the German version of Wild World and City Folk. The jock villager Kid Kat was accidentally translated to Petra. In later games they changed his name to Pit. Lazy villager Moe was also translated to Mia in the German version, though his name was changed to Tristan in City Folk. People online argued whether those two were female or male and at some point some German online forum even emailed Nintendo to solve that problem once and for all! But here is where it gets even more confusing: Tybalt was originally named Tristan in the German version of the Gamecube game and for no reason they changed his name to Arne in Wild World and stuck with that ever since. Those translation errors made me spend countless hours on forums researching and reading theories in my childhood and pre-teen years ^^
Sabre is just how we spell Saber. It's pronounced the same. From what I understand, Sabre is the original spelling, but at some point it was changed to Saber in the US (Similar to Colour/Color, but for different reasons), likely due to confusion on how how to pronounce the word? That typo thing reminds me of one I spotted in Tears of the Kingdom. For some reason there is a single piece of dialogue where they switch from the US spelling of a word to the UK one, and it bothers me greatly. As for why it happens with AC, I speculate that it's due to how translations used to be handled at the time. Typically the American team would obviously go by the US spelling, but the European team would switch between UK and US English depending on the game, the word, and Nintendo policy at the time. While "sabretooth" is the official accepted spelling for the creature, some US style guides such as APA allow for the switching of the R and E in cases where part of a word exists on its own and has also been switched in US language. So "sabertooth" is considered fine by some style guides because "saber" is a word on its own.
Saber has a very simple answer. Saber is the American spelling while Sabre is the European spelling. Same as color vs colour. Skyrim uses the "Sabre" version too. And it's just pronounced the same way as saber, you don't need to pronounce it sabré 😹
both of these are also applicable outside of Europe! words like sabre, centre, metre, fibre, etc. are also spelled that way in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

In acnh, the critterpedia says the coelacanth can be caught year round while raining but in the winter months it snows and the coelacanth cannot be caught
Oh! I remember noticing the "campain" back in the day! I wouldn't be surprised if Jeff's already found "I'd better bet going" from when a Normal is ready to end their visit or "I think it'd be a great a present" from when a Peppy wants you to deliver a present. I seem to remember back in the Wild World days... Remember how they'd want you to answer some questions using a slider? It seems like one of those sliders was built backwards, because the villager would behave as though you pushed the slider to the opposite end. Yeah, I think Twilight Princess just calls it a Hylian Loach. You ever notice that sugar is in the Savory tab? Finally, when a Peppy gives you something, she might tell you she "might get some with [her] face printed on them", which probably makes sense in many cases. Seems a little redundant when it's [name]'s photo, however.
I think the sugar in savory is because they wanted to group it with all the others (flour, brown sugar etc.) Still seems werid tbh. Could have just put brown and white sugar in the sweet tab lol.
I found a crazy error when talking to one of my lazy villagers. Basically he was talking about my second character who was digging up bells. By the way I was playing in my native language (French). My villager was referring to my second character as a "she". I did not take a screenshot at that time but I'll make sure to do it the next time I get this dialogue.
@@grookeymon I didn't mention it in my comment but my second character was male, so when I saw my lazy villager referring to him as a "she", I was confused. It happened while I was playing in my native language (French)
@grookeymon tbh idk either, maybe their second player was a male? That's the only reason i could see this as an error lol, that's my guess anyway, it's the only way that makes sense atleast as an error
Nick Robinson has had problems in the past with unwanted advances towards women while using his status to contact people in the video game industry. It got so bad that he lost his position at Polygon immediately after a handful of issues came to light. I don't think you should be making a statement about your support for him
This was back in 2017, he apologized for it when the claims came to light, and it isnt as dramatic as you make it sound, He would contact other women in the industry, yes, but it was over twitter, its not like he would find their contact info. Still wrong, and not an excuse, but I find the "using his status" to make it sound a lot worse. Shit happens, he apologized and held himself accountable for his actions, and havent repeated them. I feel like its time to move on from it as its been over 6 years.
@@haznutlatte It wasn't just contacting, he was begging the girls for nudes 💀 He used his position to get all the connections he needed to DM every woman in the gaming industry for nudes. It was pretty bad at the time.. But you're right that it was a long time ago.

Here's one I've never seen anyone else mention: During the title screen of Animal Crossing: City Folk/Let's Go to the City, if you compare the location of the two letter 's's used in 'Crossing', you'll see that they've been shifted upwards. This is inconsistent with every other instance of the logo, and I'm guessing it was an error made when designing the logo for the pop in effect seen when it first appears on-screen.
Here’s something I noticed a few months ago: I went to the Roost to get a coffee from Brewster, and when he poured the cup and gave it to me, all he said was “Coo…” and my two response options were “I’ll do just that!” and, “It’s way too hot.” These two options are usually in response to him telling you to drink it while it’s still hot, telling you to enjoy it, or telling you to drink up. All of which it makes sense to respond with “I’ll do just that.” But it happened to me once where he just said “Coo…” and I had those same response options. Interesting little glitch that was pretty weird and I’m still kicking myself for not screenshooting it because I keep trying but can’t get it to happen again! :(

I noticed a mistake in New Horizons soon after release, similar to the "stones" error at 10:12. I gave a stack of cherries to Katt, and she told me "Now THAT is a tasty-lookin' cherries!". Must be related, since they both occurred with a stackable item. Since Japanese doesn't have plurals for most words, there are mistakes like this in a lot of Japanese-developed games. Another recent example is the infamous "Extra Game Styles" in Super Mario Maker 2, when only one extra style was ever released.
my animal crossing city folk game kept changing the time on its own. id get on one day and it would be christmas. id get on the next day, town overrun with weeds, and it’d be midnight in july.

There was a spelling mistake in the German Animal Crossing New Horizons Version, where Mable (or Able I dunno, the blue one I guess), normally should've said "Mir wird ganz warm ums Herz." which roughly translates to "My heart warms up." But the spelling mistake was "Mir wird ganz warum ums Herz." which translates to "My heart why up." I saved a screenshot of this and after the last Update for the game, it was fixed.
Diplodocus is typically pronounced "Duh-plaa-duh-kuhs", but this is still a super great and informative video!! Keep it up, I absolutely love all the fun tidbits and facts!!
The thing with Guide books, I don't necessarily mind if there's a slight error here and there. It's 2024 now, I'm not buying guide books to use as a guide. I'm buying 'em for the fun and novelty of reading through them. Almost like an informative magazine dedicated to one specific game. Kinda like how, as a kid, I'd always open a game my parents bought me on the ride home, and read through the manual like it was just a thing to do, and it was usually fun with character bios, world lore, etc. I still have an unofficial Pokemon G/R/B/Y guide book, it's fairly inaccurate here and there, especially the actual cover image that doesn't even show a single official Pokemon design. But, inaccurate or not, it's still fun to flip through it and read the random bits of flavor text and info blurbs. -- Hearing that bit about save corruption on New Horizons, makes me glad I have a modded Switch. Even if it's not really a bug anymore, just the idea that I can backup a save manually any time I want is super nice. But even then, I've added some mods to my New Horizons. I'm playing offline by myself anyway, so screw it. I don't wanna cheat TOO much. Like, I'm not just giving myself 5 million bells, or making everything free or giving myself items or whatever. But I do have a few QoL mods. Stuff like removing tool Durability entirely, keeping Nook's Cranny and Able Sister's open 24/7, putting one of the Nooklings on the Mystery Islands and Kapp'n's islands, so I can just sell while I'm there, a mod to move the turnip seller to the Airport, so I don't have to hunt her down, a mod to make a couple of the hair styles longer. Stuff like that. Stuff that just fixes a few of the minor complaints I have about the game. That's how I tend to handle modding most games really. I don't necessarily wanna cheat or change the game TOO much, I just wanna use mods to add things I think are missing, or improve stuff I think could be improved. Makes the game more fun when I can just edit the parts I don't like.
16:56 mine sometimes lags for a slight second after loading up from a prolonged time on the Home Screen or something but never has it closed due to an error. That’s more common for me to see in Smash Bros… Actually, scratch that! I had it happen more often in Minecraft than I’ve ever had happen in SSBU
8:40 Cult of the Lamb is also a bit prone to these kinds of issues. I guess these kinds of games require very delicate tracking of who is and isn't eligible to be spoken of in dialogue trees.
15:37 I think it’s likely they just thought it was Hylian, tbf “hyrule loach” is a strange name, you’d think they call it a hylian loach if it’s from hyrule. Like the Zelda items In Mario kart 8
I mean since you brought it up people make the whole native vs. location error on real animal names all the time so I'm not surprised people misremember Hyrule loach as Hylian loach. For example the famed birds that fills so many people with terror official name is actually Canada geese not Canadian geese. Both names are typically recognized as ok though (presumably because its really not worth being that pedantic over the name of a feathery menace lol).
Someone in this comment section has mentioned it before, but I think it's so funny: There's a villager named Kid Cat, but in the German versions of older Animal Crossing games, his name is Petra. The translators apparently didn't know that he was a guy. The same thing happened with Moe, who was named Mia, and Ruby's name was Tommy. The people working at Nintendo apparently didn't even know about this stuff until a player contacted them. Edit: Mia's name was later changed to Tristan, but they already had a Tristan in the game and his name was changed to Arne.
There’s a bell duplicate glitch in wild world I used to use all the time as a kid and I haven’t seen anyone talk about it. You need to move a villager to a another town, as in another game cartridge (I think the function was called ds suitcase?). They will move over with the same amount of bells in their savings. If you then start a new character on the original town (it has to be in same slot, as in if the character that moved out was the fourth one, this new character must be in the fourth slot too), once this character has finished working for Tom Nook they will also have the savings from the previous character. My friend and I used to do this on repeat and it’s how we paid of all our loans in wild world😂 you obviously have to delete characters in the process but it was worth it. It’s a long and tedious process but it’s not something I’ve ever seen anyone talk about.
I never heard of that, it's crazy what you learn after over a decade of playing a game! I used to do the box method which involved placing specifically 100 bells at the foot of the box and putting down the item or bells and the box down in such rapid succession that they would appear at the same time. I think you had to move the box one square before taking the duplicate? I remember you had to leave the room and re-enter before doing it again. Sometimes I had to do it in a different room every few tries or leave the house if it stopped working.
NO WAIT I REMEMBER THE GLITCH SHGSHH you put the 100 bells down, then put another 100 bells down at the same time as the box so the bells appear on the box. Then you place the item or bells for duplication, pick up the 100 on the floor, go to the corner of the box to take the item, push the box a square and take the item off the box from the corner again, ick up the box, rinse and repeat. I had to keep leaving the room or the house because it would stop duplicating for me every now and then
In Canada, the r and e are switched. This is because Canadian English is this weird amalgamation of American English and British English, with its own words mixed in, typically coming from indigenous languages or immigrant communities.
i had this very weird error(?) where on my old island in acnh i tried talking to bob and flip but for some reason it made it to where bob and olivia were talking. then they had TWO separate conversations. bob was talking about wanting olivia to smell him while olivia was talking about a tv show. i was able to capture and to this day i go back and rewatch it and still wonder, “what is happening here?” lol
That's a rare-ish interaction when you walk in on a... I think it is Snooty and Preppy villager? Whichever ones it is, they're both having their own conversations not even listening to the other. If you read what other animals have to say about those types of villagers you may get responses like "they never seen to listen to a word I say" and sometimes you may get a conversation with them when they ask "what do you think" and you're given "yes" and "no" type options, and no matter what you pick they ignore your answer and just keep talking. TL;DR: That's not a mistake. It is intentional. It is part of their personalities.
this was totally a thing, the hylian loach thing happens with a bunch of animal crossing collectables because they repeat a repetitive text when you catch it so it gives people brainworms, i always get the mole cricket wrong
They didn’t specifically say “Hylian loach”, they mentioned a loach and then asked if it was Hylian, probably referring to the fact that it’s Lake Hylia where you catch it
In the first animal crossing, I had a few male villagers that gradually started to become female villagers.. pls tell me I’m not crazy! I remember specifically I had a male hippo character start wearing the female clothes, eventually his voice became high pitched too! It’s so funny and cute 😂 idk if it was on purpose or a glitch. But my brother and I as young children were perplexed by it at the time hahahaha
Why were y'all just leaving the game open and the device on??? That's a surefire way to overwhelm or damage a system. Leaving it on accidentally overnight is one thing, but actively leaving the game open and running for possibly multiple days?? Give the poor device a rest,,, give your poor eyes a rest,,, 15 minutes,,, that's all it needs,,,
I've recently discovered a weird ass detail in Acnh that I have not yet seen in one of your videos but I'm not 100% sure if you've already covered this or not. I'm sorry if this is common knowledge but I've never heard anyone mention this. In acnh your character can actually poop. If you have eaten something and sit on a toilet item afterwards your character will poop. Try it out. I found that put yesterday while playing and I laughed for twenty minutes
Isn't the Hyrule/Hylian kind of moot? Hylian would mean "Comes from Hyrule". Like, Canada/Canadian. You can call a Canada goose a Canadian goose or vice versa. It's just semantics.
And the Animal Crossing GC quote is gramatically correct. You'd ask if a loach was Hylian if it were a Hyrule Loach. That's like asking if a Canada goose is Canadian. The "Hylian" is the term that describes something as being from Hyrule. So it may be called a Hyrule Loach, but the loach is Hylian.
In the Legend of Zelda games there's a confusion in most of them too..But it's supposed to be that "Hylian" is in reference to the "human" race of Hyrule (like Link and Zelda), Hyrulian is in reference to things that are from Hyrule; in many games however they're used interchangeably to mean "from Hyrule" which is an error.
My best guess on why it was there is that your villager was off your island, but it was not on their island yet (like if they time traveled backwards or smth)
For Saber/Sabre I thought it was spelled sabre until this video. Sabre being a sword shape, with Saber being the american english version of the same word. I just affiliated sabre with saber-tooth and never thought twice about it

I did not take a screenshot at that time but I'll make sure to do it the next time I get this dialogue.
how is that an error? im confused

Here’s something I noticed a few months ago: I went to the Roost to get a coffee from Brewster, and when he poured the cup and gave it to me, all he said was “Coo…” and my two response options were “I’ll do just that!” and, “It’s way too hot.”
These two options are usually in response to him telling you to drink it while it’s still hot, telling you to enjoy it, or telling you to drink up. All of which it makes sense to respond with “I’ll do just that.” But it happened to me once where he just said “Coo…” and I had those same response options. Interesting little glitch that was pretty weird and I’m still kicking myself for not screenshooting it because I keep trying but can’t get it to happen again! :(

@@PenguinLotion522 I’ve seen it. The thing with sex pests is that getting caught doesn’t change their pattern of thinking, it tends to be compulsive. Expecting someone who does heinous acts to just stop, especially when they've never been punished for it, is just a naïve take..almost always they don't stop, they have no reason to stop really as they don't view it as bad (they've done it for a length of time, not just a once or twice incident) and don't get jail time or nothing so there's nothing stopping them. Just expecting someone to do better is a horrible thing to do, you'll almost always be setting yourself up for disappointment. sabre-tooth tigers are named after the sword type, the sabre. it SHOULD be spelled sabre-tooth, and IS outside of america.
They’re spelled sabers in the US
But then how did they make that mistake when there is a US translation from Japanese instead of porting the other world regions from Japanese 😭
Some of these mistakes are hilarious, like the one where Gaston says he doesn't care what Gaston says and the one where it says low temperatures will prevent the lakes from freezing 😆😆😆😆

There was a spelling mistake in the German Animal Crossing New Horizons Version, where Mable (or Able I dunno, the blue one I guess), normally should've said "Mir wird ganz warm ums Herz." which roughly translates to "My heart warms up."
But the spelling mistake was "Mir wird ganz warum ums Herz." which translates to "My heart why up."
I saved a screenshot of this and after the last Update for the game, it was fixed.

Hearing that bit about save corruption on New Horizons, makes me glad I have a modded Switch.

8:40 Cult of the Lamb is also a bit prone to these kinds of issues. I guess these kinds of games require very delicate tracking of who is and isn't eligible to be spoken of in dialogue trees.
Twilight Princess muddies the whole Hyrule/Hylian issue. The 'loach' in TP is actually a type of arrowana
15:37 I think it’s likely they just thought it was Hylian, tbf “hyrule loach” is a strange name, you’d think they call it a hylian loach if it’s from hyrule. Like the Zelda items In Mario kart 8
I love the way you edit your videos, very entertaining
i have that poster of all the characters. i remember when nintendo had to reprint it lol
Someone in this comment section has mentioned it before, but I think it's so funny:
There's a villager named Kid Cat, but in the German versions of older Animal Crossing games, his name is Petra.
I had to keep leaving the room or the house because it would stop duplicating for me every now and then
Good work Nick, you fixed a typo in a video game while living in your mom’s basement. #going places

i had this very weird error(?) where on my old island in acnh i tried talking to bob and flip but for some reason it made it to where bob and olivia were talking. then they had TWO separate conversations. bob was talking about wanting olivia to smell him while olivia was talking about a tv show. i was able to capture and to this day i go back and rewatch it and still wonder, “what is happening here?” lol
😂
The definition of talking past each other, lol 🤣🤣🤣
That's a rare-ish interaction when you walk in on a... I think it is Snooty and Preppy villager? Whichever ones it is, they're both having their own conversations not even listening to the other. If you read what other animals have to say about those types of villagers you may get responses like "they never seen to listen to a word I say" and sometimes you may get a conversation with them when they ask "what do you think" and you're given "yes" and "no" type options, and no matter what you pick they ignore your answer and just keep talking.
TL;DR: That's not a mistake. It is intentional. It is part of their personalities.

In acnh your character can actually poop.
If you have eaten something and sit on a toilet item afterwards your character will poop. Try it out. I found that put yesterday while playing and I laughed for twenty minutes
I think that this is common knowledge I think.
As someone who has ADHD, any of these spelling or grammar errors are really glaring. Now I’m going to notice that Bunsen burner misspelling.
…..I’m gonna go check my game for sabre. Though I have never spelt it like that in my life
Saber and sabre aside, it should be sabretooth CAT, not tiger
I didn’t think the “I moved out.” was an error? I used to trade villagers a lot and got that message a lot.
My best guess on why it was there is that your villager was off your island, but it was not on their island yet (like if they time traveled backwards or smth)
