Hello I don't know if you play simulator in WT... But do you have any specific advice about that? Everything you said in the video also applies to sim? I've been playing diverse simulators since 2009 (WarBirds, IL-2, etc...) But never touched a jet. I'm about to get Me 262 and CL-13 from german tree. My objective is to test the waters, see how fun are jets... There are few instructions videos to sim WT because is a much lower playerbase... Thanks With best regards
Minor correction to the Air Assault point: The Snail, in its infinite wisdom, has neglected to add any more brackets to the mode past br 6.3. So if you try the mode in your early gunfighter jet, you're going to be competing against your rank 7-8 teammates who are supersonic, and have BVR missiles, meaning you're not going to get any kills outside maybe the artillery waves.
Addon, BR relative scoring is a thing there. A 6.7 jet earns score at about 13-1 compared to a 12.0 jet. Score is the majority factor in results there and you only need about 1200 points for a full reward. I have ground out many early jets there taking the easy W by just being smart. If Im in something too slow to chase the pack, I sit and wait near the next wave is most likely to spawn. I only need to secure about 9-14 kills to get the full reward on a win in early jets.
The flipside of that is that the low tier participants need to do very very little to rack up a high score vs the high tier participants that are getting virtually no points per kill. Used to be that individual score didn't matter as everything got averaged out accross the team at the end, not so anymore so this does matter.
For clarification, air assault is not a mode to grind RP for lower jets. The main goal here is the same as the ground assault mode, complete all the waves with enough score to receive the full reward. Gaining the daily booster rewards and then going back to your normal grind.
Another thing. When you play RB with props, you're used to climbing at around 300 kph/200mph. Don't climb with early jets. Get up to speed first. Those engines got more thrust the faster they went. So don't try to climb until you are at least at 700 kph/450 mph, or you will get some altitude but will be very slow.
@@Wha2lesyou'll lose some speed/thrust but as a whole you'll finish your climb faster than if you did the normal prop climb (plus the jet climb angle is much less steep, you normally won't be going past 10° anyway)
@@Wha2les idk however high you want to, just as long as you can hold a decent speed (stop climbing after you slow down to 600-ish kph) after the climb because you'll never get the chance to get back up to speed without diving if you become too slow 3km is probably a decent place to be at but again wherever you are after going to about 600 kph is where you're going to be stuck for a while anyway
@lionstar2222 to add to this, the stat card is actually your best friend for making this choice. Though you are correct about the actually max speed at a certain height being a bad idea at times, it will give you a very clear understanding of where your jet should fight. If the max speed says it is achieved "at sea level" climbing in any meaningful way only hurts your performance. Whereas a jet that shows max speed at an extremely high altitude will generally have better handling at these higher altitudes and suffer more from compression at lower levels. A classic case would be the mig-15 vs the vampire/venom.
Tip: the most important performance upgrades for any jet are compressor and engine, they make a big difference in the speed and acceleration that are the most important stats.
Don't forget that if you can kill with your guns in a jet in RB, do it. Keep your skills up in that because missiles are nice, but bullets don't care about counter measures, ground clutter, or what direction your target is facing. Keep up the good work Tim!
Your main advantage in a jet is high speed exceleration. Most props hit a wall at 500-600km/h where (in a streight line) they only excelerate like 1km/h per second. So as a rule of thunb when fighting props in a jet, try to stay above 600km/h. Also avoid being in a situation where a prop is above you. If you find yourself in such a situation, try to bleed the prop of it's energy by baiting it into diveing on you, then diveing yourself and then running away and climbing. Most high BR props have a higher dive top speed then your jets level flight top speed so don't think that you are safe just because you are going fast in a streight line.
I feel like I got really really lucky with my first jet being the Meteor. It has the engine and acceleration problems but god it turns so well, gotta be one of my favorite planes in the game. Great and useful vid Tim, and all of you out there who's getting their first jet, trust what Tim says it's all true and informative especially about the having fun note
I love the first meteor it’s a great jet but I stopped playing it when the ramped the repair cost to like 25k at one point. I believe it’s been brought down now though. My first jet was the ho229. Hoo boy I don’t think I need to tell you how disappointing it was haha. I love it now though it’s like a older a10
Also one thing: the faster you go, the larger your turning circle will be. If you go against a slower plane, you shouldn't turn fight because the slower plane will turn inside of your turning circle and easily shoot you down.
Number one rule is to not do more than one or two turns with the earliest jets in a turn fight. In early jets, turns bleed ridiculous amounts of energy so it is far better to go for small passes and loop over to make use of the better energy.
To go a bit deeper into the difference between a piston engine and a jet engine: A piston engine has its torque strictly based on its rpm, in a graph that kind of looks like a parabola, and since the throttle pretty much controls the rpm, the only real difference is that when you go from idle to max throttle your engine will be a bit slower to catch up at the very start and the very end of the rpm increase to max and a bit faster to catch up around the central / post-central part (depending on each engine), which is something you barely ever notice. A jet engine, on the other hand, is way more strictly based on speed (or rather on the square of the speed), which is also one of the reasons why there is a lot less to control in a jet engine then in a prop engine, if anything outside throttle can be controlled. So while the throttle still, in a way, controls rpm, your accelleration (and thus your kinetic energy retaining as well) will vary a lot, so you can immagine the graph of your accelleration as sort of like an S, where at low speed your accelleration will be low because the engine will have a low thrust, and as the speed increases, the accelleration increases esponentially, up to a point where it starts decreasing esponentially, because of the drag (which not only is dependent on the square of the speed, just like the thrust, but also at your speed relative to the speed of sound, so from mach 0.8 onwards the drag increases by A LOT, which is also where most early jets stop in horizontal movement for this exact reason). One thing to remember is that your plane will also FEEL heavier, in a way, not only because of the airframe itself, but also because the engines will, for the most part, now be on the back, though early jet engines weigh less then most late piston engines.
Don't neglect your crew skills either. Make sure your ground crew has Rank V repair skill, and try to max out pilot skills asap - especially G resistance and stamina.
Yeah, those two are the most important. The rest are extremely conditional. For example, "vitality" might save your pilot from getting one-shotted. But, that won't matter when your plane lights up or tears from just a few rounds... *cough* P-51s... *cough* *cough* Japan...
@@IJN_Guy Agreed. Vision and awareness can be handy for spring threats sooner so you can react better, but still no replacement for your own situational awareness. And yeah, as a fan of Mustangs, I know how heavily impacted some planes are from just a yellow wing panel.
@@VenomVsTRex Yeah, "Keen Vision" and "Awareness" are a weird one. At one point, you can detect and identify fighters 21+ miles out and your radar will show them. Then, in other points, the game will hide enemies until it gets guns on you, regardless of if you have those two skills maxed out. This is why I prefer to use the things God so *graciously* blessed us with that He gave us two... my damn bloody eyes! If anything, it is much easier to identify planes by just looking at them, rather than wait for the big label and target marker over enemies. Fighter? Well, just know what fighter it is and don't die. Twin-engine fighter? Don't outrun him, turn and hope you get guns on him before he runs. Bomber? Well... that is just a "kill, die, or both" situation depending on the defensive armament (Be-6 nightmares :/ ).
@@breadm2089its not useless for ground attackers. Fully maxed ace crew ground pounder will take few seconds to resupply ammo and repair. Low repair and weapon maintenance crew will take 30+ seconds. This can mean a lot. Especially if youre playing in ground realistic battles, you will be able to do one more bombing run more often than not. With high repair skill you can also land without deploying wheels and breaking which is much faster than traditional landing.
Glad I was up late to catch this one. I have several friends who started playing a couple months ago who are about to make the leap into their first jets. I can teach props, I can teach mid to high end jets, but that transition is hard to really put into words for me.
A small tips for people that want to play arcade at higher tiers : play not only in your regional server but also on the others ones (like the US one if you're european), it will dramaticly reduce the queue time, by increasing the pool of player you can play with. You can also do this for every games modes that got strong queue time. The main drawback is the ping that go past 100 when you're getting a game from a server far away, but honeslty, i didn't even feel it when i'm playing, and i prefer this small drawback to the Realistic Boring mode.
What a thoughtful guide into next level gameplay! I'd only add a mention of etiquette in RB: don't kill steal when enemy is on fire/flat spin/engine out/etc
Some of the less competitive jets can do surprisingly well in Ground RB. A lot of the players doing CAS in the area around the early jets really don't know how to properly fly their planes, or are too focused on attacking ground targets to pay proper attention. As a result, you can get in some good kills against planes that would normally eat you alive.
I remember my first jet back then being the F9F-2 Panther. This was also the time back then in 2014, where you gravitated to transition to RB mode. A thing I especially needed to learn in a back then MiG-15bis dominating BR Zone was reversals. Reversals especially come into play when transitioning into RB. But once you actually swept the ground with 3 MiG-15s in the Panther, knowing you got closer to the Sabre it was a full seratonine boost.
Hey Tim F4EJkai Jdam guy here. I was about to fall asleep but when you post I’ll always stay up. Always informative and helpful. And the historical part is fantastic. It makes me want to copy her video format and do it with tanks but I unfortunately do not have enough nations in the game.
Tip that wasn't mentioned: be extra aware of where enemies are. The higher speeds mean that a enemy can very quickly close the distance and surprise you.
Good on you for showing off Assaults. Its an easy way to snag some RP if you fly smart in early jets due to the BR relative scoring. If you are too slow to chase with the 12.0s, sit and wait near where you predict the next wave to be. A 6.7 jet only needs 9-14 kills to get the same reward as a 12.0 with 100 kills. Im not joking. I have ground out more jets in Assaults than I have in RB.
Never played prop air rb, but doing cas on ground rb made it much easier for me to transition to air rb with early jets. The gut feeling is real when you only have 12.7mm mgs on your jet.
As someone with more than 20,000 Air RB kills, I'd agree positioning is important, probably the most important aspect of the game. You have to constantly 'read' the map and adjust your altitude, speed and location on the map. You should look at it as almost an aerial game of chess. Some people who say Air RB in props is boring are people who I think aren't actually playing the game properly. You are never just flying along waiting for something to happen. You should always be looking, judging, analysing, think where and when the enemy will appear. And end games with fewer players on the map. For me that's when the game really comes alive. When it's 2 v 3, or 4 v 4 or 1 v 3 that's when the real pilots prove themselves. There is nothing better than winning an extended 1 v 1 duel against another good pilot. Or helping a team mate in a 2 v 2 or 2 v 3.
Cheaters who hide outside the maps boundary shooting and one-shotting from one spawn to the other spawn is long already common place in arcades, especially tank and naval arcade, but for you and many more content creators to mention it is absolutely crucial and beneficial to the WT community. The cheaters are still very very hard to catch for not so tech savvy potato PC normal players like me, and we rely solely on skill alone, and nothing else really, skill and the grind is all we have...
I just had my first jet match and this guide was enormously helpful, and fun! I was so fast that I just ignored enemy planes turning into me, because I was in the F-84G, and I waited until I had so much speed that I could climb and maneuver with impunity. Watching people slowly give up on chasing me was hillarious!
I was 1 plane away from getting a german jet, only thing keeping me back was the money to buy planes and time to research some planes. Recent update put like 2 extra in the way.
I think what you said in closing is the most important. Most planes/jets can be good if you just stick with them and learn them enough. If you play a little bit of Sim I feel that helps too. You very quickly learn the ins and outs of an aircraft in Sim if you have the patience for it. What a plane does best, what speeds it does certain maneuvers best at, and even how to combat certain other planes that may have similar or different performance (Me 262 vs Me 163 for instance).
The reason prop players go to Arcade over realistic, is more likely due to two facts: 1-) The multiple respawns, usually allows players, that are still learning or aren't that good, a chance to do something on a match, the even if they get killed more often than they kill anyone, they would still have more chances to at least score a kill. On RB, with just one spawn, you will die before doing something for quite some time until you get used to game mode. 2-) You can use your entire crew roster, so you can easily switch to the plane, or the role, you could get the most out of the match. It also helps grind and spade multiple planes at a time. Also attacking AI targets gives a somewhat more decent results than on RB matches, so if the player finds out that he/she can't kill the other players in the match due to skill or plane selection, he/she still can get some rewards by killing AI targets, or doing CAS. When I played Arcade more often than RB, many times my team lost or won, becase the mission objective was to destroy ground targets, and while most of the team was involved on the fur ball, threre was one or two loners bursting every tank, pill box, AAA, Howitzer, etc., to he point that the game ended even sooner than expected. I started in ARB because I liked laying bombers and they are insanely hard to gring upgrades on arcade, then one day I picked by first B-28 and played an ARB, could barely bomb one base before being intercepted and destroyed, but my team won and suddenly I had a lot more SP to upgrade the bombers. I became good enough playing bombers on ARB, to the point that I started playing Naval Battles to get the SL needed to buy the planes, tanks and thir upgrades. because even when I loose a Naval Arcade, if I get top 5-6 I get 100,000-150,000 SL, if my team wins it can easily get as high as to 250,000 SL per match with the right boosters. Naval RB offers better rewards, but the matches take too long and you have a way harder time hitting the enemy with the mode's aiming system, which sometimes leads you to have to aim, with the enemy out of your line of sight, which obviously leads to loads of misses, extending the engagements for far too long. I ended up loving Bkue Water Naval battles so much, and got all ships on the American Tech tree and almost all premiums way before I reached level V in Air and Ground Battles. I couldn't have a jet or an helicopters, but I already had all BR 7. 0 ships on Bkue Water Naval, which is the BR cap since I've got in the game.
Very useful video. I've been taking a break from the game but where I left off, I was about to unlock the Vampire after a long arcade grind. The thought of having to spade it while having to play a gamemode I'm not familiar with, against (Probably spaded) enemy planes I don't recognise, and using a plane that plays fundamentally different to anything I've flown before... It's a bit daunting to say the least. Even more so with the game economy issues, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to upgrade and repair the plane. I forget exactly, but the SL cost of; 1. Buying the rank 4 planes below it, 2. Buying the Vampire itself, 3. Crewing and experting the Vampire -Runs well into the millions
It's an issue with arcade mode in general. Once you get past a certain point in the tech trees (worse for major nations) you end up unlocking new vehicles and mods faster than you achieve income. It might not seem like the most fun playstyle in the world, but ground pounding in RB really becomes the best way to pad your SL if you find yourself in a hole. In other aspects, if you are flying RB, and struggling to make any headway in credits, you are doing something wrong with your gameplay. As stated in the video, checking your ego at the door and changing things up/seeking advice is really going to be your best option.
The biggest difference is that instead of altitude being your "energy bank" it's now solely your speed Always be building up your speed as high as possible and don't climb
I AM SO EXCITED, I've literally been playing this game non stop for 7 months and I am SO CLOSE to rank 5, funny thing is I could just buy and crew the a4e right now but I want to wait and get the f2h2 banshee first.
A tip for German grinders, get the me 163, it turns a lot like a prop, at jet speeds, and then play a jet from time to time. Won't get frustrated with the slugish early jet performance and you can still learn about jets in a rocket plane. got myself ME 262, quit arb due too having
I quit jets because I was losing SL. Now I only play vehicles that repair in under 24 hours. I tried the new auto repair without losing SL feature, but went back to my usual routine. I got my two war bonds missions in a rank II DB-7 bombing one base and the rank IV Wyvern getting 'Thunderer' twice. I switched it back on for the special task, realistic, 'help with repairing x 7' grind.
My suggestion is to give Ab jets a chance if you dislike losing SL as the repair costs are much more manageable peaking at 4k, yes rank V+ matches do exist
One thing: You lose max repair cost if you J out or leave before "Aircraft destroyed." Always wait to hit the ground. Doing this I find rank V jets make the most cash in ARB.
i love how your patiance is challanged if your poor like if you quit the game at teir 3 or 2 or 4 but you made it to jets now its smooth sailing from here
A small note on what you said about arcade assault: If you're trying to grind mods while doing assault on higher tier jets, you'll get pitiful amounts of RP from planes because they're much lower rank than you. But ground targets are rankless and they'll give decent RP. Go hit the ground in that shiny rank 8, it'll be better research than eating entire waves of air.
Personally, i don't know why, but ever since i grabbed my first jet (the Squad 262), i always thought that jet gameplay is easier and more enjoyable than prop gameplay as an exclusively RB player. I later got my Meteor F Mk.3 and that point stands, tho on a way less newcomer friendly jet since you actually need to takeoff and it's just slow as hell all things considered.... and it has hispanos....
Yak-15 is frustrating if one doesn't know about its true strength... being a very good jet entry teaching moment, and a great trigger discipline professor.
I’m only about 2 battle ratings away from getting my first jet! It’s probably going to be the shooting star since I’ve heard good things about it. Although it could also be the thunderjet since I really want the Sabre.
@@BloodPlusPwn it’s going pretty well. I’ve now unlocked the F104 and MiG19 and I still need the SL for the F100 and SU7. My first jet ended up being the F84 and honestly I didn’t really like it since I couldn’t really adapt to the boom and zoom tactics it needed (I’ve since gotten better at adapting to new playstyles. Just look at me in the 104 aka the piss missile or pissile)
Great video Tim! Somethings ive noticed, my 1st gen jets are so expensive to repair. More than some of my higher tier jets. The kikka is probably the worst jet i have and its more expensive to repair at 7.0 then my 10.7... ive played in realistic matches mainly. But ive been thinking of swapping to arcade in these 1st gen jet BR's just to get a help on repairs and make the jet easier to fly with the arcade flight models. Realistic is my main play mode but ive been thinking lately... aynone else been thinking this? Side note, im an average free to play player, definitely not the best, and just now getting into jets. Great topic for a video.
I'm currently grinding rank V in the US air tree and I can confirm. A stock F-80 has a higher repair cost than the stock F-16 (idk about the spaded F-16 tho, the spaded F-80A-5 has a 12k repair cost). Try naval RB if you need some SL. It prints SL and you don't need to grind a lot, since rank 3 ships have very high SL modifiers and low repair costs. Don't bother with naval AB tho, it's not much easier and the SL modifiers are lackluster
2:55 personally I enjoy arcade battles more because they are faster paced and I also find them more entertaining, and when it comes to grinding for higher tier vehicles, i care more about being able to enjoy the grind rather than have the grind be faster but I hate playing the game.
This is pretty useful to me because I'm nearing the first Japanese jets so I may need this video again to watch My past experience with jets is just by Squadron vehicles, A4E Early in particular (and I hate that jet)
4:30 non american servers take longer, for me 4 and a half min for a realistic battle at premium jets range is normal, a match taking less than a minute is very rare here.
Thanks dude. My first jet is the F2H-2. I love it its so cool, but it took me 4 matches to get my first kill and I was killed immediately after by the guys gunners hahaha. Was still awesome. But yeah I'm strugglin with learning to fly it better in RB which is all I do anymore. I got to take off from a carrier one match and immediately said oh dude right choice for first jet (for me) no doubt haha it's so cool launching from one and landing on it for repairs....kinda hard that last part but so cool! Thanks again it helped 🤘
One of my takes on it, dont choose a nation whos first jet is a converted prop, like sweden, the airframe doesnt take the increase in power from the jet turbine very well.
Haha I quit for a while after getting my first jet too. Mine was the p80 but back in 2014 when it was way way worse and me 262’s used to bend everything over and have their way. I finally made it to the end of my grind and just in time for the golden era of top tier war thunder when sabers and mig17s were kings dogfighting in the sky’s above Korea. I miss those days, and my soul..
So I’m a PS5 player. Grinded thru props and I have a few jets. (F2H, F-84B-26, F9F Panther, F-98B (got it when it was on sale at -90%)). I just find realistic battles incredibly boring. You take ages to take off, fly, gain altitude and just die. I try my best for boom and zoom but aiming is basically impossible. Flight with a controller already is hard, but RB makes it basically impossible. I just get 1 shotted every time. It’s just not fun. I want to get to cool jets but the grind is just not fun when all you do is die.
2:50 newish player here, I started two months ago. I barely play realistic. I’ve only just started to get into it to help unlock a jet faster and jeez was that some of the least fun I’ve had playing this. No new player wants to play it cuz learning RB is so hard and on top of that, the game can take away your progress for playing poorly. A mode where you will get killed a majority of the time before you get to do anything, get less SL than arcade unless you kill half the lobby and most of it goes to repairs anyways, and have to spend 5 mins at the start of every match to climb only to get dove on, just ain’t fun. All that just to learn the mode and get some more research points ain’t worth it.
By far the most jarring change for me was turning. Not only does turning in a jet pull more Gs but your radius is bigger and your paths in a dog fight will take you much further away from each other than in was used to.
Nice video, I play mostly air RB and you're video is pretty useful for jet beginners. Little advice for you: you should use more the keyboard on pitch control instead of mouse aim, you will always get full movement of the horizontal stab so you can do tighter turns and use the mouse for the view so you will have a better situation awareness
I use a combination of both, but my personal keybind/control setup isn't really the point of the video. I specifically choose the footage/clips I include in my vids to try and showcase different play styles and flight situations, not as a flex of my personal "skills" or whatever.
I’m a new player and I’m just in shock at how good most people are at flying I have such a long way to go when I’m in my p51 is doesn’t do those maneuvers but also no near maxed out crew etc cool to watch though
I like to use the squadron one because it’s 3 different ballistics mean that if you miss at one place, you still have a chance to hit at another, which is good because the 262 A1 and the He 162’s cannons are absolute garbage at aiming, arcade or realistic. I’ve gotten tons of kills with 262 A1/U1, but only 2-3 kills total with the Heinkel. I’d rather fly the 111
@@DrHundTF2 i think it just has to do with how badly placed they are on the plane since they're like at the bottom of the fuselage it could be worse though there's an event reward variant of the 162 that gets i think just one MK108
I'm flying the Ho-229 with a buddy trying to teach him. It's his first jet, and I can't seem to figure out how to explain to him how to fly it. Any tips?
100% agrr on Air AB and Air RB I can't stand Air RB in props because it's 99% downtime and if something goes wrong, it's 100% wasted time, something that's totally different in Tank RB, you're in the action pretty quick and even if stuff goes south, it's not that big of a deal
the early mig 23 on the germon side is a dumpter fire it has 0 def and melts just by looking at it ands offinceive abilitys are just about none existint
I think why peole play less arcade in high rank is the amout of vehiclethey had When u are new and not really good at the game the first jet are tough time u dont grind well u dont have much rp and sl to buy and grind other aircraft thats why people switch to rb.myself included
I'll usually play some arcade battles when I first unlock a plane, just to get a feel for it and unlock some early upgrades. But playing RB is just so much more satisfying to me
Arcade battles give way more money with the same KD. If you have a 1 kd in arcade you make genuine profit, unlike RB where you're broke with even a 2 kd. Not to mention you don't have to climb for 10 minutes at the start of every map 😐😐😒. Arcade battles make me wanna snap my legs off though because everyone gets respawns which means 20 people teleport on my 6 every 2 picoseconds.

When you get to higher tiers this is your normal grind until you unlock countermeasures and armament upgrades.
Another thing. When you play RB with props, you're used to climbing at around 300 kph/200mph. Don't climb with early jets. Get up to speed first. Those engines got more thrust the faster they went. 3km is probably a decent place to be at but again wherever you are after going to about 600 kph is where you're going to be stuck for a while anyway
This is the kind of content the community needs.

@@TimsVariety You deserve every success coming your way!
Tip: the most important performance upgrades for any jet are compressor and engine, they make a big difference in the speed and acceleration that are the most important stats.
You know it’s gonna be a good day when this guy uploads at 1:30 AM
its 1:05 am
3:30 for me

9 am in Spain
Depends on where you are my brother
Speed is your only insurance in rb match
If you do find yourself in a dogfight with a slower plane, use the vertical because you have more energy.
Number one rule is to not do more than one or two turns with the earliest jets in a turn fight. In early jets, turns bleed ridiculous amounts of energy so it is far better to go for small passes and loop over to make use of the better energy.
To go a bit deeper into the difference between a piston engine and a jet engine:
A piston engine has its torque strictly based on its rpm, in a graph that kind of looks like a parabola, and since the throttle pretty much controls the rpm, the only real difference is that when you go from idle to max throttle your engine will be a bit slower to catch up at the very start and the very end of the rpm increase to max and a bit faster to catch up around the central / post-central part (depending on each engine), which is something you barely ever notice.
Repair is almost completely useless, but weapon maintenance is not. G resistance and stamina are certainly top priority, though.
Thanks for this jet AB gets no love it's nice to see some genuine advice on that mode
Thank u so much you a real life saver bro
What a thoughtful guide into next level gameplay! I'd only add a mention of etiquette in RB: don't kill steal when enemy is on fire/flat spin/engine out/etc
Lol no one is going to listen to this. It aggravates me so much!
Ho229 has entered the chat 😂
I remember my first jet back then being the F9F-2 Panther. This was also the time back then in 2014, where you gravitated to transition to RB mode. A thing I especially needed to learn in a back then MiG-15bis dominating BR Zone was reversals. Reversals especially come into play when transitioning into RB. But once you actually swept the ground with 3 MiG-15s in the Panther, knowing you got closer to the Sabre it was a full seratonine boost.
I've just got my first jet and noticed right away that AB matches were taking long to get into, this video has been a massive help 👍👍
I like how you console the audience about their decision making. Shows stellar compassion.
Literally I quit 2 days ago because of this plane. Thx buddy you encouraged me to fly it again 🎉
Well done!
Though you forgot the most important point.
"Attack the enemy's D Point, attack his will to fight."

The reason prop players go to Arcade over realistic, is more likely due to two facts:
1-) The multiple respawns, usually allows players, that are still learning or aren't that good, a chance to do something on a match, the even if they get killed more often than they kill anyone, they would still have more chances to at least score a kill.
I forget exactly, but the SL cost of;
1. Buying the rank 4 planes below it,
2. Buying the Vampire itself,
3. Crewing and experting the Vampire
-Runs well into the millions
It's an issue with arcade mode in general. Once you get past a certain point in the tech trees (worse for major nations) you end up unlocking new vehicles and mods faster than you achieve income. It might not seem like the most fun playstyle in the world, but ground pounding in RB really becomes the best way to pad your SL if you find yourself in a hole.
In other aspects, if you are flying RB, and struggling to make any headway in credits, you are doing something wrong with your gameplay. As stated in the video, checking your ego at the door and changing things up/seeking advice is really going to be your best option.
thanks for this video, i was very confused about this topic and never really found anyone talking abt this :)
Thanks for the knowledge, Tim!
I don't know how you do it, but you give really timely videos. Started some of the american and german jets and been struggling
The biggest difference is that instead of altitude being your "energy bank" it's now solely your speed
Always be building up your speed as high as possible and don't climb
@@fishjohn014 sadly the he 163 and the first 262 was my first jet exp haha. Should have started with America line
Great video full of legit info ! Thx Tim ;)
Doing this I find rank V jets make the most cash in ARB.
i love how your patiance is challanged if your poor like if you quit the game at teir 3 or 2 or 4 but you made it to jets now its smooth sailing from here
A small note on what you said about arcade assault:
If you're trying to grind mods while doing assault on higher tier jets, you'll get pitiful amounts of RP from planes because they're much lower rank than you.
I later got my Meteor F Mk.3 and that point stands, tho on a way less newcomer friendly jet since you actually need to takeoff and it's just slow as hell all things considered.... and it has hispanos....
this is some high quality advice
Yak-15 is frustrating if one doesn't know about its true strength... being a very good jet entry teaching moment, and a great trigger discipline professor.
My first jet was the F-80A-5 Shooting Star and it's definitely worth it. Banger.
Thank you for this video. I was kind of dreading reaching the jet but this help :D
Just got my first jet today, this helped a lot! killing jets are somehow easier for me bc of one shots lol

Oh man. The leap from Jets to using Jets with Radar is just as big as Props to Jets.
I’m only about 2 battle ratings away from getting my first jet! It’s probably going to be the shooting star since I’ve heard good things about it. Although it could also be the thunderjet since I really want the Sabre.
I'm curious how it's going now, if you're still there haha
Don't bother with naval AB tho, it's not much easier and the SL modifiers are lackluster
so helpful, incredible channel.
I live to serve. o7
0:52 I mean may progression was from the bearcat etc to the F2H Banshee, witch is not the easiest, I know, and had quite the troubles^^
I did this exact transition going from P51H to early US jets. The change was not that big. A much bigger change was when missiles were introduced.
It is worth noting that while RB tends to be slower the reward multiplier is also higher. So a kill in RB might be worth 2 or 3 kills in AB.
Hi Tim! I’m already a seasoned ARB player so this isn’t really for me but I love you still!
2:55 personally I enjoy arcade battles more because they are faster paced and I also find them more entertaining, and when it comes to grinding for higher tier vehicles, i care more about being able to enjoy the grind rather than have the grind be faster but I hate playing the game.
I wish they added an Air RB EC mode. But good tips here. Jets require smaller movements than props to try to maintain speed.
This is pretty useful to me because I'm nearing the first Japanese jets so I may need this video again to watch
My past experience with jets is just by Squadron vehicles, A4E Early in particular (and I hate that jet)
4:30 non american servers take longer, for me 4 and a half min for a realistic battle at premium jets range is normal, a match taking less than a minute is very rare here.
ayo tim upload lets gooo
"While realistic battles will pop in seconds"
Meanwhile me waiting 7 minutes in Israeli jets in RB. Pain.
Thanks again it helped 🤘
love your vids
You are correct, Air arcade gens more cash and rp for time invested, at least in props.
You have got to be kidding me, I used exactly these planes yet this video never got recommended to me
By far the most jarring change for me was turning. Not only does turning in a jet pull more Gs but your radius is bigger and your paths in a dog fight will take you much further away from each other than in was used to.
I have a SU-11 a prem, I suck at aiming and the low ammo is not helping at all but when I do get hits I does a lot a dmg
I needed this vid 4 month ago lolololol
Nice video, I play mostly air RB and you're video is pretty useful for jet beginners.
Little advice for you: you should use more the keyboard on pitch control instead of mouse aim, you will always get full movement of the horizontal stab so you can do tighter turns and use the mouse for the view so you will have a better situation awareness
I use a combination of both, but my personal keybind/control setup isn't really the point of the video. I specifically choose the footage/clips I include in my vids to try and showcase different play styles and flight situations, not as a flex of my personal "skills" or whatever.
@@TimsVariety yes, i get it and i think you got to the goals of your video so nice job

I hope you have guide coming up related to how to use flare and chaff at jet fighters too
To this day I still have no idea how to fly the ME-262's and I probably never will.
C:
I like to use the squadron one because it’s 3 different ballistics mean that if you miss at one place, you still have a chance to hit at another, which is good because the 262 A1 and the He 162’s cannons are absolute garbage at aiming, arcade or realistic. I’ve gotten tons of kills with 262 A1/U1, but only 2-3 kills total with the Heinkel. I’d rather fly the 111

100% agrr on Air AB and Air RB
I can't stand Air RB in props because it's 99% downtime and if something goes wrong, it's 100% wasted time, something that's totally different in Tank RB, you're in the action pretty quick and even if stuff goes south, it's not that big of a deal

IMO jets are way less fun that props. It gets to a point where it just boils down to who has better missiles and countermeasures and luck
I hated air until i got the F-84.
