@@wither6039 it's fine, I was one of the "F5C monkeys" for a long ass time. Been using the F5E as a stopgap between now and the F4E (can't wait to give it a shot). Also, I learned pretty quickly that the F5's can be an absolute menace in the right hands.

Same here. When I was grinding hard us tree, I was taking napalm for a single base, full aa load, arrived there before monkeys with a full load of bombs, and switched to fighter role afterwards. Ended up with a 2.1 kd with abysmal 45% win rate because of... reasons
Same here as well. I pack 6 1000lb bombs for taking out a single base alongside A2A loadout of 5 Sparrows and 2 Sidewinders. I got to do both bombing bases and scoring player air kills regularly. I either engage enemy players first on the way to the base or turn back to engage them after successfully bombing a base.

Also for those new phantom players I reccomend listening to meteors sound track it doesn't matter if you can't hear the RWR because 1. you'll be killing everything you see. 2. your phantom will be more agile.
@@cookiecracker2 not the commenter, but i love the Heatblur f-4e so much for a couple reasons, firstly its the best simulation of a phantom ever, its fairly easy to get into, that even I, who nearly completely new to dcs doesnt have too hard a time learning it due to the documentation and the tutorials available, and because of how dcs is structured, you'll almost never see f-16's, and very rarely mig-29's,unless you choose to, you will instead mostly see other aircraft of a similar era, with similar capabilities in air to air combat
There is no grind in DCS. Its a more immersive experience. You really control an aircraft in DCS, from start up until the very end. But I also like WT when I just want airquake. WT made me love Phantoms and Mig-23s; DCS made me love the F/A-18C Hornet... Only played both initially for the Su-27 and Mig-29; now I feel the need... the need for speed!
The bad service record of Air Force F-4s in Vietnam was because of poor training and doctrine, not the missiles. The Navy F-4s performed perfectly fine without a gun pod.

Hey! I just want to say that F-4S is one of my favourite fighters in the entire game, I have pretty good KD with, it really is incredible. We exist lol! Btw I really recommend taking 5 Sparrows 2 Sidewinders, that extra 7F, one of the best radar missiles in the game, is easily worth 2 mid IRs. Sometimes when I feel like it I even take 6 Sparrows, unless you are right on the deck Sparrow&F-4S radar can absolutely score kills below 1km in rear aspect :D Anyways great video cheers

@@starliner2498 on what mode do you use the radar when the furball develops. Since my main problem with this bus is the fact i can't make that stupid radar lock 💩.I try to use it on PD narrow mode mostly once i get in the heat.And i have problem locking even planes that move my way(head on)...
I honestly hope eventually that after you (eventually) get through the jets and stuff that you continue with the other plane families. I love this series because it mixes game advice with actual historical differences, which.. I'm a nerd so I dig that sh!t.
In the F4E, i bomb 1 base and then i go to get kills, i get on average 3 kills a game and almost always get a base. Im still contributing to the team and im helping myself, win win

The more I play the Phantom (specifically the F-4F/F-4F ICE), the more I fall in love with it. It’s a magnificent bird to fly, has good armament and loadouts, familiar playstyle, and, as you said, it’s overall a very fun and forgiving aircraft. Also, I live very close to where the F-4 plant used to be. It’s a shame that Boeing left it abandoned.
i loved playing the f-4f early when it came out because it was the only phantom at the time that could carry gun pods and missiles. when custom loadouts became a thing the other f-4s can now do that. if you are playing the f-4 without flares you can take rocket pods as suedo flares. if you cut afterburner turn and send off a volley rockets will usually track them instead. head on ir missiles are harder to dodge than with normal flares tho.
I'm sorry but after all the Hype I had for it in DCS and now finally getting it and flying it I can never really look at it in Wart Hunder anymore. I've just been flying it in DCS while the Meteor tracks are playing in the background at full volume every day since it came out XD
I would play the Phantoms if they could dodge IR missiles. I have so many clips of missiles, just IGNORING flares, no matter if I have the afterburner on or not while pulling like a $50 lot lizard. This thing is TOO HOT!

The more I play the Phantom (specifically the F-4F/F-4F ICE), the more I fall in love with it. It’s a magnificent bird to fly, has good armament and loadouts, familiar playstyle, and, as you said, it’s overall a very fun and forgiving aircraft.
Also, I live very close to where the F-4 plant used to be. It’s a shame that Boeing left it abandoned.
I miss the Kurnass 2000's Sparrows, it was incredible time to be a Phantom lover.
i loved playing the f-4f early when it came out because it was the only phantom at the time that could carry gun pods and missiles. when custom loadouts became a thing the other f-4s can now do that.
if you are playing the f-4 without flares you can take rocket pods as suedo flares. if you cut afterburner turn and send off a volley rockets will usually track them instead. head on ir missiles are harder to dodge than with normal flares tho.

I'm sorry but after all the Hype I had for it in DCS and now finally getting it and flying it I can never really look at it in Wart Hunder anymore.
I've just been flying it in DCS while the Meteor tracks are playing in the background at full volume every day since it came out XD

F-4E is my most played American jet, love that thing.
I would play the Phantoms if they could dodge IR missiles. I have so many clips of missiles, just IGNORING flares, no matter if I have the afterburner on or not while pulling like a $50 lot lizard.
