Recently hacked my ps vita 1000 model and put retro arch on it. Very happy with it for now. Will think about getting one of these when it gets more widely available for some PS2/GameCube/Wii on the go! Awesome review Taki!
Thanks for the review! I was majorly impressed by the battery life figures, but that new panel dramatically hurting battery life is a big bummer. Realistically, getting 9-ish hours for Genesis emulation is pretty sweet anyhow, but man, getting well over 10 would have been amazing. As it is, not that different from battery life on the Deck for those easier to emulate titles. I can get about 7 hours for SNES and Genesis games there. The 3D emulation would also be cool but I find getting 5 hours for those games is good enough unless I’ve basically decided to lay in bed all day. But the Odin Lite seems great for travel!
I often praise the Pro's battery life for what it does so it's a damn shame about those new screens for the Lite. Still ridiculously good value, especially for early bird backers. And there's still a good amount of performance to get out of PS2 tweaking those settings...very exciting for people who want one now. But damn, what a wait, backing the Pro was worth it to just get it at the start of this year.
Doubt they will be using different screens for the base/pro and the lite going forward, so battery will be equally affected on those. But I agree, that is a real shame, really looked forward to getting long battery life.
Are we sure the new screen doesn't just have a higher nuts/brightness at 100%? That would mean, say, only needing 70% brightness to achieve the old 100%
@@monsterous289 they wrote in the update that it was 15% less bright, and that they added two extra led strips to make it 11% brighter. So I interpret that as it's 4% less bright at max brightness, uses more power to be that bright, since it has more leds, and the new screen uses 240mA more than the old. Looks like the new screen is going to be really bad for battery.
Thanks for doing all the testing! I backed on Indiegogo back in January after watching some of your earlier videos about it and I just got it this week, and I totally agree! It's great! You just made me aware of Dolphin MMJR with this video and I'm realizing why I've been getting terrible gamecube performance.
For now I am really happy with my RP2+ for casual emulation, but once this device is more widely available I can see myself getting it for some dedicated GameCube, PSP, and PS2.
@@jamesyu5212 this is false? I have a Pro and a Lite...neither of which was $80. Also have the RP2+ and it doesn't have the performance of the Odin, it still has many playable Gamecube games and plays everything under that extremely well. No false info here my man...
I have an RP2+, my upgrade from an RP2. It generally meets my needs, though I wish I could get stellar GC and PS2 performance. For about double the price though? It feels hard to justify paying that for an Odin Lite when it seems inevitable that, within a year or so, we'll have something in the $99 - $129 price range that can match or exceed the Lite's performance. For me, that'll be the "final" system. I'll be able to settle into it and not care about whatever new thing is coming... or so I tell myself. I can't imagine what else I'd want out of one of these systems, but I guess time will tell. Maybe one designed like a 3DS with a 16:9 top screen and excellent bottom-touchscreen support, granting the ability to play 2-screen games on top of widescreen-hacked games all the way through PS2? That'd probably be the end-all be-all for me. The last problem would be Vita games, which pretty much have no emulation options that I've been able to turn up. I currently have a hacked 3DS and a hacked Vita; between those two and my RP2+, I'm just lacking amazing GC and PS2. A device like the one I described would eliminate the need for the 3DS definitively. We just need someone to get crazy passionate about making the Vita library available on Android.
The only thing that could get me to upgrade from my current combo, RP2+ and Poco X3 Pro, is if Xbox 360 emulation becomes a reality on Android. That's the last console I really loved before moving onto PC gaming for pretty much everything else.

I’m binge watching all your handheld reviews even though I have a Steam Deck in shipping now. Maybe it is the way you present everything and seem fair and honest. Maybe it is your thoroughness. But I’ve become a fan for sure and will point anyone handheld shopping your way. Love the channel
I get that there were a limited number of super-earlybird units that were under $200, but those are long gone. The cheapest version you can actually buy is ~$230 + $30 shipping to the US. It's a bit disingenuous to call something "under $200 when it actually costs almost $260 out the door. I know nobody actually has one in hand yet, but I strongly suspect that the Loki zero (which you can still preorder for
There was an option to get the Lite for $198 when this video went up but Ayn removed it a week later due to supply issues. Shipping was still $30 but the device itself was under $200. The main issue I have is with fulfillment, I can see myself getting a Lite but I'll wait until it goes retail (if it ever does). For now I'm sticking with my V1 hacked switch.
Finally a comprehensive review; it just sucks that ayn is taking so long to get these out to people...Would be nice to have these easily available for retail
This is seriously the device I'd replace my Steam Deck with if I ever had too as I never play PC games on it and only mostly use it for retro. So the Odin Lites price to performance and the fact it looks professionally designed is a huge win for my needs.
I wonder if ordered today when you'd realistically see one of these at your door? 3 months, 6 months? More? Want to live the Odin but access makes it such a gamble to buy right now. Who knows what you could get in 6 to 12 months from now. Great video as always Taki, always appreciate the candor.
No doubt about it, they became a victim of their success. Back in January, they didn't have that many orders and they had the parts for almost everything except this one. If they didn't have an influx of sales after that point, you'd only manage to shave a few weeks off the original backers getting their Lite units, but you'd be at the point where the company would have had Odin 845s on bigger platforms for a few months. Lessons to be learned at many stages with this one.
@@TakiUdon Absolutely, spot on. And yet since I've been waiting on something that can do higher end emulation (and frankly has your blessing) I'm really tempted to get one. Just wonder how long it would really take to get. Hmmm 🤔
@@Pridetoons still pretty different price point and not sure it will even emulate as well. Guess it depends what you wanna do with it. If love something for indie game titles in my stream library but Loki very well might not do higher end emulation as well. Guess we'll see
Sad that the new screen isn’t that great as the old one. Nevertheless the Odin is an awesome device and I absolutely enjoy my Pro since April. Best emulation handheld out there. @@RetroBreezeYT at first I kinda didn’t like em since they are are so small but it didn’t take long to get used to em and they are pretty precise so I ended up liking em after a while 😉
Excellent breakdown. I do prefer the colours on the Lite that look more punchy and the audio difference, although noticeable, definitely not a real issue for me.
Several months ago, I backed this project, hoping that this would be my ultimate "all in one" emulation device. Seems like it's the case ! Now, when will it be shipped... Good question. Eagerly waiting for it !
they aren't legally obligated to send handheld units, and they usually only ship them to reviewer types like this guy, I wont spend a time for a promise
These are just gorgeous - I only found out about them maybe a month ago, and now having to decide between Odin and Loki, light, max, pro...so many options so hard to choose.
Yeah i was interested in the Odin pro bit it may not be enough to run the ps2 ratchet and clank trilogy. So i looked at the loki mini pro i3 1215u but that wont ship until next year. So im torn maybe getting a steam deck or 6800u devices (if you have the budget/they will ship sooner then next year) is the better option.
@@ultimategohan1551 yeah AYN is in a weird state of limbo now, I feel -- a steam deck is a sure thing, though. Right now, I play my odin a lot more than my deck because I prefer it for retro games... and I only have so much time for games.... i'll give the deck more time later
@@galewind yeah id be perfectly content with a 16gb i3 1215u loki mini pro for emulation its only 389(havent really thought too much about the value vs a 399 deck) but who literally knows when it will ship, ayns build quality seems great and i would prefer something not as huge as the deck.
What a great Review 👍, thanks to this , I decided to order the Odin Lite (D900)+ 8GB LPDDR4x + 128GB UFS 2.1, now let's wait for estimated Delivery Date
I bought one of these immediately after watching this review...but I'm probably just going to go ahead and cancel right away if they're getting them out so slowly. I've been waiting for a while for the right handheld and this finally seemed like it, but not if I won't actually get my hands on it.
I've had my eye on the pro model for weeks now. Check their Kickstarter page especially the forum / updates section on the website - there's always people posting updates which will tell you how well the shipping is going etc. Some things I noticed whilst browsing the page is that multiple people highlighted long shipping times and issues with their display. The manufacturer released an update stating new display screens have been acquired but I'm gonna wait and see how they perform before buying it myself
You can also say in your reviews that AYN has been stopped the shipment since the last month because they run out of screens and we don't know when they gonna restart the shipment.
Very tempting to get this, especially as someone that wants to play everything, GC, ps2 and below in one handheld. The biggest problems I have with getting this device is that I'll be getting one that has worse battery life, which is a big deal, and more expensive as well as not pocketable. Pocketablity is maybe one of the key features that I wish to have in these sorts of devices. seems I'll just have to wait a bit but otherwise, seems like an amazing device.
Don't get it, they are not even making them, this just an add for a product that ayn doesn't seem to want to make. Also even if they make it, they'll use a crappier screen.
Oh man, i only a generation or two once TSMC pushes out its 3nm and Samsung gets GAA going, we're going to have enough performance to run pretty much all GC and PS2 games at full speed and still have great battery life. That's so exciting.
I cancelled my order a couple months ago because of the relentless issues that kept coming up. I also ended up getting a Steam Deck. The Deck definitely covers my performance and audio bases, but as someone who really cares about good screens, the Deck's IPS is miserable. I'd be curious as to how the screens on the new Lite models will compare. I really just want to get to the era where OLEDs become standard in Retro devices, but I'm sure we're a few years off from that.
Won’t happen no time soon. There are no 6 or 7 inch oled screens. They would have to spend millions to develop one. I personally don’t care. The steam deck looks ok to me.
I probably would have bought one of these but ended up ordering the Ayn Loki Pro i3. I figure it should be better in most respects except for price... I mostly want it for emulation, but I like the ability to play PC games too.
Yeah any handheld I buy needs the ability to smash my Steam backlog / the games that Epic keep giving me for free for some reason. A lot of such games I want to play on the go are pretty low end though, I'd be curious to see how well e.g. Celeste runs on the Odin Pro using Box86 (not an option on the Lite as it will likely never run Linux).
Sup Taki. I rely on your videos to enhance my handheld collection. Talking a space in my display cabinet is not easy for any product these days. I backed an Odin Lite off of your info. Paying extra for the biggest battery possible. I wanted all day battery. The devs then gave everyone the big battery option (for free) and changed the screen to a power hog that ruined the efficiency that I was after. I don't blame you though. Actually I really appreciate your Retroid Pocket 3 video addressing changes between what you are given for review and what we are sold. Keep up the good work.
Your final statement is the part that kills me the most personally. I pre-ordered one of these when they were 180 dollars. But when the first batch of Odin pro's came out and people were posting reviews with how much better it was than they thought. And I saw the great emulator support for such a famous chip like the SD845, I canceled my discounted order of the Odin lite and paid the new higher price for the Odin pro. Unfortunately I did that so late that I've been held back by the screen issue and still do not have my Odin pro even though I've been invested in this project for over a year 😩😩
It’s a shame that this great device has left such a bad taste in peoples mouths due to the shipping delays. The concerns over the screen affecting battery life also bothers me, especially since I assume that’s what will go into the Loki as well, which likely already won’t have great battery life with heavier titles
@@RyeJ_86 People have to understand, they did not "order" a device, they backed a project. The perk is getting the item(s) supported, while the company works out bugs and resources, etc. Most people believe they placed an order for an item, and it's just more complicated than that.
@@K3nVV I’ve told people that a lot. It took almost 9 months fore to get my Odin. Best thing to do with these is order and try not to think about it too much
I'm a bit confused by your battery life comments. You simply did all your measurements at 100 percent brightness, but surely if the new display consumes more power, it probably has a higher maximum brightness? This is why normalizing the brightness is so important. If you can get hold of both versions, I'd love to see battery life when both are set to 150 or 200 nits. Maybe then you'll find your issue isn't so bad?
Taki, you went through like 6 Odin Lites to get HDMI out, and the first clip you chose to screen record was the infamous "so long gay Bowser"? June ends and Taki goes demon mode
Hello and thank you very much for this detailed video ❤😊.... but I have a question and I hope you can answer it for me😀. When you receive the device, are all the emulators fully functional straight away? Do I then just have to put the ROM, i.e. the games, on the SD card? Or do I have to look for a BIOS and install something manually? Thank you very much for any answer.🎉
I would really recommend not buying an AYN product at this time. They still have not shipped Odin Pros to the majority of their backers on IGG and have shipped almost no Odin Lites at all. Every week there's a new excuse that pushes shipping dates out another month. It's constant goal post moving just to keep the orders flowing in. And now they are launching a whole new product line that will supposedly ship in Q4 this year? Hah, yeah right. Wait until next year and see if their store is actually shipping units as people order them, otherwise I'm afraid for a lot of backers this company is just going to end up shipping vaporware.
I cancelled my 68xx Pro after quite a few delays meant end of April seemed improbable and went for an £80 cheaper Poco F3 + Kishi I got for £40 on eBay. I still get emails through from the IGG campaign; it sounds like they're still shipping units in the 6000's is that right?

I've been waiting for this review. I've back the pro & lite. I like the Odin pro its good on emulation. The lite should be able to do just as much as the pro on emulation. The 4g data is what got me with the lite to play Xbox game pass on the go. The only problem is the screen that the 3rd batch of handhelds won't be as good as the 1st.
Hey Taki, great review! Currently looking into the Odin Lite in cold grey as my next handheld. Anyway quick question, what is name of the music track used from 12:10 to 14:01?
@@TakiUdon Thanks man. I caught myself vibing during that comparison section in the video so just had to ask hahah. Have a good one and looking forward to the next vid.
great video! one question though, you mentioned that you didn't include tier 1 or tier 2 systems, is there a graph to view which consoles are in which tier?
Thinking of purchasing a Retro Device as a present to my adult gamer son. I am researching and came across your excellent video. You did a great job of reviewing these. I do wish you had included the Odin Base also. Would the comparison be about the same between the Odin Base and the Lite?
So aren't all the Lite benefits wiped out with the newer, more consumptive screens? And how can anyone count on an accurate depiction, if Ayn is changing components without a following name designation? How can we know if we're getting a good screen or the bad screen?
Based on Ayn’s latest update, they will use the new screen supplier for all Odin models hence the delays on delivering base/pro for over a month. So all Odin models will use the new screens starting in August.
WiFi 6 has been amazing for GeForce Now, Steam Link, and Xbox Game Pass. Sorry, I don't have Stadia... The mobile data is currently limited to 4g. I have a 5g card and plan, but the Lite just won't use it, and game streaming on 4g has been AWFUL for me.
Audio technical advice: human ear tend to prefer louder sounds, therefore it's biased in thinking louder sounds are better, and this is pretty obvious in the world of music and audio production. IMO you should try to adjust every audio sample's volume in the quality test so to better pinpoint audio quality rather than volume.
I just bought a 4GB ram / 64GB model, lightly used but local so it'll arrive soon. I really just want to play older Nintendo 3D systems and GBA, so if I can get it to do 3DS and GC, perfect
I asked for some updates on my order and I got this response via email. "Hi, We can tell you that when the new screen is ready. Now we are still waiting for the news." I was going to preorder the Loki too but I don't think I'll.
@@FantiR i email them last night asking for clarification because if what Taki is saying is true (not that i doubt it) i absolutely want a refund for this is now a matter of principle: is outrageous that a person who backed early in the game taking the highest risk will in the end get a crappy screen because they are not capable of follow a basic shipping order
I got an RK2020 right at the start of the handheld retro revolution 😂 for what it is, it's pretty rad. But I would upgrade to this in a heartbeat if I had the spare dough. My goal is always: as many systems as possible on one device. Hell, this would easily replace my Switch
Can you test multiplayer games like co Mario kart on gc? I’ve always been curious to see how these devices fair and if the pro or standard may show improved performance in those situations. Great video by the way, keep it up!
I got the RP2+ about a month ago and have been enjoying it. But since it can't do very many GC or PS2 games it just felt a little lacking. I did back the Oden Lite though and I hope to get mine eventually. I'll probably use the OL as my base Gamecube and PS2 and up emulation device. That doesn't mean I won't have older games on it though. I will. Only downside is that i was late to the game and backed the systems late so I'll be getting my system in later. It's worth the wait though it seems. But It's sad that it'll come with a less efficient screen though.
@@FrequentlyPlays Yes I have. the Lite plays GC and PS2 game pretty well as long as they are the PAl versions (since they run at 50fps rather than 60), though I'm pretty sure it can ply the NTSF versions just as well. I would very much like a windows device with the clamshell and dual screen design of the 3DS, so that you could either emulate 3DS and WiiU, or play a windows game with a TH-cam or just chrome browser on the other screen. They could put a mini keyboard on the bottom in the style of the 360 chat pad or older cellphones with the qwerty keypads.
The value proposition of the Odin Lite will be hard to beat. And probably only AYN will be willing to do so later on. Too bad it no longer has the best battery life around too. I guess that will go back to the GPD XP+. Am still interested in seeing the new update or revision of powkiddy to the X18s just for the clamshell form factor. But yeah, I don't think there will be anything better in terms of performance at the $199 price than the Odin Lite this year. I just don't see it. Hell, even next year, I don't see it at the price. The fact it even plays 2D games for the Switch is quite insane. Apart of being able to play ANY 3DS,PS2, GC and Wii game if adjusted properly. With good battery life and thermals. Just wow, For me, if this was in a clamshell form factor. It would be the perfect handheld. But even I f the switch lite format, it comes as closer than anything else before.
Because the battery life of the new screens is so much worse, the audio on the Lite is worse than the Pro, and they said in the most recent update that devices with older screens will be available again in November, I decided to write to AYN and ask to cancel my current Odin Lite order (only ordered about a month ago). I'm not in a rush to get it, and would prefer to get the better screen's battery life. Plus, I think I might prefer to pay more to get the Pro because of the superior audio quality. The downside is that I may not be able to get it in the Cold Gray (SNES) color at that point, like my original order was going to be. As long as I can at least get it in white - my second choice - that should be fine, though. Hopefully things go as planned with the screens and it works out for me later this year.
I put my money down for the Pro back in March, Still no sign of a shipping estimate, The wait time is pretty horrendous, won't be doing anymore Indies after this one, I'd prefer a cashback, things have moved on way to far in the last 6 months.
Still waiting for mine. Didn't order the base/pro. I think I messed up by upgrading storage and RAM because it seems like they can't get their crap together for the Lite....
Having an RP2+ and a Steam Deck, is there a place for the Odin Lite specifically? I love the form factor and look, but have no problems with the other two, as well. Basically looking for an excuse to grab one of these to play with outside of it looks neat.
Should have better battery life compared to the Deck for the high-end emulation that they both do over what the 2+ can. You've basically got both ends of the spectrum with your current devices though.
Cheers Taki, shame about the battery life suffering with the new screen, still good, no longer amazing. I'm wondering if the shell texture varies with colour, my white Pro is slicker than I'd like. Though it is the best colour ... :)
I backed the SNES colored Lite about a week ago and still have no idea when my order will be processed. It's very confusing. I asked a question on the IGG page and people are responding that they're still waiting for their initial Lite orders from last year, and others are commenting they've had some more recent ones filled.
the guys from ayn have produced like 200 odin lites for the backers, it has been like 10 days and 0 new units have been produced. If you backed a lite, you have to wait until they re-start production. So yea i don't think you'll see your device this year.
@Taki You mentioned GameCube can run @3x 1080p, but with Zelda Wind Waker, it is not running well at the second island with cloud effect - wondering if that’s the same you see as well? Running dolphin mmjr and the best I can go is only 1.5x.
I can definitely hear the audio difference between the Lite and Pro. But since even the Lite's audio is better than the Switch Lite, I'm curious: Is it also better than the audio on a Switch OLED? I didn't know if you had one to compare, or how much of a difference there is between a Switch Lite and Switch OLED when it comes to audio. I ordered an Odin Lite almost a month ago, and I guess I'd feel better knowing that its audio is at least better than that of a Switch OLED, since I generally feel pretty good about how that sounds. The only thing that could get me to upgrade from my current combo, RP2+ and Poco X3 Pro, is if Xbox 360 emulation becomes a reality on Android. That's the last console I really loved before moving onto PC gaming for pretty much everything else.
You'll absolutely not get a D900/SD845 device for 99-129 in a year. That'll take 3 years at least

I know nobody actually has one in hand yet, but I strongly suspect that the Loki zero (which you can still preorder for
Friend I like one ayn Odin lite can you help me
There was an option to get the Lite for $198 when this video went up but Ayn removed it a week later due to supply issues. Shipping was still $30 but the device itself was under $200. The main issue I have is with fulfillment, I can see myself getting a Lite but I'll wait until it goes retail (if it ever does). For now I'm sticking with my V1 hacked switch.
might as well get a nintendo switch
@@davidgarza995 it's not nearly the same thing
It’s 198 now
thank you for including Lite vs Pro segment..As I was just thinking about searching for a video of just TAHT, that part came xP
Finally a comprehensive review; it just sucks that ayn is taking so long to get these out to people...Would be nice to have these easily available for retail
I would gladly buy one if it was production line manufactured like clockwork they look so neat...
This is seriously the device I'd replace my Steam Deck with if I ever had too as I never play PC games on it and only mostly use it for retro. So the Odin Lites price to performance and the fact it looks professionally designed is a huge win for my needs.
Just keep both

I'd just buy one of the Loki units.
Guess we'll see
My steam deck preorder came through 12 months later , I decided not to have it as 12 months is too long in the tooth in the tech world.
Sad that the new screen isn’t that great as the old one. Nevertheless the Odin is an awesome device and I absolutely enjoy my Pro since April. Best emulation handheld out there. You even get used to the small analog sticks after a while and they end up pretty precise 😉 worth the wait and worth the money
I thought I was the only one who liked the Odin sticks!
I'm really glad I managed to get one, including shipping prices, for less than £200. Absolutely worth it.
How long was the to get the Delivery Date ?
Several months ago, I backed this project, hoping that this would be my ultimate "all in one" emulation device.
Seems like it's the case !
Now, when will it be shipped... Good question. Eagerly waiting for it !
they aren't legally obligated to send handheld units, and they usually only ship them to reviewer types like this guy, I wont spend a time for a promise
I have one of these on order and am really excited to get my hands on it, this review has me even more excited!
Definitely see myself picking one of these up for PSP emulation as Vitas are becoming quite expensive in my area. Great review as always Taki 👍
Another great video. Thank you Taki! Excited for my Odin Pro to arrive in August.
What an excellent review!!!!! Loki soon....but for 197 dollars wow. We have waited for these days since 83

Did you receive it ? Im somewhat of a noob so just want some feedback
Yeah, even if you order now, it'll be at least 5 months, as I made a late order and am currently slated to get mine in mid-January
That music during the comparisons had me bumping my body and legs to no end!!!!
Hey props on using dqxiii for the testing. Its such a great game i hear no one online talk about ever so im glad to see it at least in a video.
You can also say in your reviews that AYN has been stopped the shipment since the last month because they run out of screens and we don't know when they gonna restart the shipment.
probably, but that would mean being honest and that doesn't seem to apply when the video is about ayn.
Makes me feel better about my choice I was worried it was going to be way worse . Now if they would finally ship it I will be happy.
shipping has started this week
Very tempting to get this, especially as someone that wants to play everything, GC, ps2 and below in one handheld. The biggest problems I have with getting this device is that I'll be getting one that has worse battery life, which is a big deal, and more expensive as well as not pocketable. Pocketablity is maybe one of the key features that I wish to have in these sorts of devices. seems I'll just have to wait a bit but otherwise, seems like an amazing device.
Don't get it, they are not even making them, this just an add for a product that ayn doesn't seem to want to make. Also even if they make it, they'll use a crappier screen.
great video I really enjoyed it I'm gonna pick up one and I'm also pick up a retroid pocket 4 pro 😂😮😅😊🎉🎮
This looks amazing, just ordered one but I imagine it's gonna take forever to come 😂
Where do you order it from
Did you get it yet?
You are by far the best channel to watch on TH-cam. Need to save my Pennie’s for this
Oh man, i only a generation or two once TSMC pushes out its 3nm and Samsung gets GAA going, we're going to have enough performance to run pretty much all GC and PS2 games at full speed and still have great battery life.
Great great vid bro
Please talk them into making an Aliexpress store 😊 it's the best way to currently buy these things in Brazil
They have one, they just can't stock it until they fill their existing orders.
@@TakiUdon that's great news
I have several ambernic devices and do plan on buying an Odin once they become available on retail.
Unfortunately I did that so late that I've been held back by the screen issue and still do not have my Odin pro even though I've been invested in this project for over a year 😩😩
I tried to warn people against swapping to 845 because it was clear to me since about November that this model was the better value of the three.
It’s a shame that this great device has left such a bad taste in peoples mouths due to the shipping delays. The concerns over the screen affecting battery life also bothers me, especially since I assume that’s what will go into the Loki as well, which likely already won’t have great battery life with heavier titles
Loki uses a different screen.
@@TakiUdon Glad to know it, thanks Taki
@@RyeJ_86 People have to understand, they did not "order" a device, they backed a project. The perk is getting the item(s) supported, while the company works out bugs and resources, etc. Most people believe they placed an order for an item, and it's just more complicated than that.
@@K3nVV I’ve told people that a lot. It took almost 9 months fore to get my Odin. Best thing to do with these is order and try not to think about it too much
@@K3nVV You don't understand. People who backed in August 2021 are BEHIND people who backed in January 2022. This is what annoys people.
Would love to see comparison of the streaming options, considering the Pro doesn't have WiFi 6, but the Lite does. Thanks for all your hard work!
I think the newer video decoder in the Lite will make a bigger difference than the WIFI for most people.
Definitely considering this especially now that their shipping issues seem to be resolved.
i ordered a odin lite back in June. Still waiting for it :)
What about a short rundown between the Odin Base vs the Lite? Also is 4GB of ram all that you need in all the games showed here? Thanks.

Looks cool if only such devices saled everywhere...
Saled...

I need this in my life, I have the need for some Dark Cloud
The specs are almost the same as the RP4 if I'm not mistaken. Safe to assume they perform similarly?
The ram is a little off so not exact but the updates and optimizations retroid does is better than the competition so most likely the same.
Ok that settled it, im gettin this instead of the RP3
Taki, you went through like 6 Odin Lites to get HDMI out, and the first clip you chose to screen record was the infamous "so long gay Bowser"? June ends and Taki goes demon mode

love your videos...been following you since you posted your first one! but i have a question...why no chapters?

The lite should be able to do just as much as the pro on emulation. great video! one question though, you mentioned that you didn't include tier 1 or tier 2 systems, is there a graph to view which consoles are in which tier?
Gonna have to wait until they start listing on Amazon or something, but the DAY they do is the day I buy.
Thinking of purchasing a Retro Device as a present to my adult gamer son. I am researching and came across your excellent video. You did a great job of reviewing these. I do wish you had included the Odin Base also. Would the comparison be about the same between the Odin Base and the Lite?
did u play soul calibur 3 ? is it good to play ps2 games ?
So aren't all the Lite benefits wiped out with the newer, more consumptive screens? And how can anyone count on an accurate depiction, if Ayn is changing components without a following name designation? How can we know if we're getting a good screen or the bad screen?
Based on Ayn’s latest update, they will use the new screen supplier for all Odin models hence the delays on delivering base/pro for over a month. So all Odin models will use the new screens starting in August.
Could you please perform a Cloud Gaming test, preferably with Stadia, with the Lite? It has Wifi6 uniquely and supports a sim card iirc?
WiFi 6 has been amazing for GeForce Now, Steam Link, and Xbox Game Pass. Sorry, I don't have Stadia... The mobile data is currently limited to 4g. I have a 5g card and plan, but the Lite just won't use it, and game streaming on 4g has been AWFUL for me.
@@jakehooker many thanks for the info on that matter!

They should acknowledge this somehow. I was going to preorder the Loki too but I don't think I'll.

Would love this also, such a hard decision which one to get. Don't want to lose performance, but the cost with shipping it quite a lot extra.
Feedback is the current display has great battery life. It's technically V4, since there was a small batch that you have here.
I plan on upgrading my modified PS Vita for the Odin lite. I would like to play PS2 games.
Questions: can it also play multiplayer games? Do I need other Odin's for multiplayer? Does it need blue tooth controllers to do so?
wow that thing looks so awesome :D
I got an RK2020 right at the start of the handheld retro revolution 😂 for what it is, it's pretty rad. But I would upgrade to this in a heartbeat if I had the spare dough. My goal is always: as many systems as possible on one device.
Hell, this would easily replace my Switch
Can you test multiplayer games like co Mario kart on gc? I’ve always been curious to see how these devices fair and if the pro or standard may show improved performance in those situations. Great video by the way, keep it up!
Man, I have the Aya Neo.. MiyooMini V2... Many Anbernic... but this looks marvelous... I must resist.
I’m new to this stuff. Does this device come pre-loaded with games? If so, does it have a good selection for each console?
I got the RP2+ about a month ago and have been enjoying it. But since it can't do very many GC or PS2 games it just felt a little lacking. I did back the Oden Lite though and I hope to get mine eventually. I'll probably use the OL as my base Gamecube and PS2 and up emulation device. That doesn't mean I won't have older games on it though. I will. Only downside is that i was late to the game and backed the systems late so I'll be getting my system in later. It's worth the wait though it seems. But It's sad that it'll come with a less efficient screen though.
Have you got your system yet? I'm thinking of getting one myself but not sure how long it takes. Also is the best way to buy through indiegogo?
@@FrequentlyPlays Yes I have. the Lite plays GC and PS2 game pretty well as long as they are the PAl versions (since they run at 50fps rather than 60), though I'm pretty sure it can ply the NTSF versions just as well. Native resolution works perfectly fins and for some game you can even go 3x, but the best one would be a 1.7x. Inddiegogo will stop November 15th, so If you want to get one order it form there NOW.
The lite looks like it has a much brighter screen...just to be clear, it's not an OLED screen on either correct? Also is it a stereo speaker?
But even I f the switch lite format, it comes as closer than anything else before.
patience is a virtue
I ordered in Feb no sign for me either. Never doing a order through indiegogo anymore.
Odin Lite is a no brainer for me. Surprised the lite outperforms it in any case.
They are not making the lite, but they'll be glad to take your money.
Is that new screen brighter or does it just use more power for the same brightness?
I think 2023 will be a good year for great performing handheldsfor $199 or under.
I think you've got the best value Hi-Lo combination right there.
Cheers Taki, shame about the battery life suffering with the new screen, still good, no longer amazing. I'm wondering if the shell texture varies with colour, my white Pro is slicker than I'd like. Though it is the best colour ... :)
Thx, still waiting for mine to be ship.
Got mine a few weeks ago and still learning to work it. Cost me about about £200 ,(including £47 tax and customs
Thanks in advance!
