Anglo Link , I really don't know how to reach to pay my gratitudes and above all else my richest tribute in honour of your efforts in delivering English lessons. As I personally am enjoying it very interestingly. Keep the good work moving on dear. Stay blessed and Secure. Regards!
Dear Minoo: I'm a teacher of English in Chile, and I am fascinated by this video! This is one of the biggest struggles my sutdents go through in lessons. I will probably be using this video as part of my classes, so thank you very much! But I have a couple of questions for you. 1. You mention that "at" is used for precise locations and events, why do we say "at the beach" then? It's not small nor precise and it's definitely not an event. 2. Then, you mention that we must use "in" for abstract locations and "on" for TV, radio, internet, websites, etc. (which I consider to be means of communication). Which preposition should I use for social media? They are abstract locations and means of communication. Is your video "in " TH-cam or "on" TH-cam? Where can I share my pictures? "In" Instagram or "on" Instagram? I hope you read my comment and I really appreciate your work. Thank you very much again!
You're most welcome, Fabian. To answer your questions: 1. If you refer to the actual beach where the sand is, the preposition is 'on the beach'. 'At the beach' is used to refer to a location that allows 'beach activities'. It becomes a little bit like 'at school'. 2. For social media, you might see both prepositions used, but 'on' is the favourite: On TH-cam.
Thank you very much for those amazing courses. Your channel has become my best English channel so far. Some points weren't clear for me, I hope you explain them to me. For example, in 02:36 you've said: *When you refer to a place because of what happens at that place, you should use "at": And you gave the following example: -Today John is at work. *When you refer to a place as a pure location, you should use "in": And the example was: -There was a fire in the school. My question is: Isn't those two examples in controversy? I mean the first example is for the second tip and the second example for the first tip. I couldn't understand that part very well I think. THANKS IN ADVANCE PROFESSOR.
You're very welcome. No, there's no contradiction between my guidelines and the examples. He's AT school today (He's a student studying there.) He's IN the school today (not in the hospital), cleaning the windows. (He's a window cleaner doing his job.)
Thank u so much about this amazing lesson and i hope i could follow more your videos that can help to refrish my memory to learn English so that i will be to it properly as a native speaker. Morocco
