    I can't consider the "uncle Dinky story" to be documented historical fact. Historic details are often a muddy mess, becoming more slippery as time passes.

    How did this lady NOT KNOW that Joe escaped to the Travis Family Farm in Alabama, and that the journey took roughly 40 days. When Nickolas Travis (William’s brother) had a son he named him Joseph and because of its similarity to Joe he was FORCED to change his name. Joe picked Ben for his new name which was in honor of his older brother. Susanna Dickinson (an Alamo survivor) in an interview with a Texas newspaper in 1878 not only called Joe by his new name Ben but also claims that she has always stayed in touch with him. Ben was mentioned again in 1905 in the newspaper “The Montgomery Advertiser” saying that William’s youngest brother James had visited the Alamo with William’s former manservant “Old Ben”. If I KNOW these things how didn’t she know them!?!

    Now if only a history of the only able man who survived the Alamo battle, Brigidio Guerrero, could be done, this would really be a PLUS! One piece of research has been done on this man, who later received a Texas pension based on his participation of the San Antonio & Grass fight battles. It's called, Brigidio Guerrero, Alamo Survivor & Texas Hero- get it, it's a GREAT read. Also, I just like to state, that it's nice to see all Texas celebrate a Mexican victory every year!

    Joe did not see any of the battle of the Alamo because as he states to a newspaper reporter from Virginia, 'he hid himself in a room' after Travis committed suicide at the north wall. Another historian has stated that Joe was not related to Boone, and that his REAL personal history could be summed up in one single sentence. There is hardly NO historical data on this slave of Travis.

    • @Chief2Moon
      @Chief2Moon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Why do you say Travis killed himself when interviews I've read supposedly given by Joe say he reported a Mexican shot killed Travis on top of the north wall immediately after Travis had fired both barrels from his shotgun very early in the final attack?
