I agree. The battle for Texas was not fought because of slavery nor was the civil war. The civil war was fought over states rights. The law of April 6th 1830 is what started all of this. Mexico wanted American settlers to stop coming into Mexican territories with slaves. Stephen F Austin disagreed and fought tooth and nail to preserve the right to do so. Any and every person that fought against Mexico was fighting to support Austin’s beliefs regardless if they owned slaves or not.
