  • There are SO many benefits with Intermittent Fasting. When I started a clean fast, I started losing weight. I was adding honey to my hot tea, and had to stop. The power of zero is no additives or calories during the fasting period, which is a clean fast. There are so many benefits to Intermittent Fasting.

    I did IF for 9 months and didn’t lose at all. Didn’t make sense as I gave up breakfast. Turns out, I thought I was fasting until noon, but really, what I was doing at 9am was breaking my fast- ACV, mints, gummie vitamins and gum. At 57, post menopause, my body is carb sensitive. Once I went to. REAL clean fast…I dropped weight! What a difference.

    You motivate me and guide me through my weight loss journey…lifestyle change-up…happy place. I’ve been exercising every day, do clean fasting, and am doing an 18/6 fast. I eat my main meal around 10a.m., and eat a healthy snack at around 4:00p.m.. I drink water all day and my food is heavy on vegetables, which I love. I prepare meals ahead, so when I’m hungry I just open the refrigerator and a satisfying meal is right there. I’m a 70 year old healthy mommy and granny. It’s never too late ❣️

      @@robinhoward474 Yes, I am 75 and have been doing IF 7PM to 11AM (16 hours ) for several months now along with a swimming aerobic class M, W,F and some PT exercises T,TH for my knee arthritis. I wanted to lose about 20 weight off my knees to help with that. The knees are a bit better, because of less inflammation and swimming, I think. I am definitely stronger muscularly, but no weight off yet. I know muscle weighs more than fat so there could be some changes in muscle to fat ratio and I haven't gained any, but I was hoping for a bit more success in the loss dept, because of limiting eating window.
      So... this zero calories idea does give me hope this may work, since I do have water and several cups of coffee with a splash of cream in the AM. Tomorrow I will try to stomach it without the cream and see if I can do that for a few weeks with that change only to see if any good changes happen,. Thanks for the good idea.

    Hello, Sandy! I just found you and am really enjoying your videos and have subscribed to your channel.
    I started low carb (ketoISH) starting August 2020. Along with that I would skip breakfast. I was faithful with that diet and no cheating (even over holidays). I lost approximately 70 pounds in the first 14 months. Then I got Covid October 2021 and all weight loss stopped. Again, I was true to the diet without cheating over the next set of holidays. Still no more weight lost for an entire year. Thanksgiving and Christmas 2022 I was so frustrated that I had just a few things that I wouldn't have normally, even a little bit of gluten. After the holidays I had gained ten pounds.
    I have been waiting for more than a year to get into a Natural Medicine provider for over a year and my appointment has finally been secured for April 2023!! I spoke with the clerk on the phone and she mentioned that I will need to write down everything that I eat and all water that I drink for the week before my appointment. I asked her if I count coffee as water and she giggled and said, "No, only water counts as water.". I thought for the first time about how much water I drink in a day. I have one large glass to take my supplements and two 16 ounce cups of coffee. A light went off in my head. What if my key is to drink more water. Starting that day (about two weeks ago) I started drinking two quarts of water each day. I pour it out into a big pitcher every morning and gulp it throughout the day. I don't like water, but I know that it is good for me, so I am being faithful. I still hadn't lost any weight after about two weeks, but at the end of last week, two things happened. I realized that I was having some no carb snacks in the late evening when I got hungry, even after I had not had anything since lunch and I realized that even those no carb items were breaking my fast and my body was being interrupted and having to start back over again to get into a fasting state. The second thing was I listened to a doctor and he recommended a 36 hour fast weekly, or at least monthly. Over the last seven days I have eaten everything for that day in about a two hour window (if I want it, it has to be eaten in those two hours) and I did my first 36 hour fast and it wasn't nearly as difficult as I thought and I felt so good afterward. I weighed myself this morning and I have lost five pounds! Plus yesterday my window of eating was one hour. I was pretty full and didn't really even want anything else the rest of the day. That is because I included plenty of fat in that hour. Two salmon burgers, brussel sprouts roasted in olive oil, my coffee with heavy cream along with a Rebel ice cream.
    I feel that I am back on track again and your videos have confirmed what I had already realized I needed to change!
    Thanks for your videos and thankful also for comments that allow us to share tips, tricks, and encouragement here!

    Great video Sandy. I love your cup! Dirty fasting was not working for me. When I had lemon in my water and cream in my coffee I felt much more hungry doing this. A clean fast was not easy. I had headaches, and I found myself very emotional- crying easily and my anxiety really increased, but after a week of this my hunger in the morning went away. I didn't feel as hungry throughout the day. The past few days I've broken my fast with the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar in my water and that has helped my bloating. I had even taken a break for a couple of weeks from my flavored carbonated water in the evening, then missed it, and when I reintroduced it, it causes so much cramping and bloating in my gut. I can't have it anymore.

    Hi Sandy. Well, you re-motivated me. Thank you. I went off IF for 2 days (because I wanted my creamy, sugared coffee at 5AM) but I felt terrible, immediately. It isn't worth the sugary, creamy coffee. Today I am back on. I was on it for 14 days, including the 2 I was off. Well, I also lost 6 pounds. You know what? It's a lifestyle. And it's healthy. And I can do it. I have the book, and will reread it again. I'll just keep on keeping on. I prayed for something to help me and I believe this is the Lord's answer. Thank you!! Thanks for a great common sense approach to IF without making us feel guilty if something does or doesn’t work for us. I’m still finding my way to the perfect method but find it difficult as I am vegan. Some IF channels stress eating a lot of protein which can be challenging at times. The worst part for me is avoiding the snacking in the evening after my eating window is closed (I do 16/8).

    • @sandysteinbrook
      @sandysteinbrook  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      After a while, the urge to snack goes away. I brush my teeth after dinner and that signals the end of food for me. Kind of a mental thing when I do that.
      As a vegan, you still have great protein sources in the plant world. For me, I make sure and have some protein when I break my fast or I’m starving later. But, I’m not chomping down on steak and butter over here.

      @sandysteinbrook  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cindyh.9550, there is nothing wrong with drinking coffee, but if you are trying to fast, you want to drink it black. If you put additives in it, you will be breaking your fast and most likely not receive the benefits you're trying to achieve by giving your body a time of fasting. If the body is not digesting, it is healing and repairing itself.

    Hello there, glad to know you picked up Gin's book. Clean fasting is key it changes everything!
    (Cream in coffee ends your fast. You are now in your eating window.)
    I change when I start and stop to suit my days activities. I do a lot of OMAD and 3-6 hour windows. No more counting calories or weighing food... it's freeing!
    I tend to not openly tell people that I IF to avoid comments that I'm starving myself or getting the wide eyes look that I'm crazy but so unaware of it. What usually happens is they notice I look different and want to know what I'm doing. I like to start with, I'm house cleaning inside my body. Doing cell repair! I don't linger talking at all about it. I usually try to change the subject. If they are truly interested they come back for more info. I'm not as strong as Gin, she uses all the right words.
    Pant size 16 to a 10 in how long you ask? Who cares? Intermittent Fasting is not a weight loss program.
    Thank you so much for sharing on this platform, it's very helpful!

      you didnt actually lose 5lb of body fat in 2 days as that would be insane. you cut out carbohydrates and carbohydrates are converted to glycogen in muscles which holds onto water so when you let that glycogen deplete, your body dumps the water which reflects on the scale. youll also notice you dont look as puffy on the face after days of this. eggs and bacon are fat and protein only so you are moving towards a ketogenic diet if you keep doing that. the healthy and effective way of doing this is to lose weight consistently at 2-3lb per week and dont look at teh scale daily cause that will be misleading. Eat only real 1 ingredient food and count the calories wiht the fasting. teh only thing to be aware is dont eat sugar and eat only a little of carbs because unused carbohydrates are converted to body fat for storage so you want to jsut give your body enough to feed the muscle but not more to store. if you cut out carbs completely youll move into ketosis which will cause headaches and some nausea at first. so even if you are fasting and eating carbs, take in a little salt and tiny potassium to avoid any headache. if you do the long fasts and only eat somethign like 1200 calories a day of real food but limiting carbs, you will lose bodyfat. add in long walks and some strength training and you will have great mental and physical results.

Every morning when I get up, I thank the Lord for another morning and in asking him for guidance for the day, show me whatever video or passage of scripture, whatever it may be that I need to see for knowledge, growth and wisdom. I wait till after I eat breakfast about halfway between that and lunch and then I have my coffee with a little cream. When I drink coffee on an empty stomach, I feel like I’m going to be sick. I have read a lot about the effects of doing that so it makes sense why my stomach doesn’t feel good when I do it. I just found your channel yesterday, and I am so thankful for it. Good sense and a strong Christian faith is a good combination for me.

    Now, I am well and back at it. The first day, I did a 22 and half hour fast. Today, I did 17 hour fast. My plan is to do 16/8 every day, but if I'm not hungry, then I'm not going to eat. I need to lose 100lb and I had cancer 5 years ago, so I'm determined to get back on the health train. One thing that DOES NOT work for me, is to get on the scale every day! I might do that once a month. Good luck everyone!

      GREAT information you shared! You are so right, if you aren't hungry, why eat just because it is time to on a clock. Our bodies tell us what it needs. You can totally do this again! You know how to do it, and just need to get back on track. I can hear the motivation in your voice. You're going to do great.

    Jeremiah 29:11 is my life verse…love it! The clean fast seems to be the key. Our brains even think we have eaten with some of the diet sugars. IF sources say take black plain coffee or black/green tea only to continue fasting anything else takes you off of your fast. Autophagy can then take place and eat those bad cells and toxins and fat. Also if you do not lose weight at first, your body may be restoring itself first. As always stay healthy.

    Definitely clean fast. I have done both and there is a huge difference. I feel better with clean fast and OMAD. Also, everytime you eat, you have an insulin spike. The body makes white fat instead of brown fat when it can’t keep up with the number of insulin spikes. Then that stores as belly, hip, thigh fat and fat around your organs. Just clean fast. I have been trying to do just eating on odd number days for February, but that hasn’t worked so well, but the OMAD clean fast was very effective in January, so, I will return to it.

    • @sandysteinbrook

    I just found out about how its ok to drink water with electrolytes in them. I now understand why, and their importance.
    One question: I'm so darn tired all the time. I can't seem to shake it. I feel that I'm eating enough during my "feast" window. Could it be I'm not getting enough carbs in? Yawn

      Are the electrolytes helping with the tiredness since you started taking them? I put pink Himalayan salt in my water in the morning to get all the essentials nutrients. Do you add that too?
      Are you eating enough food in your eating window? Make sure and get plenty of food. Protein, healthy fats and fiber. Whether that is healthy grains, plenty of vegetables and fruits or whatever carbs you want. I’m not a low carb eater. I enjoy crabs and eat them often.

      So that's relatively new for me. I'll try your suggestion of the pink Himalayan salt in the water.
      I've just started eating more carbs the past few days.
      Well see what happens by the beginning of the month.
      Thanks.
